Glad to see you guys are doing well and enjoying your time in the country. You may want to check out other new country side residents like yourself about their Chicken coop designs and how they rotate them across different parts of the farm for fertilizer effect as well as giving the chicks the best diet... Country living is much harder than city living. In the country side you have to be creative, resilient....🎉

Hey dude 😎 thanks for watching and your insights! You are right, there is so much to learn from others who are doing the same thing. Probably this year we will not get to farming chickens, but who knows maybe ext year 😊

Guys, as someone who lives on a remote island off the U.S. coast (PS, I am moving to Daugavpils this coming August to teach English at the university there), I have a recommendation for you that I believe will reduce your stress. While you don't have any emergencies, do some research and find the nearest electrician, car mechanic, plumber and doctor. Introduce yourselves and tell them a little about yourselves, just enough to build rapport. Keep their phone #'s and contact information handy. That way, if you do have an emergency, they will know you and be responsive when you need their help.

Hi Stephen, hope your research about Latvia is going well and you are ready to come over soon ! That is a great idea. For someone like us who are rather antisocial, these thing take time and is not an easy task, but having a helpful hand at times is very useful 😊

We also had this double live, and still a bit (but then between two countries, Netherlands and Latvia) but now we live permanently in Latvian countryside and work as translator and programmer a couple of days a week. I agree with you that it's not the easiest live but sooo rewarding and such a good feeling to have a place where you can go too and feel free. Now when I'm in the city in the Netherlands I feel kind of bored, I miss my garden and woodstove 😂

Hi and thank you very much for sharing your story! I guess we can't complain that our distance between our double life's Isn't as big ar for you! 😅 It is very inspiring to hear that our dream is possible and already being lived by someone else. For us too, we miss the country side. When we are not there, but we have to first find a way to be able to live and make money from there to make it more viable option 😊

Its also a problem when the snow comes and you have to keep your entrance road cleaned everyday. I was going to buy in the countryside but instead bought in the town and then a summerhouse a bit outside of the town . Im not so young and have back problems so living remotely is not good for me ...when you're older its good to live near local shops even if your car is broken .Greetings from Balvi🤗 ...Harry

Hey dude 😎 and thank you for the honest comment! It is true that some things seem more fun and exciting the first years in the country side especially when you are still young, but we are also learning to think for the long-term and how our life would look when we get older. Where we are right now it would be almost impossible to walk to the nearest shop in the winter time if our car brakes down and that something to think about ! Cheers and good luck with your journey too! 😊
