How to Balance Your Motorcycle Wheels
Wheel balancing and rotation is a common practice on cars and it's easy to see why - the vast majority of cars have equal sized wheels and rubber on all four points - that means that when one or more tyres are out of balance it can cause major handling issues. On motorcycles it's not such a big problem but nevertheless, it's still a good habit to ensure your wheels are correctly balanced. And if you change your own tyres, balancing is an easy task to do.
Many people scoff at buying a wheel balancer - they see the price and think it's not worth it. But if you've developed the skills to change your own tyres it makes sense to be able to balance them as well. And given the prices charged by most mechanics to do so, you'll recoup the money spent on a balancer within a few sets of tyres. We personally use a motorcycle wheel balancing and truing stand from Bikeservice. It's top of the line and probably overkill for most as it even includes the ability to measure runout. If you just have non-spoked wheels, a basic balancing only stand is sufficient.
Tools you'll need for this job are:
- Wheel balancing stand (www.motoplace.com.au/wheel-turning-balancing-stand)
- Wheel weights
- Tape/Marker/Chalk to mark your wheel

It’s nearly the end of 2015 and I’m terribly sad that I’m riding a Suzuki GSX-S1000. Not because this isn’t a great bike for a brilliant price, but because it’s something we all should have enjoyed riding 10 years ago. Unfortunately, Suzuki is late to the party but thankfully the naked GSX-S1000 is an excellent machine that is in keeping with the GSX pedigree.

    Not bad. Good help, in fact! I'm not sure about Aus but here in the US, aerosol ipa can be a bit challenging to find locally and would usually need to be ordered. If this is locally available in AUS, I am jealous!!!! If I may share what I do: I just lift the end of the grip and cut them off my bars using a knife or utility shears. They are either not what I want or they are worn anyway. Clean the bars with acetone, and then spray some hairspray onto the bar moments before I slip the new grip onto the bar. The hairspray acts like a lube for about 3 min and then it dries to an adhesive that wont slip. Give it a go !!!!

    There's no way that bike is consistently stopping below 10 meters going 60kph, that's a so called wishful thinking speedo or some other variable playing a huge role here. Worst speedo I've seen was an MT-07 that read like 13kph lower than your actual speed. In real life riders are far more likely to brake equally to cars or even a little worse because skill issue, (stomping the brake in a car isn't hard).

  • @rcraven1013
    @rcraven1013 Před 6 měsíci

    This is an American video and show roads in the USA and elsewhere . Basically its good for riders to know about the limit point [ or vanishing point ] and we do train that here in the UK but if you look at their road positionings you will see that they are using the performance line which the can be taught on to make progress around each an every corner or bend. This is the out - in - out line in order to take bands faster. We do not teach that line here in the UK as we have the vast majority of our road out in the country and our road are narrow with many bends. What we teach in the UK is to slow on approach to determine the correct speed using the limit or vanishing point where we are now keeping a constant distance form it and that gives us not only our speed round it but also our stopping distance form it. That distance should be the distance that we can see to be clear and to be able to stop in and on our own side of the road. So this video doesn't mention that but its what we train to do in the UK. Further our positioning on any bend us is to keep that safe stopping distance and to be paralleling the curvature of the bend. This enables us to have less of a lean angle which is safer than having to lean over more at times on a bend. More lean means less available grip. We advocate a positive and constant throttle [ no acceleration through the bend until almost vertical and coming out of it. ] and that helps making it as smoothly as possible. On a positive but none accelerating throttle this throttle balances the bike front to back and if something un-towards happens we have enough ability to slow or steer away from danger. Too quick a use of acceleration, although it feels good, if we are still on the bends but at or after the apex if we use too much throttle whilst with a lot of lean angle we can over balance the the bike and lose the contact with our rear tyre and the road, then lose the bike totally sliding off or if it kicks back when we de -accelerate it could high side us off and that is painful. Happy and safe riding.

    So if a-c>40mm then you adjust the spring to be stiffer in order to be between 30-40mm and if a-c<30mm then you adjust the spring to be softer. This is what I saw on your video. You had a-c=45mm and in order to be between the optimal limits, you compressed the spring. Right?

    I’m very surprised! I really thought a car would stop sooner. I wonder how much it depends on the type and age of the car. I feel like there is a big difference between types of car. It’s frightening to think of the stopping distance of a UTE or 4 Wheel Drive with All Terrain or off road tyres! I’d love to see how an adventure motorcycle tyre would compare with a road bike tyre!

      Add in the mix the type of the breaking system present inside, since different types, will have a different efficency during the breaking, the type of road where for example a car recover faster than a moto for bump another example are don't flat road. Could be nice see a recent comparison also between moto and car both with ABS Cornering despite can't be never exaustive nor considered conclusive given the differents situations possible.

    An inexperienced car driver can stop much faster than an inexperienced bike rider. Every rider should practice stopping at various speeds. Practice on a straight road with no traffic. Do it on every bike you ride. And practice at least once a year.

      @araarathisyomama787 Před 11 měsíci

      This, biker has to be ready for emergency situation more than anyone else, please practice. Though, I think defensive riding is even more important, to never encounter such situations in the first place. Better 5 minutes late than never. I see too many reckless riders where I live, and some of them messed up their health forever just next to my house. I'm not a rider (yet! someday I will...), but my first years behind the wheel were pretty scetchy and I had some close calls, but never crashed. Once I started changing my driving style it changed everything. One person making mistake is usually okay if others keep attention, but when two or more reckless drivers meet eachother it's a recipe for disaster. Avoiding blind maneuvers, backing off and keeping distance made world of a difference and I can still go fast once I feel safe. One other thing - being sleepy/tired/emotional is just as bad as being drunk. Would not recommend 2/10.

It wasn't spreading horizontal even tho I tigthened up the 17 socket! I was going mad but I think the reason is sometimes It can spead out verical or horizontal? So maybe best to messure both the vertical & horizontal width? No one talks about it.. surely i'm not the only one to have this issue or am the only one to notice it?
