Hi, welcome to my channel! Are you struggling to understand concepts in your linguistics classes? I can help! My videos address topics from phonetics and phonology to sociolinguistics and discourse analysis.
Language Endangerment
A overview of language endangerment, including brief discussions on the severity of the language endangerment crisis, causes of language endangerment, and why everyone should care about the increasing disappearance of languages.
ERROR: at around the 1:00 mark, I mistakenly said, "indigenous languages, like Quechua, are no longer being passed down to children as a first language", but I should have said, "indigenous languages, like Quechua, are increasingly no longer being passed down to children as a first language". To be clear, currently Quechuan languages are passed down to children as a first language (but this is happening with decreasing frequency).
