This will be a channel dedicated to discussing plastic model kit building. I will be doing brief reviews of kits I am going to build, as well as talking about products and techniques I will be using.
I will be focusing on beginners, so I will be trying to be as informative and non-technical, as possible.
i will also talk about my background in the hobby and try and be somewhat entertaining at times.

Hi Brett, the M21 is looking awsome, the OD looks great, looking forward to the next update soon, best regards from Australia, Les
That halftrack is looking great! Well done Brett!!
Good progress, I hear the wheels and tracks are movable 😊
Looking good 💥👍💥
A impressive finish, which shows a great result. It shows the hard work that was put in and makes you satisfied. Best wishes, Joachim
Amazing finish, Brett! It’s a big model. The color variation of the OD looks great. Take care! Drew
Tried this on one of my problem bottles of paint and it works!! Thank you so much!!
Coming along! Nice build.
Hi Brett, this build is looking great, it just goes to show what can be done with a older Tamiya kit, price wise their older kits are some of the best on the market, looking forward to the next update, best regards from Australia, Les
what i do with all my clear parts is i use pledge floor polish and dip in and allow to dry hard overnight. then i can mask and paint very easily and if i make a mistake i use a damp pointed qtip to clean it away. works really good.
Looking good 👍
In the middle of building this model and followed you from part 1. Amazing how you forget that the kits in the mid 70’s just didn’t quite go together so well without some head scratching.
you need xuron sq nose pliersfor small stuff. just bought and they wok great for tiny parts.
Decals look great if the carrier film ends at the decal print.😊
I’ve been told by Steve Evans of Ronin Graphics decals 🇦🇺 that a drop of dishwashing liquid in the water greatly aids sliding them around. He screen-prints his sheets as well.
Interesting update Brett! You shouldn't have too, but would fine sanding the decals be of any help? And p.s. you probably put the decals on better than the ground crew ever painted them, they could be quite workmen like with painting!
All in all the plane turned out nice. I haven’t used their 1/24th scale decals before but have used several of their 48 scale decals without much issues. But you are correct, the insignias are a little thick. I didn’t use the micro set and sol, I used the tamiya mark set. Didn’t do any damage.
Sorry Brett, I should have said, M21, Les
Hi Brett, the M3 is looking great, I know it is an early Tamiya kit, but it is still building into a great model, their earlier kitscare still some ofbthe best about, plus it would not have a high parts count bedt regards from Australia, Les
Looking good there Mr. G
Thank you for the very helpful video. But this is just too tedious for me. Even link and length tracks are too much. I'm totally happy with the "lowly" vinyl tracks. I'm a modeler after all and I can make vinyl tracks look realistic. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
Thanks. And I agree. I've gotten to the point where I don't like indy tracks either. At least some of them. 3D printed stuff seems to be the flavor of the week, but they are way too fidely and fragile for my taste. I'm going out on a limb here and gonna say resin stuff is over rated. Most of the time nowadays I use the kit tracks as long as they are on a more modern kit and look halfway decent for live track vehicles. Like Shermans. For sag track I'll use link and length or indy tracks, but even those have to be certain brands. As for making vivyl tracks sag, I did that just last year on a kit. With a little effort it can be pulled off nicely. You know... basic modelling skills! LAL.
Nice update, the paint job looks great. I am curious about Draw Decals ... I do own one sheet, and they make a lot of unique sheets of interesting subjects.
If you leave the canopy off, they'll paint the cockpit for free. 😁
Nice progress on the mustang. I used draw decals on my quick silver mustang. I like them. Only a couple seconds in the water. They’re printed as a single piece, so cut out closely to the decals edge. lol, the earl shive bit in the beginning 😅
lol, looking for next part :D
Ha, HA! Coming soon!
Looking great
Hey Brett! Still waiting for part 6 and the finished product. Awesome work you did on this model. Building this model now, reschribing the whole model just now, painting and decals gonna be like the boxart, Regards from Björn Eriksson IPMS Uppsala/Sweden
Unfortunately, there are no more videos of this project. I had a pretty bad accident with it. I knocked over my cleaning bottle of lacquer thinner and it totally destroyed not only the paint that had been applied to that point, but also the plastic itself. It was beyond saving and/or repair. I was not happy at all, but things happen. Sorry.
Hi Brett, Glad you’re pleased with the Tamiya Modelling File. 👍😎
Lloyd, my friend! Good to hear from you. It has been indispensable!Shoot me an email if you'd like to stay in touch. I'm guessing you're not on messenger anymore?
I’ve dropped Messenger for the time being, but I’ll be in touch via email.👍😎
The poly caps are on the sprue with the tracks.
LAL yes indeed. I discovered that after the fact. I freely admit I can be a total good sometimes
When I saw you said yours didn't have any I had to pull mine out to check. I really am looking forward to building this kit. You do great work.
@@jamesdowning37129 Thanks, James... I appreciate it!
Very nice halftrack chassis.😊
Hi Brett, you are making great progress on the half track, I believe thst these older Tamiya kits are still vet good value, for bothe the beginner and the more experienced amongst us, because who really wznt a kit thst is 2-4 times the price of thix Tamiya likts and about five timex the parts count, looking forward to the next update, best regards from Australia, Les
One of the worst models i have ever had parts don't fit right it went to the trash
You must have got a bad one. I really enjoyed the build and didn't have any fit issues. Weird.
@@BrettG64 yeah must have the one thing that really made me mad was the $55 bucks i paid
i wish this was still available
Are you in the US?
No in the UK, apparently a new version is coming out
Great work so far. I need to get that file .. thanks for the tip
Tameeya is correct, not tammeya. Thought I'd let you know. Super job.
From what I gather from a Japanese modeler from Japan is that technically either way is correct. It can vary from place to place just like English words can in English speaking countries.
Nice large scale Mustang kit, have fun with the build.😊
The Vallejo silver peeling up is not the paint's issue, it's the Mission Models primer it's it very good. Using a lacquer or good acrylic primer such as Stynylrez, I've never had a problem. There colors can have the same issue. Mixing their colors with their poly & thinner doesn't always guarantee sucess. Also their poly & thinner have poor shelf life. Just quit using them. Very nice work on your Mustang.
This is coming along nicely. I’m doing a 1/32 Revell P-51B for the ww2 gb.
Nice work on such an old kit. Nostalgia builds are fun.
Omg, acylic water based paint, what a waate of time
Bingo!. I've long since switched to lacquer based acrylics. No muss, no fuss.
I invested in a 10 dollar nail polish agitator and just put the bottle in it with a ballbearing for about 1 minute
very nice video!
the colors in scale are more light 15 to 30 % .
olive drab its yellow and black, thats it .
Yep. I've got a '70s Tamiya Panther wreck that answers all my paint questions.
Excellent video just bought this device Thanks
Hi Brett, the build is coming along very nicely, I believe there is nothing wrong with the older Tamiya kits, they still build up into a great kits, more so for beginners but also for us old hands, they also do not have a high parts count, looking forward to the next update, best regards from Australia, Les
Perfect production. 👍🏼
wow wow wow- no locating pins? Insane! You sir are braver than I... best of luck on the build! Loving the simplicity of the cockpit for what you're going to see in the end. Had this been a Airfix 1/24 scale kit, they'd make you build practically the entire plane! :)
