Dudek Solo : 21m Speed Test V2.0 + I got a new wing!!

I'm revisiting a test I did last year on my 21m Dudek Solo. I was not a fan of doing a speed test using GPS data. So, I picked up an anemometer, jumped on the scale with all my gear and went out to test the wing speed at all three popular settings. My AUW was 116 kg (256 lbs.) Plus! I got a new wing. Sneak peek at the end. I think I'm gonna name it Obito ;) Paramotor: Parajet Maverick 185 Parag...

If I can't do it, I know someone who does really good re packs and is really quick.
@@adamsilver7268 sounds good
Thanks for making this video. Quick question. Any idea what size rubber bands you used? I’m looking to repack mine and am trying to research the proper size to have on hand before digging into it.
I couldn't tell you. But, I acquired them from Super Fly.
When I saw the title and the clip in my feed I thought. Hmm it’s something Adam would say and it kinda looks like him. lol then I saw it’s you haha.
🤣
I was more afraid of this than I should. Thank you so much for your video im so glad i came accross it !! Fixed bent Parajet Maverick frame. czcams.com/video/EpmIegDHgWw/video.html
Well done Adam, best repack vid out there...
Thanks John! I truly appreciate the kind words!
Very interesting! Thanks for posting :D
Why can't you just do that every (good weather) day? Sorry.. Newbie here
Oh believe me, if I could, I would. The big issue is getting permission to land on the property. This was kind of an "ask for forgiveness" event. Being a big corporate entity, they see this as a huge insurance liability. The other issue is getting home at the end of the day. Typically, it's quite windy when I get off work and the winds favor the opposite direction I need to go. It would take a significant amount of fuel to make it home with the headwind I would encounter.
Looks like your buddy's rocking an Adventure Pluma! Great frame! Also that dudek solo really comes up quick it looked like, planning on making it my first wing out of training. Ive got either the Solo, Roadster 3 or the Charger 2 are my choices right now. Thoughts?
All good choices for first wings. Out of those three, I'd go with the Solo. The solo is rock solid and has little to no oscillation characteristics. Ozones tend to oscillate more than I like. Chargers are fine but nothing too special. What is your body weight?
@@adamsilver7268 I'm 190lbs 6'4" so my all up, full gas weight in KG would be about 122kg. Puts me in the weight range for a 24m Solo. Thanks for replying so quick!
@@CoyoteOne No problem man! Another wing to consider is the Dudek Universal 1.1. It has great speed range in the trimmers and is a rock solid wing. The solo inflates better and handles sharper, but the universal has an unbeatable trim range. Just depends on your flying style. Also, the pluma is a cool frame but I don't recommend it. I like the Fly Products Ryder a bit more.
Where do you have the TST control? How did you convert it, now 2D?
I disconnected the tip line for the TST at the magnet toggle and tied it to the main brake handle where the main brake line connects. Hope that answers your question!
The music is very irritating. Time for me to find another instructional video. See ya
K bye!
Adam great video. Can you post the dimensions of the your pegboard please?
Simon, I'll try and get some measurements for you. Just to note, I made this one specifically to pack the Ozone Angel Square. All I did was unpack my reserve, count the number of bundles (to determine how many pegs I needed) and spaced them apart slightly shorter than the width of the reserve container (so the line bundles fit neatly in the container). That being said, my peg board might not be ideal for your reserve if it's a different model.
I wish you still made videos, I was an early fan and coming back to revisit a few things to learn! lol
I'll get back into it next season! I just didn't have much time this year to edit.
do you think its a big deal to learn on this wing? I have some time under canopy as have done a couple solo jumps from planes. I just don't want to buy a mojo for 2 weeks later to turn around and want this. thanks
I would not hesitate to learn on this wing. If anything, it will be easier and more enjoyable as the solo inflates much easier and has better flare authority. Reach out to me on Facebook if you have any questions.
at 12:16 - were you just removing the packing line?
Yes, I was taking the line out that you string through the loops at the top of the reserve. David, feel free to message me on Facebook if you have any questions. It's a pretty simple process but does require a little technique.
12:12 is a small deviation from the manual but really helps the skirt want to pop out of the diaper first and prevents it from getting hung up in a corner of the diaper. I saw this mentioned in comments between you and Jay Everts and replayed this section slowly so I was clear on what you both were talking about. After 4 years of flying, I'm ready to start repacking my reserve myself. Thanks for posting this. (I'm going to repack it this time but still send it off and have an experienced packer evaluate how I did.)
"Top secret."
ok this channel is seriously underrated deserves more than 100k subs for sure
Thank you so much for the kind words! Honestly, I'm just grateful for the subs I have. I should be dropping a new video tomorrow.
Only has 273 at the moment though?
34 mph when trimmed out + accelerator... not too much... simple pg can do the same without trimm
Keep in mind that PPG wings just split the full speed range between trims and speed bar. Also, the solo is not considered a fast wing.
Fly to all the parks with signs and buzz their area all day long. I say great airspace for some ACRO Contests.
I liked how you showed us the map Adam. I dislike watching videos where the guy never tells you where he's going or what state or country he's in. Good stuff! Enjoyed it buddy! You should live in that trailer park on your left, you could fly to work everyday! Adam, I flew for Federal Express back in the 70s as a contractor. Did you know Fred Smith CEO was an eye blink away from bankruptcy back then? He moved all his Falcon jets to Little Rock to keep them from being repossessed by Union Planters Bank in Memphis. I go way back. I call him Uncle Fred. He's a Vietnam vet....like me. He toughed it out.
That's awesome! I have a buddy who flys for FedEx as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'd like to include more maps and my general xc planning process on future videos.
@@adamsilver7268 Good idea & please do! And thanks for NOT telling me "thank you for your service." It should be expected from every American.
Bill, I served for 6 years on submarine, I get it. There's just a subconscious respect I have for all veterans. I'd rather just treat you with respect and friendship than give a generic thank you.
@@adamsilver7268 Very well said Adam and likewise from me. You spent six years on a sub! Incredible. I've watched the Scorpion, Thresher & Nautilus disasters on the Tube and the latest one, the Russian sub Kursk named after the big Russian/German tank battle at that location. Type in Kursk Submarine Disaster and watch something that'll scare you to death. Anyway, you have my highest respect. That was (is) some dangerous stuff no matter how high tech they make it now.

