  • What will happen?
This man has his arms as far as possible out from each other. Further apart is not possible; the tendons cannot stretch any further. This man can't grasp it. This man can't do anything. The man is impotent. This man surrenders.
This is an awful feeling. Having the stress of the thunderous, the chaotic, the disruptive of the situation which is out of the hand. Every sense is to break, to implode, to fail. The stress of not knowing a way out, a solution, a step forward.
This man knows only one solution: the help of the other. And that's lucky too. This man has not given up.
    But what will happen now?
Are we ready to see the perspective of the other, to put our own hustleties on the side, to release our tight schedule for a moment, to tolerate the painful feelings of the other person?
Let us look at the artwork "Man with Arms Open" by Giles Penny.

Giles Penny’s Man with Arms Open is a roughly hewn bronze figure with his head thrown back and arms outstretched.
Penny came to the attention of the Canary Wharf Group when this work, together with another of his bronzes, Two Men on a Bench, were shown as part of the Millennium exhibition, The Shape of the Century in 1999.
Both sculptures were then purchased and form part of the permanent collection of works of art on the estate.
