I hate slides just because of this reason. I've been in an Axis with the slides in its extremely tight and barely useable. One of the reasons we went with Airstream. However Airstream is not a guarantee of quality either. Owners have had doors open in movement after being locked and closed. I recommend always using the deadbolt.

With all the issues I continue to hear about with RVs. I have decided not to buy one. I’ll just buy a really nice tent and a cot.

Newly built RV , trip to Alaska? Talk about russian roulette. Impression I get is you need the shake the foundation massively to get it to settle properly , THEN you do the repair work and get the silicone out.

I'm glad that this woman shared her bad experiences with Jayco. Now others who are thinking about buying one can avoid lower quality products. Also, if I were in her position, I would sell the camper, take the loss on it, and wait a few more years. If possible, take a friend or relative with you the next time you go shopping. I know how upset you must feel, but you really need to calm down and realize that these kinds of bad deals do happen. Don't blame yourself. But life goes on! Just get it fixed, then sell it, pay down the loan, and get a different one in a few years. That company must be nuts to be doing these bad deals with new customers.

Liz, thank you for another excellent video. I’ve commented on your videos a number of times, and always feel like an outlier compared to most viewers opinions. I’ve had an RV of some type for over 35 years, totaled close to 270,000 miles across 8 rigs, and yes, I’ve seen quality go down ( just like many things). The all fiberglass molded units you mention are outstanding and if it fit my lifestyle and budget I would buy a Coach House product. Seen and love them. From my personal experience my 1996 Winnebago motorhome was built better than my 2014 Forest River, which was built better than my 2022 Winnebago class A gasser, which is my present RV. Did I have more problems with this one compared to my others? Yes, but most were accessory items like water pumps, step motors, rear camera, etc. Is it built as sturdy as my 1996, NO! But I’ve got three years and 40,000 miles and don’t think it’s falling apart anytime soon. I’m betting I get another 5 years 60,000 miles before selling. But- that doesn’t mean I don’t fix something every 5,000 miles, but I can fix a lot of things on these RV’s or my house so I’m lucky. Unfortunately, this is a difficult and expensive lifestyle if you can’t, so think hard before buying one. Until pressure to change the industry hits their bottom line, I don’t see manufacturers changing soon. Anyway- excellent videos, excellent channel. Thank you

This was an awesome video with lots of knowledge as for the gentleman training your tank. There’s an oil and fuel absorbing pads, and the slang word for it is diapers that could’ve been laid out there prior to draining the tank and prior to filling the tanks on the trailer.

Just started watching these - NO RV experience, just curious. Testament to the nice host and easy presentation. A real person. Great job! To the many problems highlighted in this community, wow! , these really are disposable homes for the most part. Airstream has the right engineering idea - metal body to a metal frame. Just like a car. Keep it simple. And less storage = less junk to cart around.

So lessons learn you should’ve never accepted this trailer with these damages. Also dealer/sales person they could’ve made this right with this lady. This fifth wheel was damaged on the way to delivery. This takes me back to over 20+ years a friend of mine bought a brand new Ford from the dealership, it got damaged on the train on the way down to be delivered in Georgia. They fixed it up and sold it to him as new. He went up to Detroit to talk to them about this. They did not make it right for him. Long story short, he will never ever buy a Ford and he has kept all his paperwork and everything dealing with them. Big business run this country.

This is a great video and this is why many of us prior to buying a RV or a motorhome. We do a lot of research through CZcams and peoples comments. Don’t take your videos down never ever take them down and never ever give up. Don’t let them big bullies push you around when pushed pushed back. I remember over eight years ago a coworker of mine traded in his travel trader and got a new one and basically he said their pieces of junk. He worked construction so when he went on the road, he would take his travel trailer with him. What he basically said when you move them from a to B they’re like going through a tsunami or hurricane, unless you have an airstream. However, I do CZcams and on them also and this one was fairly new. Were it actually popped the ribbon out of one of them and he was a new owner of it.

Liz this is not just happening in the USA. This is happening all over the EU as well. You call them RVs we call them motorhomes, now some of the best European made motorhomes are German built. Because of the quality of materials and the work force, some of these older motorhomes are still looking as good as the day they were built 10 years plus ago. Now the industry has slipped back and are delivering poor quality builds that need constant repair. Its not just RVs, Motorhomes and Caravans. We are seeing this decline in quality in the motor industry also. Homes are not safe from the decline in quality of build either. Many new homes start to have problems within the first weeks of a new owner moving in. The problem we have is the youth of today do not want to learn skills, they want to be social media bloggers and influencers. So now we have no skilled labour any where around the world.

always always always bring your bike into the hotel room. Take it up the elevator, bring it into the room. Don't lock it up outside, don't leave it attached to your vehicle, bring it in to your room. (comment prior to finish the video :( but still true)

Two things, first a question. Why are the interiors of most US RVs and 5th wheelers so stayed, old fashioned, 60s style wood trim. What about modernising them. Secondly, the reason for the massive drop in build quality is a lot of manufacturers have been taken over by investor groups. They are only interested in profit-optimization. Parts are now being sourced in China and other Asian suppliers. Quality no longer exists, mass production and rapid turnaround times is the flavour of the day.

