ENDLING - EXTINCTION IS FOREVER: Making a Game with a Message | FMX 2023

In this session from FMX 2023, the award-winning game Endling - Extinction is Forever succeeds in bringing awareness to social and ecological issues caused by humanity’s impact on the environment.
The player experiences these issues from the eyes of the last mother fox on Earth, who needs to find food and a safe place for her little cubs. Producer Philipp Nägelsbach will talk about the game’s approach to treat real world issues in an effective and emotional way.

This game could have had a cruel emphasis on corruption and consequence and bumped up to an 18+ rating. I’m happy it didn’t go any further than a concept for the full game. It’s a game that opens my eyes to the world and there’ve been some mad human-caused fires in my region in the past year (up in Canada).
I like how the musical ties to the fox cubs (and badger) was mentioned. That’s something I like to tell new players.
