- After mailing my reserve to the wrong address for repack, I decided to learn how to repack my Ozone Angel SQ V2 120 all by myself......with helpful guiding words of professionals. I strongly recommend that everyone attempt to pack their own reserve before sending it out for professional repack. You learn a ton about your equipment just by trying.
This video is not intended to provide professional training on how to pack your reserve. This is just a video of my journey through learning how to pack my own gear.

Great video. I completely agree that you are responsible for your own reserve. Good on you for taking a methodical approach to learn this skill.
I’ve been wanting to learn how to pack my own. Thanks for motivating me more to do it!
Lol you’re intro had me rolling. I’ve repacked mine once to practice and then sent it in to get professionally redone. I’m pretty confident I could do it on my own next time it needs done. Advance offers a reserve specific video for my model that walks you through fold-by-fold and there’s little numbered loops to help keep everything organized. Like you said, if you’re a meticulous person, it’s very doable!
Edit: My model is Advance Companion SQR 👍
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Great job!
12:12 is a small deviation from the manual but really helps the skirt want to pop out of the diaper first and prevents it from getting hung up in a corner of the diaper. I saw this mentioned in comments between you and Jay Everts and replayed this section slowly so I was clear on what you both were talking about. After 4 years of flying, I'm ready to start repacking my reserve myself. Thanks for posting this. (I'm going to repack it this time but still send it off and have an experienced packer evaluate how I did.)
This is great stuff dude! Well done on the video but specially on the message and the method on how you went about it. Funny thing, we’re right in the middle of doing a video exactly like this, thanks for all the info! :)
😍😍 Andre Bandarra commented on one of my video 😍😍 my life is complete 💀⚰️🥀
Thanks so much! I spent a couple months really trying to learn what I could. I am still seeking out someone local to help share some knowledge. Reserve packing is something I feel is not taught in ppg and I would love to learn and help those around me be more knowledgeable about their gear.
I was also thinking all afternoon about messaging you a question on an unrelated topic. Y'all are the best!
@@adamsilver7268 For sure, in pg is the same about reserves, mostly people try to avoid them but it's not the right attitude. I for one have negleted mine sometimes for way too long so, we all need to do more and do better and awareness is the first step for sure. Feel free to shoot us a message anytime :)
What's the best way to contact you?
@@adamsilver7268 ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!!! Comment from Andre!
That's cool adam see you tomorrow 😀
Well done Adam, best repack vid out there...
Thanks John! I truly appreciate the kind words!
Very interesting! Thanks for posting :D
Thank you good stuff each pilot need to know to do. I need to learn. Fly baby fly
In Finland, we all (PPG/PG) pack our own reserves every 6 months. I don't think this is dangerous at all if you carefully follow the instructions from the manufacturer.
Nice, sweet repack video!
Thanks!
Every should know how to pack there on chute!!!!!
Thanks to your video, I realized that I have my reserve upside down, I missed the last Ozone recommended step to place the apex down.
I'm glad that my video was able to help you! Hopefully you have an easier time than I did getting the apex on the bottom!
Great video mate
Thanks so much for the kind words!
@@adamsilver7268 do you still have this reserve? I'm looking for a super low volume one for H&F
@@DansEscapades Yes I do. I can't attest to this being good for hike and fly as I don't have experience doing such activities.
Thanks for making this video. Quick question. Any idea what size rubber bands you used? I’m looking to repack mine and am trying to research the proper size to have on hand before digging into it.
I couldn't tell you. But, I acquired them from Super Fly.
Just now seeing this. Lol. Nice intro
😉
Great video. I would flip your reserve over, however, into the inner diaper. When you throw it it should unfold out as the diaper flys out. You have the openimg end of the chute in the bottom of the diaper. It will still open, but slowet. Dependimg on how lo you are a second or 1-2 can make a big difference in speed of landing.
I did flip the reserve to the proper orientation and it's very noticeable how much better it deploys from the diaper. As you said, properly orientated, the reserve unfolds it's way out of the diaper.
hey shipmate I was on Florida blue also... (I saw your comment in another video). From about October 1999 to 2002. I transferred to asheville SSN-758 in 2002. Asheville doesn't really count because she was in drydock the whole 9 months I was aboard! Sucks because the whole reason i went to a fast boat was to do more fast boat type stuff. Argh. Ironically, two weeks before I got out of the Navy, they started taking down the wood that was lining the passageways for the purpose of protecting the bulkheads from heavy equipment being moved around for upgrades/maintenance in drydock, so they were going to go underway soon. Regardless, four years was enough for me so I still got out lol. I did do four patrols on florida though.
I take it you were a nuke by your name 😉 I want to say florida was converted to a GN after you left, right? We did "fast boat" missions. It was a lot of fun to be honest. Oh how I miss Diego Garcia 😔
@@adamsilver7268 lol no I was a sonar tech :) but I was into physics before I joined the Navy and I've been using this username since like 1998 :) unfortunately yeah, the Florida was converted to SSGN after I left, I think like a month after I left she went to the east coast to be converted. :)
Do you think the angle v2 140 would fit into the same container? I just ordered a dudek low large and new side container now I'm looking at a v2 140
That's a great question. I have wondered this as well. I will say that I was not able to pack my 120 as tight as the factory did and it was tight getting it back in this time around. Give Aviator PPG a call and ask them. They sell the Angel sq. as well as the Dudek Harness. Someone there has to know.
Thank you
Adam great video. Can you post the dimensions of the your pegboard please?
Simon, I'll try and get some measurements for you. Just to note, I made this one specifically to pack the Ozone Angel Square. All I did was unpack my reserve, count the number of bundles (to determine how many pegs I needed) and spaced them apart slightly shorter than the width of the reserve container (so the line bundles fit neatly in the container). That being said, my peg board might not be ideal for your reserve if it's a different model.
at 12:16 - were you just removing the packing line?
Yes, I was taking the line out that you string through the loops at the top of the reserve. David, feel free to message me on Facebook if you have any questions. It's a pretty simple process but does require a little technique.
Chowder made a guest appearance.... also I cringed everytime you said successful deployment. Brings back too many all hands calls.
🤣🤣 the good ol days
The music is very irritating. Time for me to find another instructional video. See ya
K bye!
Hell yeah dude Ill send ya mine soon :)
If I can't do it, I know someone who does really good re packs and is really quick.
