I am a photographer based in the English Lake District. My photography is predominately landscape/travel.
This channel is to allow me to share my experiences as I go out taking photographs. This could be a short trip aimed just a getting the photographs or a longer time combining both hiking and photography. I may also put up some videos showing the processing or framing of my photographs.

Minimalism in the High Fells - Landscape Photography
Needing a good walk I head into the High Fells of the Lake District and look for some minimalistic landscape photography.
I decide I need a good walk after recent short walks. I thus decide to walk from home up to Blueberry Fell and High Seat. A not dissimilar walk as the first video I put up nearly four years ago (czcams.com/video/V2AhBLLYwDU/video.html).
Due to the overcast weather and where I was going (into the misty fells) I decided to look out minimalistic images.
I came back home via the lake shore.

Sycamore Gap without the Sycamore - Landscape Photography

I explore Hadrian´s Wall for images even without the iconic sycamore. I decide to stop off at Hadrian's Wall on the way to the Mother East. I wanted to see if it was possible to still get good images in this area despite the vandalism that was the cutting down of the famous sycamore. I think I manage to show it is an area still worth visiting with the camera. Two videos from July/August 2022. c...

It's much appreciated that you film so much of the walks rather than just photo locations. I know these paths so well but can't be there very often, so at least I can experience them through your videos. 👍🙏
Thank you so much for your kind words. One of my aims is to encourage people to get out. Thus they need to see the area not just the images captured.
it's soothing and beautiful for eyes.
Thank you for taking the time to comment,
Brilliant videoing and photos been there many a time lovely place keld nice pictures 📸 😊
Thank you for taking the time to both watch and comment.
Well mr keswick lovely video's and photos pity about the jetty and the stones but nice 😊
Thank you for taking time to comment.
Quite the area of exploration and a wonderful walk indeed. Great images by the way!!
Thank you for taking time to watch and for your kind words.
It's always good to be out whether any photographs are made or not.
It is indeed. That you for your comment.
The UK countryside is dotted with lonesome trees in photogenic settings - ripe for wide angle or telephoto work. However rather than getting upset at the loss of one tree, most of these solitary trees are a result of hundreds of years of overwhelming numbers of sheep and deer eating all the seedlings. We need to wonder why there are no other trees.
Thank you for your thoughts. I do like a lone tree as a number of my videos show.
Your channel title mentions framing, therefore would you perhaps do a video on framing and matting techniques and discus the effects they have on the presentational mood of the photo etc.
Thank you for taking time to comment. I have one video here czcams.com/video/Wxc2HEHbPmA/video.html but will look to do another in the future.
Great video I just can’t believe someone cut the tree down so sad. For the other comments like to see them go do a vlog. Have a Great coming week!! Cheers from Thunder Bay🇨🇦
Thank you and have a good week yourself.
i thought the music was very good
Thank you. Music is a personal thing. Glad you liked it.
I am envious at all the old stone buildings and ruins you have to spice up your landscapes with yon your islands . Here at best we have some old red-pianted boat shacks. It does help that said boat house is in a Norwegian landscape though....lol Enjoyed the vid.
Thank you for taking time to comment. The stone is not that old, only 1,900 years!!
@@keswicklimeyphotography lol
Different strokes for different folks, but I personally found this videos accompanying music a bit annoying and distracting. I guess it goes along with "my" dislike for extremely long exposure water images. People have different taste and that's okay. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for commenting. The music I chose was talking about a wall but maybe in hindsight is a bit to much, sorry.
Glad to hear you are happy with the Platyball. I have no use for it, but like I told you on Fb, I love my Platypod. It is a little gadget that is always with me.
I understand that some equipment appeals to one person and someone else cannot see the point. I am pleased with it and would recommend it but realise the other people may not like it as much as me.
Compared to a normal ballhead the two button approach is awfully slow and you lack any feedback how loose or tight it is at any moment. On both the UniqBall and the Novoflex Magicball tightening and loosening the ballhead takes a fraction of a second and you know how well you tightened it because of the force you have to exert to do so...
Karl thank you for your comment and feed back. There is feed back that the bullhead is getting tighter because the tighter it gets the button gets harder to press.
@@keswicklimeyphotography But still it takes several seconds to lock it down compared to a normal ballhead where it is just a turn of the hand... It may not matter for landscape but for my macro photography it does. I currently use a Novoflex Magicball ballhead on a wooden Berlebach Mini L tripod which gives me freedom to position my camera at between 2-70cm height with great stability, especially when the ground is uneven or slanted (like hillsides usually are) I don't think either the Platypod nor that head would be a good choice for me...
Always enjoy seeing other people’s videos of this phenomenal night. I can only imagine your feeling when you saw that first image of the sky above the church! Loved hearing all the jubilation from people in the background. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your kind words.
I like that your images are "real" looking, not overly processed.
Thank you for taking time to comment. That is the aim. I want to show what was there in fount of me.
You should have had a look at smithy fall the small waterfall one for next time 👍
I was not aware of this and cannot see a waterfall marked on the map on Smithy Beck. Will look it out next time. Thank you for the information.
When I get in moods where I'm not sure where to go, I just do something else without the camera and then I get ideas. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for that thought. I will bear it in mind.
From the longer distance, the half second images are the most appealing to me.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I have been putting both images up knowing that people have different preferences.
Nice video and photos 👍
Thank you.
Really enjoyed theses videos looks like a good day’s photography keep them coming 👍
Thank you for your kind words.
Beautiful video, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. 👍32
Thank you, it was my pleasure.
loved that bridge with those vivid greens. In my part of the world most roads where built after WWII so bridges are just a concrete slab over a creek.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Great shot of the waterfall at 4:40. Really nicely balanced, the building on the right (along with the green grass) fits well in the frame. Nice
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Well done David, not the easiest conditions for waterfall shooting. You have encouraged me to visit, probably in the Autumn. See you later in September. Ken
Thank you so much. A little less water would have been better but you have to do the best with that you are given.
I am assuming the water fall must be on private property. Thanks for sharing
I have just checked the map and there is a path going behind the building to the right and then joins the river but upstream of the waterfall.
Thats very nice 👍 bee enjoyed watching and some great shots there 👌
Thank you for taking time to comment and your kind words.
Amazing shots of this beautiful tree. Brought tears to my eyes to see it before it was so violently distroyed. 😢
It was a sad occasion.
I do love Swaledale and the River Swale. I think my personal preference is 1/2 second exposure. Once again an enjoyable video and gives us the opportunity to visit from our couches 😊. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Another lovely Video David, I'm up in the Dales in a couple of weeks for a few days so I will look up some of these waterfalls, take care, Colin.
Thank you for commenting. Watch out for next week’s video when I explore more waterfalls round Keld.
Will do
wow! the photos were beautiful
Thank you so much.

