Hi, what kind of doctor are you like? What did you specialize in?
Not family medicine
Hi Dr am studying Medical Lababoratory science to be a medical Scientist am in my second year. I would love to Study medicine, if i do medicine with this qualification would i be a pathologist?
Hi... so you would have to specialize for 4-5 years to become a pathologist. Your undergrad degree would only assist you in getting a registrar (specialization post) because you have an advantage over people with no experience in the field😉
Do the points expire or are they mine forever?
They are valid only for 2-3 years, thereafter they don't count you'll need to acquire more in order to keep up to date.
Very informative, thank you✨️
Hi doc..Eish we need to talk hey..I am interested in your current speciality..I am currently doing my 2nd year internship
When comserve posts come out you can start by applying... I'll make a video on the lab stuff and how to get in🫠
Hi. I'm new here. I must say you are very beautiful, naturally so❤
😊 Thank you🙏🏾
I was also with the nhls in Anatomical pathology I love it so much did my honours with DGM and went to CMJAH (loved the work loud too😂😂) for internship as a scientist I loved it so much but had to resign 3 months before internship completion for MBChB, my superviors (pathologist) from both institutions always tell me that I am going to come back as a reg, and I keep saying NO!!😂 because apparently I was doing well in it, I love the Lab dont get me wrong my time with anat path gave me some sense of purpose, but I believe I have served enough there.... the hospital visits I had during my rotations in different hospitals, theatres and departments haunted me, I remember how I used to tour these hospitals because they made me so happy but I always felt I belong on the other side of the table😊 Also Congratulation on your reg post, hope you enjoy every minute of it Doc❤❤❤❤
Congratulations on getting into medicine. The labs are a good place. The hospital setting can give you so much anxiety 😅🤣🤣🤞🏾🤞🏾. The nice thing about the path you took is that you have an advantage over alot of people when it comes to getting a reg post in the future because you have experience. I say go back when you're done, Anat path is in high demand🤞🏾.... all the best 🥳🤗
@@DrAnn_Healthhub Thanks Dr❤️❤️❤️
Hey Dr thanks for this video❤❤❤ How can one find it if the hospital they want has DQs and it location (inside/outside the hospital).... or those the system when chosing a hospital show?
When applying it just tells you whether accommodation is present or not. You can make calls to the respective hospitals to find out before submitting your choices.
Very informative. Thanks. Please do you have any contact of anyone migrating to Ireland as a doctor? You assistance is much appreciated. Thanks
I wore mine day 1 after a c section I’m 1 week pp, and everyone says it’s amazing how flat my stomach got in 1 week! I have lower stomach that’s still swollen but I have everything she lost in the video and it worked wonders

