Do not cry over the collapse of apostate denominations. This is a blessing. The faster they collapse, the better. The Lord said, "I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt 16:18). The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:18). The Spirit commands, "Come out of her, my people so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues" (Rev 18:4). The sheep hear the shepherd's voice; they know their shepherd, and they follow their shepherd (John 10:27). The sheep will not follow a stranger's voice; they will run from him (John 10:5).

I agree with your response, but I’d add that if a person doe’s turn to Christ in faith, and is baptized into Him, they will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will enable them to be freed from the bondage of the sin of sexual immortality.

Hi Pastor John, I definitely can appreciate the first thing you describe with battle songs. Battle songs can really invigorate the spirit to prepare for that spiritual battle. When I was reading Isaiah today I actually read through Isaiah 30:32 "And in every place where the staff of punishment passes, Which the Lord lays on him, It will be with tambourines and harps; And in battles of brandishing He will fight with it." I see this verse really giving a backbone to your first suggestion but certainly all 7 suggestions you gave are valid. Praise God for your faithfulness and knowledge He has entrusted to you! At one point in your commentary you said ( and I'm paraphrasing) that there is no I think it's true and then I don't think it's true. Actually that is a common and real occurrence. But I don't think you meant it the way it came out. But you nailed it with there is no "your truth" and no "my truth" but only The Truth. Just pointing that out as an FYI on how it came across to me. It doesn't surprise me where the UMC has gone because decades ago, it's been so long I can't remember exactly when, I read that only 22% of UMC pastors believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God. If you don't believe that the one source of your church doctrine is God's Word, why would you even be a pastor?

And by the way! The homosexuals and others are saying Love Is Love but the life they live is not nothing to do with true love it is unnatural acts of sex and desires off the f l e s h.

The reason this is all happening is because God prophesied in the Bible that these things would occur. If these things did not happen as God said they would then the Bible would be wrong. And we can't have that

I was shocked. Thank you for highlighting the pastor’s false teaching. I hurt for the people who hear him and believe him. It shows me how important diligent Bible study is. Any lover of Scripture would nail that man as false in one flat second.

I was a part of the United Methodist church. I was a conservative in a district that became very liberal. My congregation wanted to leave, but the cost was positive and leaders made it impossible. . Most of the congregation became discouraged and left, and i couldn't remain with a clear conscious. Im now left with no congregation, wishing i had left sooner. Most conservative denominationscant believe im conservative. A traditional conservative methodist is still different a conservititive Baptist or Presbyterian, etc. I'm left for the moment meating with about 30 in my garage with no denomination backing feeling like an outsider.

The UMC is dead. Spiritually dead. Wesley and Wilberforce weep. 😢

This is not new as you know and the Bible talks much about mocking. We must pray for them for they are filled with anger and their families probably have disowned them. May they find peace with the God they mock.

There are a lot of excuses going on. Greece started the Olympics and this was (apparently) a show of the paganism of the time (I didn't look it up, so I'm not sure when the Olympics started and if it connects to when [if] they ever stopped this type of pagan worship). I'm not sure Greece wants to be known for that part of their history, but apparently it's being repeated in the Western world now. Not for me, thanks. I agree it has nothing to do with sportsmanship.

My pastor only condemned what happened in the most vague terms, "political violence is bad, please don't do that", etc, but would not call evil for what it was, nor specifically call out by name what took place (i.e. the attempted assassination of presidential candidate Donald Trump). There was also no mention of any potential spiritual component to what took place (see Ephesians 6:12), and while, as you said, one can't expect a pastor to change his sermon last minute on a Saturday, the whole thing felt tone deaf and truly underplayed what just almost happened.

I’m a retired Pastor who chose to remain in the UMC. I leave judgment to God. I don’t believe that I am in an apostate church or I should repent. Love endures and hopes. I believe in a God that would have made it possible for all to be welcomed in order for them to hear the Word of God weekly and repent as needed. I don’t believe that you are in any position to judge the body of Christ.

Actually, I couldn’t care less about the Olympics themselves, so I was unaware of this blasphemous act until you brought it to my attention. We shouldn’t be surprised that this sort of thing is happening. Both Jesus and Paul warned us that such things would occur in the last days before Christ’s return. I’m glad that the “Tares” no longer pretend to be wheat. False believers are what brings reproach upon Christ’s Church. This present darkness allows our light’s to appear more brightly. Watch and pray.

They know how deeply unpopular it is. If people put the two and two together and realize what it means, who is doing it, there'd be a lot of lost support. And the IVF, birth control and other family planning tools getting lumped in with these measures... People got wise it would make it a lot more difficult to implement their plans to implement a theocracy.

After years of serving as an elder and adult Bible class teacher, I left PCUSA four years ago. The rise of LGBTQ-affirming beliefs within the denomination helped me see clearly the many practices of the PCUSA church that are, in fact, inconsistent with the Word of God. Serving on a committee to hire a music director, I was forced to self examine: How could I rightfully stand against hiring a same-sex married music director when I would not object to the many other manmade traditions being practiced and sins going on in the church that are inconsistent with the Word of God? They are there. If you know scripture and have an honest heart, you will see it. I encourage all readers to seek fellowship with a church whose members call themselves Christians (not Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, etc), and who faithfully strive to be the Christian church you read about in the New Testament. Let there be no divisions among us. (I Cor 1:10). Blessings.

The church where I used to attend is luke-warm at most about this. There is fear about even mentioning abortion, so it is very rare to hear any word about it. Likewise, the church stays silent about what Jesus said to proclaim in His name, Repentance and Forgiveness of sin (Luke 24:47). It might offend somebody. The top of the church's hierarchy is a PRIDE preaching and unrepenting homosexual. Not a word about it is ever allowed at that church.

Majority of abortions are by pill ordered in the mail. You can order the pills, often for free, even from locations in so-called pro-life states. It's a whole new realm.

I agree with, @ptd4776 below and some of replys to his comment. I wouldn't repeat them but want to add; We who understand that our salvation is of God also must undestand we each have a role in His plans. Be not afraid of people. This includes misters, preachers, teachers, drinkers, conservatives, liberals the LBTGQ+! IF you can or are led to, walk amongst the unsaved in twos or more, with love. Trust in our Lord! Listen to them, talk to them, pray for them and for each other. Do this IF YOU CAN! Avoid getting into protracred biblical arguments. There is little to gain. The first followers of "The Way" had problems with each others on where they should go. They had isses with how long the should stay in a location and what manner, or method to use as they reached out to the "unsaved" to the lost, Jews and non Jews alike. This lead them to separate, in love and spread out to cover more ground. Do you think God was frustrated by this? Or did HE used these flawed humans to spread His Word, that is Christ, all over? Let us not give in to fear. There ARE wolves in sheep`s clothing amongst us but be not afraid! Inform each other as it is being done here.

I get frustrated on how many ministers seem to be clueless about what is on the minds of their congregations. Trump almost died? No comment. Talking about hurricanes 1000 miles away, they have to comment. Tell me if your pastor said anything about the attempt on Donald Trumps near death experience.

The United Methodist Church left God. Why would I follow it. Why would I support an organization or a church that did not follow Jesus. The UMC will continue to decline while the Global Methodist church continues to grow.

Was he a young, inexperienced preacher, or is this a preacher who loves hearing himself week by week? In both cases I suppose you could pray for an opportunity to share what you think about his preaching with him. Sorry to say I recognise the same issue in Europe. God bless you.