The Sea Eagle shots you showed, you did fantastically well getting those sharp at 1/640s. Well done.
Thank you for your kind words.
Lovely spot David. Is it far from where you live? Coming to England in 2026 for photography tour and want some spots like this to concentrate on.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Where I parked was a drive of a little over half an hour from home.
Sounds disappointed about the images he could see..... Put's out stunning photography that live in other peoples dreams 🙂

Beautiful images, David.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
It's certainly beautiful up there from your view. Thanks for sharing
It is my pleasure particularly when I get such nice responses.
Another gem of a Video David, images were great, but that wind is very difficult but you got there, I remember my Late Wife and I used to get the Boat from Glenridding to Howtown and drop down into Martindale to the Church, I believe it had the oldest Yew tree possibly in England whether that was true I'm not sure, and then we walked back to Glenridding via a Farm a beautiful walk views all the way and had to stop at the Cafe for afternoon Tea, sadly we cannot do it anymore, regards, Colin.
Thank you for your comments. I am please that it brought back good memories.
I like the possibility of focus bracketing. I have a Canon 5D II, some don’t think it is compatible (I think you have a 5D IV right)? As always a fascinating watch, and a lovely setting - thanks for posting.
I have just checked the website and it is compatible with the 5D II but the Geotag does not work.
Nifty little gadget that.
it is indeed.
Beautiful place. Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍39

I'm moving back up to the Lakes this summer. I can't wait for my first swim in Bassenthwaite, used to be one of my favourties.
Thank you for commenting. I must admit I don't understand wild water swimmers. Everyone to their own.
Thanks for sharing 😊 I am sat on my porch near the White Mountains in New Hampshire in the U. S. which is beautiful, but the Lakes are very special and I am sure you pause and take a deep breath every now and again to drink it all in. Of course photography is a great way to do that 😅
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Another amazing video and love the areas you have to photograph.Great work!!!Cheers from Thunder Bay 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you once again. I forget sometimes how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful area.
Really like your shot at 17:47. The small church in the foreground really shows the scale of the landscape behind!
Thank you so much.
Also just watched the Video of the Church must remember that for next visit, lovely Images.
Thank you for taking the time to both watch and comment.
Yes i agree with you Bassenthwaite has very limited Photographic opportunities beautiful countryside but thats about it, I think you made the best of what there was with some very nice Images, best Wishes, Colin.
Thank you for your kind words.
A wonderful place to visit and really enjoyed the railway and its surroundings!!👍👍
Thank you so much. Somewhere a bit different.
@@keswicklimeyphotography yes this was different then the lakes and hills. Mabey would you say something about the history of the rail
That would be a good idea but unfortunately I don't really have the time to do the resource at the moment.
Love all things Railway, I have a Large oo gauge model Railway at home so I liked the Video, best wishes, Colin.
Thank you for taking time to comment. I would love a model railway but unfortunately do not have the time, space or money.
