Forage and Cook Chanterelles
Foraging yellow & cinnabar red chanterelles
Never munch on a hunch!
Chanterelles are some of the yummiest wild mushrooms you can get, a quick saute in butter with a dash of salt and pepper brings out their nutty flavor.
Chanterelles can be found growing in forests among leaf litter. They have false gills, ridges that run down under the cap to the stem. True gills are more fragile, please always do your own research before consuming any wild plant or fungi.

Fire Roasted Smoked Spicy Campfire Snack Mix
zhlédnutí 63Před 3 měsíci
You can use any ingredients you like! I make my smoky campfire snack mix with corn Chex, wheat Chex, and mini stick pretzels. 1 box each Chex, half a bag of pretzels. I pour about 3/4 cup of butter with some added honey over the snack mixture in three different pans. Toss everything really well and then coat with your favorite seasoning/rub. Toss it again. Throw on an open flame smoker around 2...

Make a Crawfish Trap from a Milk Jug - Mudbug Hotel
zhlédnutí 457Před 3 měsíci
You can make a simple crawfish trap with a milk jug. We used fishing line to tie it together, but zip ties make for a more reliable and even quicker build. We used cat food and some stale breads but meat scraps are the best bait if you have any on hand. Results will vary, but you can increase your odds by creating multiple traps and letting them sit overnight.
Dispatch & Skin - Copperhead and 5 ft Rat Snake just a few feet apart!
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 3 měsíci
I always carry this Ruger wrangler loaded with snake shot when I go back in these woods, and now you can see why it's a good idea. Both a 5 ft of rat snake and a baby copperhead were stumbled upon during our trek down to the water. After cautiously dispatching them, we skinned them and threw the skins in the freezer for tanning at a later date. oh, and the birds got a nice danger noodle salad.
Wood Fire Smoked Beef Jerky - Honey Pepper

I flash grill the meat before I dry it out slowly. I like to start cooking about 250 F, rotating and flipping the jerky. As soon as it has that "cooked" look to it, I drop the temp to about 150 F This process takes about 4-5 hours. I used salt, black pepper and honey for a quick marinade, for better results do it overnight. I also added a touch more honey when it was done and shook it in a bag....
Firing Clay to Ceramic with No Kiln - Primitive Pottery Part 3

Firing Clay into ceramic with no kiln. Dirt Rocket Stove - Quick and Easy with very little Wood
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 4 měsíci
An in ground rocket stove is more windproof, more stealthy, and takes very little fuel material to cook or boil water. The drawback of this style is the need to feed the fire pretty often to keep it going compared to a wooden one that will sustain itself for hours. A fire hole is easy to put out when you are done, just choke it and bury everything.
Offset Smokers : Fire Management is Everything

Stop adjusting those flaps! Let that fire breathe! If you learn your smoker, you can build a fire and control the temperature of your smoker with good fire maintenance alone. That's a great idea. I'm sorry to be pedantic but the 'drill' is called an auger drill bit. It refers to the twisty style of the cutting edge and the helix to remove the waste. In England it's known as a Scotch eyed auger. I hope that helps people who try to buy one. If you notice the loop you pass the branch through has a tapered end. That is so you can put the tapered end on a log end and smash it to make pegs when you're constructing stuff. The pegs should fit the hole the drill makes.
