"I dread to think of the Ballardian dystopia in which we'll find ourselves." 😅 Good one. The frequent refrain from A.I. enthusiasts is always "A.I. is here and it's not going anywhere." (See, it's right there in the description on this post!) But just look at the history of consumer technology. It comes and goes pretty quickly, and popular technologies that once seemed ubiquitous disappear all the time. When you add on top of that the extreme financial and environmental costs of the computing that runs A.I. under the hood but is invisibilized to the consumer -- plus, the fact that all these A.I. consumer-facing platforms and apps are going to have to start making serious bucks real soon or go under (Microsoft invested over $13 billion in OpenAI) in an extraordinarily competitive field within the already ruthlessly capitalist tech world -- well, all this makes for a highly volatile environment that doesn't make its ultimate disappearance too difficult to imagine at all.

Was a good watch! Always good to see some behind the scenes discussion as to how games are made and the decisions that go into making them.

This game could have had a cruel emphasis on corruption and consequence and bumped up to an 18+ rating. I’m happy it didn’t go any further than a concept for the full game. It’s a game that opens my eyes to the world and there’ve been some mad human-caused fires in my region in the past year (up in Canada). I like how the musical ties to the fox cubs (and badger) was mentioned. That’s something I like to tell new players. Wow! I get to see some dev footage that dates even before that 2020 steam demo! 🤯
