    I purchased an aero press a couple months before leaving it behind while I traveled for a few months. I had no idea you could brew it inverted. Nor did I know anything about the double filter and wetting the filters. Thank you so much for this information. Will be looking out for more.

    Thank you for this recipe! The simplicity and quickness is amazing. One thing I can add, following all the way through in the plunge left me with bitter coffee. Stopping the plunge once the air fizzles are heard, cured this problem. Cheers!

    Doesn't the dry filter get wet once the coffee starts to go through it? What's the logic of dry being bad?

      Usually the paper is acid bleached to get it to be white Pre wetting allegedly helps tame the acidity added by the paper I use a stainless steel filter so I don’t know anything about that

    The Aeropress can make nice concentrated coffee, but not real espresso. I can only generate a little over 1 bar of pressure with an Aeropress by pushing as hard as I can, and real espresso requires 9 bar or more.

    Not just pressure. Aeropress provides a paper filter, but French presses provide a mesh screen. Aeropress makes about 250 ml of coffee, but French presses can make much more coffee.

    I'm using this method, to an even more extreme end: 25g of fine-grind coffee + 60g of 60-70C water => 10s stir, 10s bloom, 20s slow stir, push => 30g of coffee nectar Yes, it's not technically espresso, but honest to God the result is so close, that some people won't even tell the difference. And it's much much much better than the bullshit 'espresso' that comes out of nowadays automated 15-20 bars machines. In my whole city, there is only one barista that can top this with her $3000 professional espresso machine. Otherwise, espresso is not for every newbie barista wannabe with an expressive machine, and takes practice and many tries to master.

      It's taken me almost 2 months to dial it in. I use it at work so no scale & no gooseneck. I use a teaspoon to reduce the flow by placing it at the spout. As you mentioned using to much water is the issue. Only thing I can suggest is to mark your cup and remove the v60 once at that level.

    The first espressos dont have any crema; thats the reason gaggia machines was a huge succes, the high pressures that makes crema and is now a standard for a "espresso drink" is not the original idea under what espresso means. As an original concept is a concentrated coffe drink that is make under pressure and quickly. This recipe gets that; pressure (as far an aerepress can make), a ratio of water/coffe for a concentrated cup and is fast. Maybe is not the ultimate espresso but is a good one is you dont have an espresso machine (at the office, camping, college, travel, etc)

    I wonder how making an americano by making this 'espresso' and then diluting it with water compares to just making it with more water to begin with. Maybe the first would be better for espresso-roasted coffee and the second better for filter roasts?

    • @djpiecia

    • @alinaqirizvi1441
      @alinaqirizvi1441 Před 6 měsíci

      tbh there's not really such a thing as 'espresso-roasted coffee' or 'filter-roasted coffee', it's just certain roast are easier to extract with certain brew methods. I'd say whichever's easier, if it's really light you'd probably need more water like a filter brew but you might be able to do it with this method
