Major continuity error: They Federation never met the Gorn race before Captain Kirk met them in TOS. This is all wrong. Didn't the writers of this show ever watch Star Trek?

If you put this soundtrack on the intro to ep 7 (the Lower Decks crossover), you'd have a Ship of Theseus type version of the intro. The only thing that would be original would be Anson Mount's voiceover.

I've watched this clip and I just now caught a nod to tng at 3:18. Boimler shouts "Remember me" as he gets sucked in. That has to be a reference to the Tng episode Remember Me.

The Gorn? Damn, i never expected to hear the name of that race again! The last time i heard of them, was back then when i played "Starfleet Command" but that was literally decades ago!

I didn't expect the SNW crew to end up animated at the end. This was my favorite episode of Lower Decks.

Paramount+ should go out of business, first they allowed Kevin Costner to screw up their release of Yellowstone Season 5 and then they canceled Star Trek Prodigy despite positive reviews.

Ironically, this episode made me want a live action lower decks series.

I do believe that this is what Star Fleet would call a....Kobayashi Maru. Think on it for a moment. The Admiral is ordering them to return to base, they have 100's of people are hostages to the Gorn, the Gorn are attacking them and they don't want to leave behind said hostages, and the ship is in borderline bad shape. Sure the order from command would be to run, but if you leave the hostages to the Gorn, then the hostages are basically going to become Gorn and then you have more to worry about in the future. If you try to risk saving them, you risk the chance to be infected and become a Gorn yourself or be killed in the process, basically it's a suicide mission. Waiting for backup is a bad move too, because there can only be so much done to stall for time for said backup. I do think negotiations would fall short too as I don't think the Gorn are the negotiating type. If you fight, you may end up using what systems you have left till empty and then risk the ship being captured and/or destroyed. I know that there will be a way out in the following season, but this looks like a no-win scenario at face value.

This cross over was an act of desperation on the part of those ruining, I mean running the franchise. Can't get the uniforms right, the enterprise still looks like an apple store, and casting looks like they were going off a checklist . Paramount deserves to go bankrupt for flushing their biggest cash cow down the toilet