hey Dr do you have any information about working in Switzerland?
Hi doctor, when selecting an elective location, what is best for a student ?Academic hospitals, district hospitals or clinics. Also which departments are fundamental for a student to rotate in during an elective of 4 weeks?
I think it depends on your personal interests. You can use it as an opportunity to explore fields we're hardly exposed to like Labs, forensic, neurosurgery, plastics, nuclear medicine etc. You can also use it as an opportunity to get alot of practical experience e.g. clinics and district hospitals (pop insertion, drips, contraceptives device insertions and removals etc) you can cover a lot of basics with primary Healthcare knowledge like paeds (immunization, Road to health stuff, drugs), contraceptives (obs stuff, sti guidelines, prenatal care) or hiv (guidelines, drugs etc.). I found primary health care so valuable personally 🤗
@@DrAnn_Healthhub thank you very much❤
Not me seeing your channel and this video after going through an OSCE last week. I always go there with information but the nerves delete everything🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think practice talking it out at least 2x. It makes it better🤞🏾. Don't worry I'm sure you'll be fine
The issue with today's doctors is that, they are just doctors, they have no calling, and exhibit zero passion, some do medicine to prove a point of capability that's why we have slacking doctors today reducing chances of absorption into the health sector. I'm doing my final year in BHSc/Hons. In Clinical Technology, I've dying to be a physician since first year I feel if do the most if I can get a chance.
Hi Dr Ann I’m so grateful for your content 🌸 There’s such limited info out there esp regarding pathology 😢 May I please ask a few questions 😅 1. Are there MO posts to work in the labs? 2. What other short courses/ diplomas can I do to increase my chances for a pathology reg post? I realised I won’t meet the requirements for the HIV Diploma 😢 3. Do they ask pathology related questions in the interview? 4. What books/resources can I check out to give me an overview of what I can expect from pathology
Hi... 1. There aren't any MO posts only comserve posts. People who are likely to get these are non govt.bursary holders but you can try your luck. 2. Coming in from clinical an advantage is undergrad in science (e.g BSc people who ddnt get into medicine straight), HIV Dip, I also think DipEC and Dip Internal med or fam med should be an advantage. Research experience is Bonus or Research (See FPD)/ Statistics course. 3. I have experience with chemical pathology and Clinical pathology (not too sure about haem and micro or anat path pathology but ill try find out). So in their interviews they ask normal stuff like what's the NHLS, role etc - they also ask clinical cases like Approach to DKA/ Anemia mainly history, exam and investigations. Then they ask lab related questions that you'll only know if you've either been in a lab or spoken to someone who knows the lab. You have to go visit a lab preferably the center you want to get into so that they see your dedication even for 1 week before you get interviewed. This is not mandatory I didn't do it. I just spoke to Lab technologists in rural hospital lab and registrar's who got in. 5. No books really. Your undergrad notes/ UCT notes should be okay especially blocks taught by the respective pathology field you want like chem path or haem etc.
Coming from clinical, nothing can prepare you for the lab space it's so different. You are, however, able to see the impact and role you play in diagnostics. Over 70% or diagnoses are made from lab results, which just goes to show the impact the lab plays in not only management but also treatment and monitoring of patients. It's interesting. I love it. I didn't know I did until I tried it 🤗
@@DrAnn_Healthhub Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ you’re constantly teaching me so much and opening my mind to so many things i didn’t know/never thought of. 💐💐 Please keep on blessing us with your content 🥹
Is intern eligible for rural allowance?
Yes
Good day I have done total abdominal hesterectomy sapingo. In 2022. Now I have a 15cm cyst and the doctors says it's non cancerous they can't remove it. So I don't sleep at night it's moving around and painful. I want to use contraceptives to control hormones maybe it will blust. Pls advise I don't have money to buy supplements.
Please consult a gynecologist, and they will better advise. If they're not taking it out they'll probably monitor with regular scans and bloods. So sorry. Hope you get sorted.
Yooo Clinical pathology - Already those desciplines on their own are something else imagine all of them Anapath, Chempath, Micro 🥺🥺🥺 - im also considering Laboratory Medicine im tired of Clinical medicine - fed up… ur I hate those 4-6hrs wardround wen u ddnt even nap the whole night. what do u think of Radiology?
Luckily managed to change to my first choice chem path. I think the rotating is crazy but people manage with those clin path rotations (micro chem and haem)🤞🏾. Radiology is also a really good one. You must be good with anatomy, and they say there's a bit of physics in it also. I hated ward rounds too yhooo😅😅 the walking around and actually part taking in physical labour😪. I'd rather use my brain🤣🤣🤣

Can Dr’s open their own pharmacy ? And how if possible
Sort of.... so within their GP practices, if they have a dispensing license. Technically, not to sell to people (walking in from outside) but give meds to people who have consultated.
Hi Doc Can we book an appointment with you regarding this, if so how?
According to Hpcsa and DOL , You are not allowed to see more than 50 patients per day.... And see more than 50 pt can also invites troubles from medical aids. The other thing is being a GP is not good in our days as medical aid are harrassing us now and then, Like In my practice there are certain medical aid i don't accept due to harrassment. ...... Being a GP it's very difficult in these days. What i can advise a person who wants to be a GP is that he/she must not quit her/his job
Thanks for sharing and highlighting important facts 🙌🏾
Hi there is there a chance you would share your contact I would like to find out more about your experience in Gp practice

Hello Dr. Ann. You mentioned as a con of not being kept on your toes and not being up to date with things medicine. So I want to ask if you know whether or not there are like workshops or academic meetings that are there for GPs in order to help them in that regard?
They can read and listen to webinars. Courses depend on area of interest. In the public sector there's presentations of these latest journals and guidelines which makes it easier to keep updated.
@@DrAnn_Healthhub Okay. I see. Thank you❤️
i liked this,i had my eyes on internal medicine but i felt like you were speaking to me here today.definitely going for GP.

Sounds great and all until you hear stories of General Practitioners (GP) who do not pay their workers well or GP who fraud their members' (patients) medical aid funds. I know GPs who decided to close their practice and rather work for DoH. However, given the high unemployment rate, I would suggest anyone who is ethical to take this route, to create employment and pay their workers fairly or at least market-related salaries instead of exploiting workers. A graduate diploma in business administration is highly recommended unless you choose to focus on your core competencies and outsource any administrative duties.
With all the money they make I ddnt know they'd be so cruel. Thanks for highlighting that🤔🙏.
There's also a medical practice management course that can workout much cheaper and more specific than a general business management course
