An ordinary man stands in the middle of the water. That s strange. Yet, he is comfortable with it. That's even weirder. A man can stand in a wide waterway, but than we are used that he is standing on a vessel, wearing a sailer suit. No, this ordinary man is special. This takes some getting used to! We know we are able to do something special too. Think of living a month in lockdown, generate po...

Is this allowed? With Ash Dome living trees are turned into an artwork. What image of nature would the artist have? We do understand that a tree is cut in the shape of a bird. The taste is not up for discussion, isn't it? With this bird there is nearly nothing left of the authentic of the tree. With this the artist is allowed to few the tree as something to manipulate. We also do understand tha...

This 1959 bronze piece by Henry Moore (1898-1986) is entitled "Two Piece Reclining Figure No.1" The work is actually in two pieces and does resemble a reclining figure from one vantage point but from others... just two blobs. This piece is very representative of Henry Moore's work. The English artist is known for his monumental works. Many of his pieces, although, abstract, are based, liked thi...

Shape A number of plastic forms are entwined or fused. It seems that a number of surfaces fit together by abrading and polishing. This might be a nice metaphor for (the beginning of) a relationship. Between two parts, there is a disk just like the natural bones. I think, this detail is too literally. The bones are specific forms. These forms give little opportunity to associate and are therefor...

self-confidence, strength and sympathy This artwork Angel by Emily Young has the potential to say meaningful things about the role of the European tradition because it combines elements from this tradition creatively. On top of a number of pillars a face is superimposed. The eyes, nose and mouth are surrounded by coarse hair. The face radiates self-confidence, strength and sympathy. To me, a co...

Paternoster Square is part of a development in a high-profile, sensitive location, next to St Paul’s Cathedral in London. It is a new public space containing a pre-existing underground electricity substation. This substation required a cooling system with outlet and inlet vents, but the client team was unhappy with the proposed solution for a single large object as it would turn the surrounding...

Fresh colours in an awkward place Shape Narrow vertical lines have many colors: primary, greyed to saturated. When the work is viewed between two fingers, each section is shown with it’s different color combination and atmosphere. If you look closely, you see that the work is made by hand. Most lines have one color along the entire height and thickness, but sometimes there is a subtle gradient....

These unusual sculptures by Anthony Caro assisted by Gavin Morris stand on the orth side of the Millennium Bridge. The design of both pairs is related. They consist of a rectangular steel tunnel with a narrow and a wide end, surmounted by a narrower rectangular tunnel. The larger internal space at the bottom, opens into the narrower space above. They are made from shot-blasted stainless steel. ...

The sculpture is by British artist Michael Ayrton (1921-75) and dates from 1973. This is a prime example of this late period of Ayrton’s work. A large majority of his work was centered on the myth of Daedalus and Icarus (the City also owns his 'Minotaur'). www.rupertharris.com The ancient myth that inspired Ayrton, became a life long obsession. He found ‘the ambition. which led both to the triu...

body's celebrate Venus shows her body for a careful look. With her eyes open and her pretty mouth closed she waits quietly, wondering what is going to happen. Her whole body is relaxed. That is what you can see, for example in her right hand that is easely bent inward. On one detail you can see what she expects from her viewers: with her left hand she makes a "stop" gesture. We are welcome, but...

SPECTACULAIR!
Thanks for this beautiful video. Would you please make a video of the shiny statue which has replaced Sister in Hanover Square. I saw it behind the narrator of a video recorded recently in Hanover Square. The replacement statue is also shiny, but it is quite different. Instead of reflections, I seem to see faces in the sculpture. This might be my imagination. I live in the US, so I have no chance to see the sculpture in person.
one of the most physically stunning sculptures I have ever experienced, even thinking of it makes my heart hurt. it deserves a much more epic setting than this streetcorner
Cool😊💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

this should be combined with the georgia guide stones . very illustrative . and it's displayed in a few places around the world , clever . what a message to manunkind . PROVERBS 18:1-7 . G. O. A. ! I searched for an image of this symbol just to refresh my memory of what I saw in downtown los angeles in front of a fed building . I was immediately insulted and understood what it was saying .
Please, daughter of mister Alberto Guzman, send us a message ;-) You send us a touching message. Would you like to share this again with us? By accident I omitted to accept your message Greetings Art@Site
