I think the way they implimented the romance content was terrible. I also think it was a waste of time, money, and effort that could have been used making other parts of the game better.

A tip here: I found it easier to attack the guards and kill them all BEFORE I let Nere out. Once Nere is out, you can convince him that the guards had mutinied and killed each other, and with a good roll, he'll accept it. Being able to have this fight without Nere in it makes it a lot easier.

Killed Nere with Brithvar, got the head. Brithvar only says "Nere's head is stinking up the place". No dialogue about reward for helping him and no option to free the gnomes. The gnomes just talk as if they are still slaves and sit around. This game is so bugged >:(
