Its so mind boggling to me that companies can still pay people over seas a fair wage and because of conversion prices They'd still be making a profit

I've just been looking out for nicer fast fashion second hand and taking really good care of it. People used to have a handful of outfits and be content with that. The standard now is too excessive imo. I don't need 80 outfits. When you look at it that way it's less overwhelming.

It's really nice to see just an honest, down to earth video based on reality to see how creators can get started. One thing I wanted to say is that I also thought that we were working for free until we get monetized but I realized that a lot of the videos we make before monetization can make us money after monetization, so it isn't completely without reward.

I love the point about changing our buying habits and taking care of our clothes. I don’t agree with the idea that it doesn’t matter who you buy from because no solution is perfect. There is unashamedly greenwashing everywhere and there are tons of brands making efforts at sustainable changes without being fully informed and there are brands that are innovating and trail blazing and they need to be supported. I also don’t believe significant change will happen without laws and regulations so another thing we can all do is make sure we pay attention to that and vote. I also love the point that many of the thrift stores can’t sell your used clothes. I think tons of people still believe they are doing good in the world when they dump their off season dirty logo t-shirt with rips and stains in it at their favorite charity shop. No one wants that stuff. Better to compost what we can or find other uses like rag rugs, furniture stuffing and cleaning supplies.

Just the fact that you had no clue about how harmful shopping at target/forever21 etc. was, and now you do, is a huge change. So many people just have no idea and never even think about where their clothing comes from. That's a huge change right there! Talking about it honestly has more impact imo than one person not shopping fast fashion. Keep it up!!! <3

Channel growth really does depend on a number of factors like you said. I picked a very saturated niche, but I do love the topic - self improvement. I have been at it for 1.5 years and I have reached over 400 subs. But I wont give up, it's fun making these videos and really helps me push forward in my own life as well. Great video by the way! ☺

Lol, I have the same style as your daughter. I love graphic tee and gym tights. I dont do jeans due to emdometios as i find it too painful. I do wear the occasional dress for after 5 in the summer. As im Australia, it's hot here 8 months of the year.

You now have a 76 year old subscriber who has been through all this soul searching and waste for 56 years. I grew up in Dallas in a wealthy family and had many fun outings with aunts shopping at Neiman Marcus and the lovely stores. But my adult life as a housewife has been very different....and I live on $1300 a month Social Security. No more Fair Trade or organic or "sustainable"...though I have a treasured collection of USA made towels, sheets, and memento clothes. Practical sewing is expensive and the seamstresses online YT are mostly nostalgia....a very expensive indulgence. I also love striped tee shirts....this is fun, YOU are sweet and fun. I hope your channel grows and brings inspiration for the hard times around the corner for many Americans.

Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your journey. I’ve been through a similar journey (without the children) and I think like you I’m casual at heart. I work from home but wear a company shirt and sometimes need to do Manila labor so they need to be rugged, but my Pinterest board is covered in blazers, resort wear, and fantasy self clothes. I’m trying to embrace my casual style and just make an effort to put together better fitting clothes with more intention.

Hey Val! I know what you mean about something feeling “too dressy.” I really struggle with this, and I end up “saving” certain pieces because they feel dressy due to their lighter colour, their care requirements, or their price. I don’t like to hand wash clothes hardly ever and I now never go to the dry cleaner because it’s too inconvenient my work schedule . So when pieces are cream coloured, white, or need special washing, I mentally think of them as being “dressy” and I don’t wear them on a regular basis. It doesn’t matter if the style of the piece is casual, it’s more about the upkeep of it. I decided I need to buy things that I don’t consider “too precious”, otherwise I just won’t wear it. I’m still learning this lesson because my fantasy self loves dressy dry clean only tailored pieces, so it’s a battle of what I like vs what I actually wear. I totally can empathise and relate. ❤
