I did something similar in the goblin camp, inside where one of the leaders is trying Speak with Dead on the mind flayer. Got them to trust me, hid my party in the rafters, had Astarion drop so many smoke powder and wine barrels, putting them strategically under the braziers, next to the leader and the little groups. They seemed perfectly ok with me setting this enormous trap 😂. Then Astarion joined everyone in the rafters and then we let scorching ray do its thing. I targeted the braziers to add extra force damage. It was amazing. 💥🔥☠️
If you want an uncompromising d&d experience, go play tabletop. If you want a good game, let Larian do their thing. That means OP as fuck environmental interactions. They're good at this, trust me.
Larians obsession with environmental interaction and verticality makes their games worse! "Hurr we made shove a bonus action and the highest potential damage output option in the entire game. What's that? You don't like to use it, that's fine, allow our AI to abuse the fuck out of it though" I have 80 hours in EA BG3 and enemies targeting barrels one room over that cascade into the fight, hanging braziers and showing you into the underdark is the worst part of this game by far.
Even IF I managed to place all the barrels in the right position without triggering the cutscene, the moment I hit 1 of the gith or the dragon, or even come close to the area, it will switch to the dragon flying away cutscene & the explosion would not be seen; I tried... So currently NO. I will try in Patch 7 although I think it will be the same result.
i could be wrong but i believe explosions do fire damage naturally and the red dragon would be immune to this damage anyways so its probably for the best it flies off before you can try and explode it
I used this Mod www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/286 It has a couple of spells which allowed me to spawn the barrels and disable the Gith for a while
Consequently this is also what happens to your processor.
