- We already know the Subaru Outback Wilderness can climb some tough climbs, even on three wheels, BUT, can the Subaru Ascent climb the same tough climb on three wheels while weighing in at nearly 6,000 pounds?!?!

Hi Ed! Thanks for the kind words!!! My 2019 Ascent, like virtually all the rest of the 2019 Ascents, is a part of both recalls, and was likely one of the initial 23 that broke a chain guide and was replaced. Subaru was very quick to take care of it and get me back on my way (and Liberty Subaru did a stellar job doing the actual work, and providing me with a loaner car).
All in all, I am still thrilled with the car, and confidently take it on adventures virtually every month.

I have 2019 ascent and i want to make it more able to go off road...I live in AZ. Not looking to rock climb or anything just camping in the desert. Can you please recommend lift, tires, rims,....heck whatever you have already figured out..lol

In that vid, I am running it with an 18" extension in place, making the total interior usable space 63". Here's the extension (currently over $25 cheaper than when I bought it):

If you get it, follow the tips in the comments about touching up any rough paint places at the welds, and using a good water repellant or petroleum jelly in the joints - it will last a lot longer. I didn't do either of those, and mine is still doing really well, three and a half years later.
