Hello! I have a 2018 Outback and all of a sudden it appears the camera lense has been tilted down. Is there a way to fix that?
Where did You get that wilderness badge in your co-pilot door?
Субару едет только при условии - газ в пол) Этой машине нужен лифт подвески +2.5 см.
It normally rides on a bigger lift than that (6.5cm), but we had a part failure during this trip, before we got there, that forced us to lower it, below OEM height, sadly. Either way, the mud was the biggest problem. We dragged hundreds of pounds of clay mud with the underside of the car. It took weeks to get it all out from underneath.
@@user-gf7tu9fq2c if you like the Tribeca, you will probably LOVE the Ascent. It's comfier, much more powerful, and even better off road (check out some of my other vids). I off road the Ascent all over the country, and have a very comfortable time because with all the extra room, I bring a fridge/freezer, stoves, big tent, queen size bed, and all the comforts of home. I eat steak and eggs and drink hot coffee for breakfast in the desert - I don't even do that at home. lol!!! 😜 If you plan on rock crawling, definitely get the Jeep. The Ascent has a long wheelbase and big front nose, so, it is horrible at rock crawling.
Приятных путешествий))
I hate it when they say "Normal" I KNOW IN FACT, NO ENGINEERS DESIGN THIS TO MAKE A CHIRP! Unless you can clearly show and state in the design documents that the chirp is "by design", it isn't. Seriously.... just cause it doesn't KILL someone doesn't mean it isn't faulty engineering. DO THE RIGHT THING Subaru. Lots of loyal people out there, don't need this excuse.
Ummm.... it's the engineers who deemed the sound normal, just so you know. Metal makes sounds when it grabs like that. It's like the TR690's loud chain whirring... normal too, even if people don't like it (and believe me, people HATED it when it first came out - you should see some of the stuff Car & Drive wrote).
@@SubaruAmbassadorRobert I work in software development, if you can show me that was "design by" then sure.. if not it's just he said, she said because it doesn't kill any customers.
@@HbYu-yt7ek you can literally look up the TSB's on this and see what the software is doing. Not sure why you made up a conclusion before you researched. It's all public information. You can also get an STIS subscription and start training on the HT-TR690 - alas, I can't confer years of learning about how it works in a CZcams reply. The system pressurizes, but allows the forward/reverse changeover mechanism to engage before it is pressurized for FAST engage, because doing so causes no damage. The clutch pack slow engagement makes the "chirp" as it engages and locks. The software prioritizes pressurizing the variators, then the input clutch. The F/R changeover just needs to reach full engagement in a second or so and it then stays that way until hydraulically disengaged (eg: "shifting" into neutral). BTW, since you think it's relevant, I'm currently the Director of Infrastructure for a state agency, with a background in programming, software development, hardware systems and cybersecurity, with around 4 decades of experience. That too you can research - you will find it on LinkedIn.
Loved the video but the elevator music was too much. It would had been nice to hear the engine grunts in the sand. Maybe next time break up the music and add genuine sounds
Thanks! Yeah, that's something that we wanted to do, but we didn't have extra mic packs. All the in-camera on-car mics pick up most of the time is wind noise. We've got four "in-device" tiny mic packs now that we can mount in or on the car in various places like up in the windshield cowl area out of the wind, etc, that can grab some nice road and car noise. We've also started running extra cams out of the wind to grab some audio. When we do some of the slower stuff, we get some nice car audio, like in some of the "normal speed" video sections in our "Moab Madness" video. But mostly, when moving even at those speeds (15-30 mph), the audio mostly sounds like a wind storm, lol!
What is your rims and tires size for your ascent. Look very nice
Thanks! 17" Liquid Metal Shadows wrapped with 245/65R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. If you need a hybrid all-terrain/mud-terrain, I *highly* recommend them, otherwise, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are an awesome choice that's a little bit more road friendly yet very capable off road.
Is your Ascent on a lift?
In some of the videos - definitely in this vid.
These instructions worked well.

Once again, Robert, you save the day. Thank you for your dedication to the Subaru Community!!!
My pleasure!! And thanks much for the kind words!!!
In your opinion, how would you rank/compare the offroad capabilities of the ascent and the two wilderness trims?
Hmmm... The Ascent is beastly powerful like the Outback Wilderness, and (with sway bars connected) can articulate any corner fully, unlike the smaller Subies, so that's a big plus. But, it has a MASSIVE belly and horrible angles, so, it hands down loses in those areas compared to all three Wildernesses. It does climb pretty effortlessly though, in some ways, better than the three Wildernesses, if it's moderately rutted, because it can keep wheels on the ground on changing terrain. Out of the factory, I'd choose a Wilderness over an Ascent though - the Ascent needs a bunch of work to make it off-road suitable (wheels, tires, stuff to improve angles). And if power is what you want, the Outback Wilderness is the clear winner. But, all three are great options. For better angles and a decent amount of space, I'd go Forester Wilderness. If you don't carry around a lot, and want something with great angles, I'd definitely go Crosstrek Wilderness.
I came here after seeing a post you made claiming that these CVT Subarus are more capable than the older ones with 5EAT trans and I just thought that was the fucking funniest thing I've read all year. Your piece of shit CVT based Subaru will never be even remotely as capable as the older ones with traditional transmissions. I'm literally watching you spin all over the place in this video places that I would have no issues with. Please smoke less crack before posting online. 😂🤡
Thank you very much! I had a flat today (6/18/24) in my 2020 Ascent. I had no idea where the spare was. I watched your video on the side of the road on my iPhone and was able to remove the spare and change my tire. Thanks dude! Your video helped me tremendously. 👍👍👍
Glad it helped!!!
I bet that CVT is hot
Why would it be hot? It's got an OEM cooler. It runs VERY cool most of the time. Check out this vid... 165°F after spending all day climbing 4x4 trails in the desert. czcams.com/video/Lo588KoHE2o/video.htmlsi=FGBHKgdaAvtw8l8n&t=1125
This was just the video I needed. I couldn't find any information that explained the process of adding a playlist to a USB device in terms I could understand. For the 1st time I was able to play songs in the order I wanted in my Ford Escape tonight. Thanks for making the video. 👍
Glad it helped!
So is this a common issue with the Ascents?
It doesn't seem to be. Not many complaints about them cracking.
How well do these do on black ice/ hard snow?
Surprisingly well. FAR better than the KO2's I got rid of. They're obviously not winter tires and won't compete with them, but they're up there for the best All Terrain I've used on ice and hard packed snow.
I own the same, but the first thing I did was swap for true Off-Road Tires! TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T III' Way more grip that the Yokohama Geolander's
Yep, the stock Geolandars are definitely street biased.
Took my stock 2010 forester down mineral creek last summer. Thought it would be my end, but I made it out alive. Overall, 0/10 would not recommend.
LOL! Yeah, it's a tough one.
Thank you for this video. I gotta say that this is how this type of information video should be made. Short and simple and only talk about the important stuff. Lots of people talk lots of nonsense in their video that I just loose my patience and stop watching.
Glad it was helpful! And, yes, I try to organize the info and just drop what's needed. I prefer it that way too. :-)