Sounds to me like the company is missing a golden opportunity to step up and make things right. Every manufacturer has problems - as long as they bend over backwards to fix them, and implement better quality control standards, then they should have no problem attracting customers.

Yea i bought a used 2007 fleetwood bounder from private seller and paid 25000 and rushed into it and took his word and now im in about 60000 and have it gutted out from floor to ceiling cause mold issues and reason i found the mold was cause health issues. Put everything new from fridge ,convertor ,heater .water heater,generator..everything..i was stupid by trusting people ..nothing i can do im full timer and have so much in it now have no choice but to keep going. I dont have money to continue was laid off ,but anyway. I read fleetwood was one of best made and this is put together so horrible. Doing work myself so i see how shotty its made windows have 1/4 inch gaps all around..every window..and it not from seals over time.i put new seals and still had gaps. ..a/ c was dripping in rv for years that was where most of the mold came from. Anyway people look out and get inspections!! There is absolutely no honest people anymore are selling something. They just want cash and full of greed. Even the companies themselves. Shame now ..anyway im stuck and spreading info. Look out everyone interested in rv'ing. ..check roof to bottom of them. There is ALWAYS something they are not telling u

Junk.....Buy a 4runner with a good set of tires, build a sleeping platform and away you go. I just drove from Canada to Cabo and had zero issues. Keep it lean and simple

Many years ago I moved from California to missouri. I had a wife and four daughters! I sold my house and bought some land and a mobile home on a lot in st francois county, farmington missouri! I sold the land and bought a lot in doe run missouri. With the help from some members of my church I built a house on that lot! They cheated me on some of the materials and i was unable to finish the house. For several years I purchased the materials to finish the house. I boarded up and locked the house. One day when I was going to put another item in the house I found it broken into and the tens of thousands of dollars of building materials were gone. Apparently a group of drug addicts with the help of a local drug dealer robbed everything I had and destroyed my dream for my family! They even came back later and started to take the windows and the doors and some of the 2x4 posts from the building. The sheriff and his deputes where worthless and useless! This is what is left of the bible belt, thieves and druggies. What made this worse was the missouri state supreme court, they illegally bypassed the state legislatures and created a rule out of thin air called bail reform. This was not bail reform, it was a get out of jail free card for criminals! By the miracle that these animals were ever apprehended they would be out of jail without having to post bond in just a few hours to continue to commit terrible crimes! This is what america means to me, a sewer from hell! WE are still living in the mobile home, victims of the state and criminals!

As an author of books on food and travel, my wife and I travel the world and for business and pleasure been to all 50 states. When I was a college professor we had NO money. So, we bought used three to four year old campers and found they were better than many new ones. Reason is, owners if handy fix them up better with better work, fit and finish, etc. Us too, as we would buy say a three year old 5th wheel and add insulation to closets, hand rails upstairs to the full bedroom and full bathroom. We replaced most everything over time and then sold it for a good price. My wife of 55 years and I are handy, and that is a must unless you want to just stay in hotels, etc. I must say, we have actually seen the quality from many manufactures go down over the past 50 years. Some of the best quality work is now being done in Red Bay, Alabama where they make Tiffin Motorhomes. We camped out all over America with owners and they say only great things about their quality and all said they stayed in a motel and watched every step of manufacture. They also make Allegro Bay, and others all top notch and loved by owners. They stand by their product quality according to at least 35 owners over the years. We got to go inside and inspect the quality and we know a company that has pride in their products then and now! Glad to be warned about Thor.

the company WON'T buy it back because that sets a precedent for a flood of other owners to follow. They can quickly lose all of their profit fixing or buying back rigs because literally ALL of them have problems. There is not a single one that doesn't have problems, and they know it.

I've stored my bike in my truck bed on numerous occasions in some fairly sketchy areas (urban/city). Always cover it! I also use multiple locks. Plus I strip it of the valuable parts - battery, seat, front tire. Between the lack of parts and multiple locks I've never had a problem.

You are not the first by any means to criticise Lippert for a poor product. Keep going!

They should replace it and give the young lady a new camper. She agreed to buy a safe defect, free quality product. They should do what they need to do to make that happen. Give her a new camper!

Doesnt matter what manufacturer you buy. If you're not handy to fix stuff as they fail, you will have a horrible experience. Its a moving house and stuff breaks all the time.
