THANK YOU M.M 👍

Très Français
You know what they say, "You get what you pay for" and every once in awhile you get more than you bargain for…
I heard this a few years ago when it was broadcast by the BBC. It is worth another listen.😊
Unless you're British, it's hard to understand what they're saying when they're mumbling half the dialogue. I have this problem with lot of British productions which is really frustrating.
Superb!
I WANT TO EAT! EAT! Ryoshu
Like most kids of the 80s watching this movie scared he life outta me and have always been and still am nervous of the open water and what lies beneath, for some reason I've been getting the extras videos on my CZcams pop ups and have always wanted to read the book to compare but never found the time, I'm so glad I had the thought of looking for this book reading so I'm really enjoying this so far, thank you CZcams.
The book is much better than the film and really builds each character. The film is a classic, but it makes everything look like it happens over a week. The book talks about month long hunts
@@ThatRailwayEngineer it's amazing when watching the making of the fact that the shark never worked that it changed the way they filmed it with filming being level with the water and hardly any shark time is what made the movie what it is and I've gotta say that 80% of the fear comes from the amazing music, I can't think of another horror movie using the music so effectively like Jaws, and to put a real life ww2 story in just genius, the only bad side I can say was the hunting and decline on the shark population especially great whites, when you see documentaries on them they are amazing creatures and was because of Jaws I wanted to learn about them, and I'm glad I did.
@@user-lf2nd5xj6w I absolutely agree that what Stephen Spielberg did with this book was revolutionary for the film industry. Not just on a story or quality level, but the way we look at filmography as a whole. It’s still a movie I watch to this day because I love it. However, the book goes into the detail than the film doesn’t. It gives us a story behind and way from the terror of the shark, a reason the mayor doesn’t want the beaches closed. It shows the corrupt politicians and the government ties with gangs and mobs. It’s not just about the shark and that’s what I like about it. It gives the characters depth that they need. It’s a classic film with a boom at the end. But so much was cut out for the film that when I read the novel, I couldn’t keep going back to the film for reference. I had to imagine it as an alternative universe away from the film because it was so detailed. Even that first part describing Christy, when I first read ‘the nub of bone and tattered flesh’, my mind instantly created this image I had never seen before, and I felt sick in the pit of my stomach. That’s how powerful Peter Benchley’s words are.
I don't think Mr. Aorta's punishment fit the crime :(
Excellent.
Thank you for posting these 💜

One of the actual nightworkers, so pleased to see you here! I have fond memories of hearing this one when it was first broadcast - though I've a feeling I was laid up with a broken ankle at the time.
Nicholas Courtney was amazing in everything he did!! I absolutely loved this!.
You probably spotted the little hints that his character in this might even be The Brigadier himself..?
An excellent adaptation of a terrifying book. Thank you so much for posting this.
The novels of Patrick Hamilton are totally engrossing. Wonderful to hear this adaptation. Thank you.
obligate style hearkens aflame this robust earth
Mr Peters, if you have problem saying the word 'fuck', you shouldnt be reading this book. this book was written by an ex-convict Red and so, it's natural for Red to cuss whilst writing this book. Red is not a highly educated gentlemen. He's a convicted murderer.
Clarke Peters famously starred in The Wire, and was one of two actors in a scene where, for about four minutes, 'Fuck' was literally the only word spoken by the two men. I'm confident he doesn't have any qualms on that score. It's considerably more likely that his employers in this instance, BBC Radio, had to make these small adjustments in order to make the text suitable for mainstream broadcast.
This is very scary
This is one of the most amazing and best short stories I’ve ever heard. I listen it probably at least once a month. It’s just like a great song or something worth listening to again and again. I would also recommend the BBC Night With Vampires last two stories Drink My Blood and A lot of Minced PIes both read by David Tennant. They are also great amazing short stories.
Thank you for keeping these dramas available, giving them new life! Cheers!
That’s a girl who likes what she can’t get, until she can truly have it & then it’s to real. She wouldn’t even stand him communicating about HIS everyday if it wasn’t about HER. A bit “narsie” if you ask me. Serio a death cert has the time on it- if it was truly a MAGIC LOVE then she would have looked at THE FACTUAL DOCUMENT before turning into a lost goo. Bah. Thanks for the upload!
Please sort your cold blocked nose out before narratives, I can't listen to you 🤢🤮🤮🙊🙊🙊👎👎👎
Robert Lang's been dead twenty years so I figure his nose must be pretty clear, but his speaking voice has probably dropped off a bit by now.
Very enjoyable 🥺
My favourite ever reading!
Great narration this is very good
Did he say id like to see your womb 🤔😵💫👀🤨
Absolutely blown away by this when I first heard it on the radio. Thanks for allowing me to refresh my memory.
I've got a couple of other Paul Evans plays on the channel - but also a handful of little sketches of UK birds that he did especially for Halloween... his style is very distinctive...
Thanks, I have "Owls" on my list for later.
Good story .... Beware quiet, mild-mannered accountants 😉. (Narration drags a bit.)
Thankyou !

Great story and narration, thank you!
thank you throughly enjoyed this
Yeeoo
Masterpiece
Is there a list of the actors?
Definitely a PERFECT example of not knowing the WHOLE NARRATIVE does NOT equate to JUST ACTIONS! In fact more harm can be done out of false righteousness. It’s a definite moral tale & a reason to FIND THE MIDDLE WAY for SELF rather than working up for or against sides! Great stories were the Twilight Zone!
Parable of modern day seemingly .
Fabulous! Thank you for that.
Really enjoyed this production, although I wish it could have been longer. I gave up on the Bill Nighy version after ten minutes because I found his performance so grating. Many thanks.
Basis of the TV series 'The Charmer' (Nigel Havers as Gorse and Bernard Hepton as Stimpson)
Great idea for rock music….😜
Thank you for this very well done dramatization of the classic story! Try to see the 1973 movie version starring the late, great Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. Really unnerving and worth the watch!
Oh no, I love the film - as you say, incredibly unnerving. There's an earlier BBC radio adaptation on this channel too, from about twenty years back, also well done.
Gee whiz this was excellent
Fantastic film and the ending ! 😮😮😮
Not heard of "Someone in the Lift". What a shame the TV version is lost.
Yes, it was shown as part of 'Late Night Line Up' - but rather intriguingly they *have* recently re-discovered a reading of The SIgnalman recorded for Late Night Line Up in the 1960s, performed by Emlyn Williams. I had no idea that existed either, but given that Williams's 1950s reading of the story for TV is lost, it's a wonderful compensation...
Great story good acting. Music not so much
I like the narrators voice. Don't get caught with your hand in thr cookie jar, it might be like that pain box in dune.