Смешные ребята, у нас в Карели, такая дорога часто ведет к магазину с хлебом )
This one does too, either direction. The way we were heading, it would take us to Big Water, where there's what we would call a "market" (here, we mostly use the term to refer to a small store that sells bread, dairy products, and some other household staples, though sometimes we use it to refer to an actual market with many sellers). The direction we came had a similar market/store in Escalante (which is where we stopped for some more supplies before attempting this road).
I may buy the exact Forester year and color! I already have a 2006 but I’ve always liked the first GEN Forrester.
It is such a cool old school classic!!!
Attn VIRGINIA Drivers - Diode dynamics LED reverse lights will*gail* state inspection.
Why?
So muxh effort to bring trash here instead of going to the dump.
How did the Ascent compare to the Outback & Forester?
My angles are a LOT worse, so, it was easier for me to hit the nose or drag the bumper or scrape the undersides, but, it otherwise compares really well to the Outback Wilderness. The way it spools up power is a little different, even though the drivetrains in the OBW and Ascent are so similar, which gives me a little edge crawling up stuff. The Forester Wilderness has better angles and is easier at doing a bunch of stuff. The OG Forester has the trials of all of the old school Subaru drivetrains where it takes more effort to get up stuff and needs to "speedbump" its way over things the OBW and Ascent can easily slow crawl.
That Forester wheel base seems to shine in these situations
Yes it does, so very much. As does the Crosstrek Wilderness wheelbase. The Ascent takes a LOT of tactical off-roading to get through things, lol!!!
This is "Awesome"!
Thanks!
Those are the woods i grew up in and wheeled in as a kid. thank you soo much for cleaning all that up!! Alot of that trash has been there about just as long. Maximum respect guys. Wish i could have joined you

Hi Robert, did you ever change your turn signals?
Hey! So sorry it took so long for me to see this. No, they're stock.
Where those stock geolanders on some of the vehicles? Outbacks stock height? Plan on taking OBW out in August. 2inch lift, AT4s, and torq locker. Hopefully it’ll be enough!
Yes, one of them is on the stock Geolandars and stock height (the green one). My Ascent is running with the same Torq Locker you'll be putting in your OBW. It makes an already exceedingly capable AWD system even more capable. @OffRoadRoos will be holding a bunch of off-road events out there in August, so, definitely check our event schedule on Facebook over the next month or two as they get posted. Hope you can join us!
That’s awesome. I hope so too. I would really like to learn as much as I can.
@@SubaruAmbassadorRobert you guys did engineer pass them onto mineral creek? Would you recommend going that direction?
@@aarontrotter5188 not without a spotter, another vehicle, and a bunch of experience, especially stock. If you do go, be careful of drop offs. This August, we will be doing Imogene Pass.
@@SubaruAmbassadorRobert is there a way to contact people that live out there that might want to get together?
I found this in a forum after much searching for help, not on CZcams. Life saver, should be at the top of the search results list for YT. Great job, thanks!
Thanks much for the kind words!!! Glad it helped!
What wheel set did you put on it? And was it lifted?
Lift varies from 1" to 2.4" depending on when the footage in the video is from. I use Liquid Metal Shadow wheels.
What about the crosstrek?
Which year? All modern Subies, including the XV/Crosstrek, let in virtually no UVA or UVB, but if I know the year, I can post the details.
My brakes were smoking.
From emergency braking? That shouldn't happen.
Now do the 2024 Ascent where they use a non-replaceable integrated LED and that the color temperature doesn't match the rest of the LED's they installed in the car. What the absolute heck is that about.
Definitely shoot Subaru feedback about that (they'd rather hear it directly from you all than relayed from me - though I will send them similar feedback). Next time I get a chance, I will dig into the 2024 and see if anything can be done.
Hi! What a Great Idea!!! I'm thinking on relocate my backup camera but, I don't really understand how to make all those connections and the relay... Would you have a diagram? Thanks in advance.
Not handy, but, when I redo it, I will make a better vid and include diagrams.

What is the pcv hose part number
All part numbers are in the video description. You will need more than just the hose.
I only ever spray my cleaning cloth first, then clean my windscreen, this avoids any overspray 👍 Au
