Now I know why my father enjoyed the first two seasons of Gilmore Girls. He enjoyed the conflict between Emily and Lorelai because it mirrored his feelings towards me. Then once Emily started showing heart he lost interest. Saddening.

Shit would have gone down hard after one or the another tossed down that proverbial gauntlet. I can even envision Rich Gilmore showing up at said duel at the dawn of the 1700s while wearing one of those aristocratic wigs, taking a very keen interest. Would have made this hilarious dream sequence!

I was reading an article on the top 10 Gilmore Girls characters and Kirk wasn’t even on the list. Guess that person never watched the show because he obviously is the number 1 character.

2:39 I can't stop replaying this scene it really shows the subtle difference of what Rory is like and what Lorelei want her to be. Rory liked those things that her grandma could afford to buy for her this scene subtly shows how she had to downplay her actual wants to satisfy her mother's want of a simple lifestyle.

They all were to blame Lorelai, Emily and Richard. They never communicated with each other, just argued. All three were guilty of not keeping lines of communication open. Lorelai didn't go back after she left home. Emily and Richard went to the Inn a few times and didn't go back. So what there daughter got pregnant, should have got over the inital shock , then supported their daughter , not money, but morally supported her. Instead she heard them saying how disappointing she was . She left , got a job didn't go back til she needed money. Her parents were to prideful and ashame if her, that they didn't reach out. They could have had a good relationship.

Lorelai is harsh with her mother, her mother loves her, even if she is wrong sometimes, but she is way too rebellious to everything to understand that.