Just subbed guy! Great stuff you got! Man, I wish I had a place like that to fly! I'm in north Florida, nothing but trees. I've got 700 feet before the first trees arrive. 28 meter Dudek Universal. I used to live in south Carolina, so I know how you feel with all the trees. I'll try and make some more videos in the best future, just gotta get motivated to do so.
Exactly! Who gets that view? Just you & a few of us! I've got a good video by ultralight too of stuff like that. I was going to intrude into your beautiful day with a link to it but decided no, that it's your video & your great day! Thanks for posting it!
Thanks man! I'd love to see your video from your ultra light! Feel free to post it
I’ve been wanting to learn how to pack my own. Thanks for motivating me more to do it!
nice video, just i would like to comment something to keep in mind: 4:33... since your feet are creating a deflection on laminar airflow, it is afecting to anemo indicatión..doing the anemo shows more airspeed than really is (i dont know the %) but it does it. The feet generate that air must to change the flowvector, increasing the speed on closer layers around the feet,(where is the anemo reading the airspeed..) In fact the best way to ensure a "perfect" reading could be mounting the anemo on stick and place it on side of paramotor (1meter at least)(the suction creates by propeller using anemo in front of that, can create error too) But,well could be maybe the "reading error" its insignificant as test on video is... any way.. Nice video! have a good flights Note: other facts like presure altitude, density, temp... afects to airspeed reading.. but the propose of my post is to pay atencion on that other facts are afecting Same for diferents trims settings, but when feet on speedbar, creates new factor respective to others settings... My english is not so good..my apologies
Epic !!

Adam, I have been running the Off Grid throttle as well and absolutely love it! What is your setup for your audio? It sounds very clear.
Thanks! I use a cardo freecom 4+. I wired the extra microphone that's included to a 3.5mm audio jack that plugs into the GoPro mic adapter on a hero 7.
Lol you’re intro had me rolling. I’ve repacked mine once to practice and then sent it in to get professionally redone. I’m pretty confident I could do it on my own next time it needs done. Advance offers a reserve specific video for my model that walks you through fold-by-fold and there’s little numbered loops to help keep everything organized. Like you said, if you’re a meticulous person, it’s very doable! Edit: My model is Advance Companion SQR 👍
Have we talked about using a regular metric SS screw instead of using the thumbscrew on the chase cam mount? Prevents 99% of crooked issues like you had here by having nothing for the line to catch on. I had it happen once, never again! Great video my dude! I watched it when it came out but must have forgot to comment 😬
I do believe you mentioned the screw to me. I'll have to give it a shot
