    I am Maltese. Malta isn't what it used to be. Even our kids are leaving for a better life abroad. All you are saying is true. This happened since we became members of the EU and foreigners invaded us so much that we became over populated. Cost of living went up,pollution exploded, we are losing our countryside because more homes are being built. And other cultures brought them with them and it is not safe anymore and not a country where you can give your kids a good upbringing

    I totally identify with you. I went to France and everyone was speaking French. Then I went to Spain and everyone was speaking Spanish. What the heck. I'm going to Germany next week, and if anyone speaks German, I am going to flip. Sheesh. Maltese people need to stop speaking Maltese. It's just wrong. They should speak... Latvian. Yes Latvian. It's much more sensible.

    The weekly offers in supermarkets are the normal price. You can find goods at a similar price in smaller stores without discounts. It's a strange advertising model. They buy ad space with posters saying "meat for 4 euros per kilo" and the next week it will be some other perishable item that you're not supposed to buy a large quantity of. I think they look embarassing. The store must have a dedicated department who typesets all the newspapers. And then they do virtue signalling by how much they've reduced plastic and carbon consumption. They could rather reduce the prices by the amount that goes into advertising. Everyone already knows the stores and has formed an opinion. Only the richest people or those who don't pay attention would buy a Jacobs coffee for 13 when it will be 7 the next week. There are almost no discounts for expiration. I think a lot of food goes to waste in hidden dumpsters. I think the discounts have forced a disposable culture. People will buy those "couch and TVs" that will be thrown out a few years later because they aren't built to last. They guy has an accent, and was probably born in Latvia.

    • @WeAreHarvestingdreams
      @WeAreHarvestingdreams Před 28 dny

      Hi, I agree with your comment. If you buy almost the same products, you notice that the discount never changes, or the price is reduced minimally so next week after offer ends, they can quietly change the price to a little bit bigger. It's obvious that all chains have a large marketing team that pre plans the advertisements months ahead. The conglomerates are not interested in saving and solving food waste, as long as the profits are in and shareholders are happy. And yes we both are not only born on Latvia, but lived here most of our lives. :)

    The lady likes to lie in the sun and read! They expect not to earn their living but expect others to provide for them! You should tell me if in Latvia you don;t work and others pay your way through life! Tell me ANY place in Europe which is not expensive and taxes are MUCH higher than Malta! Tell me anywhere in Europe were energy bills are subsidies. Petrol price have not moved for the last 11 years! I don't think that you were an acquisition for these islands. Glad you went as otherwise you would have relied on the state to support your stay. Thanks but no thanks!

    I'm sorry about your negative experiences in Malta. I was born in the UK of Maltese parents with Italian roots. I'm in Malta now and have been for a year but I have no intention of staying for all the reasons you mentioned. I call it building site Malta, and I totally understand you. Of course there are good and bad everywhere, but there are issues that will take generations to resolve. I love the history of Malta and the archeological sites and of course water activities. My destination is a piece of land in Spain and peace and quite! I could talk a lot about the cost of living in the UK which is much higher than many mainland European countries and Malta. Anyway I wish you great luck in the future.😊

    If your roof contains ASBEST then be very careful (it is forbidden in EU since 2005). NEVER drill a hole in it or break or saw it. As long you dont touch it, it is OK. Best put plastic sheet beneth it or better professional isolation. If you break or drill in Asbest there will be microscopic filaments from which you can get cancer.

  • @alexwinter5874
    @alexwinter5874 Před 2 měsíci

    Very nice - but maybe a bit dangerous. Please check your roof if the Eternit contains Asbest. Asbest => cancer. As long you do not move the plates or they are not destroid, there is no problem. But better you replace the Eternit roof of your living house (very carefully).

Everything what you pay more then 1 EUR for the house is too much.

    The fact that Malta is expensive especially the rent you’re right. In Malta the best thing is to have your own home. You can’t have the cake and eat it . We work a lot because it is a must and in this way we can buy our own home. You get a full time job, you get a loan from the bank, you buy a property , rent it and pay the loan with the money you get from leasing the property snd eventually you may not have to work that much. But if you have to pay the rent(all alone because many foreigners share apartments to reduce the costs)you don’t have a full time job that pays decently, if you don’t do some sacrifices at first and not party all the time, it will be hard for you. No pain no gain.As for the language I’m sorry but we are Maltese and we speak Maltese which is our first language, if you live here you have to learn the language. We are already risking of losing our language because of all the foreigners living here who speak English only( and sometimes not even that). In many countries such as France, Italy, Germany you sre obliged to learn the language to live there. In Malta it is not like that, we do more than enough to please the foreigners. Even the monery earned from certain jobs is a shame, to accomadate certain foreigners. Maltese people are not finding jobs because of foreigners who are paid less and are preferred over the Maltese. You have to adapt to the country not the country adapts to you. There are foreigners who live a good life here but many of them have their own business or they earn good money from well paid jobs such as the gaming industry or propert agents. Winters here are a blessing, you don’t have to complain about that. Summers are terrible and unbearable for those who hate the heat and the sun like me. Good luck in finding a country that you fit in and live a happy life😊
