I always enjoy your musings as they allow me to tag along but also think about my own closet. Your goal of only 100% items is a great reminder for me!! My struggle is I’ve spent my entire life buying clothes that fit me or suit me “good enough” instead of taking my time and only buying when it’s 100% what I love and what actually fits great. ‘Give yourself some grace’ - I love that phrase. Such a good reminder. Also, I Love the idea of you wearing high top converse (black and white.) I see that for your style! But, I understand the part re: getting into and out of them, tho! I also don’t think I’ll create clothing from scratch, but I did do a little alterations last year. It was empowering! So, if you do sewing videos, I’d ask that you include any tips that might work for alterations also. Thanks for another great video Val.

Yeah I agree, sewing is so empowering somehow! Just realizing that you can alter or sew your own clothes, makes me feel unstoppable somehow 😅

I’m drinking water. Yes you should do a sewing video!🪡 And definitely get the black converse! When I was pregnant I traded out the laces for ELASTIC laces and they became slip ons!! And not pregnant anymore, bud definitely keeping the elastic shoe laces on because I found that I wear them a lot more now!

One tip is to set aside clothes the night before for chores or running out next day and you won't want to wear comfy sweater in the morning.

Re: Converse. I love the look of them, too, but they just don't have that much support if you're going to be doing much walking. I've had very good luck with Sorel sneakers. Loads of springy, bouncy support, and the fit has been excellent for me.

One thing I’ve been doing is slowly adding nice athletic clothing to my wardrobe for my workouts and walks! The majority of my workout clothes used to be “regular/basic” clothing items that I’d downgrade to workout wear when they would get a stain, rip, or just look really worn-out. But now that I’ve really started taking my fitness seriously and being really consistent with it (and enjoying it!), the worn-out clothes have started to feel like a huge downer! So I decided I deserve nice workout clothes that are comfortable and exciting for me to wear, and it doesn’t matter if I’m “just going to sweat through them” or “only be wearing them for an hour”- it’s worth it because getting to put on activewear that I enjoy adds to my enjoyment and motivation for keeping active! 😊
P.S.- I think it was in your last video that you mentioned how you were making the decision to be more active as well, which honestly really encouraged me to keep going and indentify + eliminate any points of friction that might lessen my motivation for being active (such as purchasing athletic wear that is comfy and exciting!)! So thank you for that!! 🤗❤
You know, I've been thinking to upgrade my workout clothes as well.. I usually just wear a t-shirt and leggings, but yeah I think having cute workout clothes would help me enjoy exercising even more! 🥰

Don´t worry with the Converse, you don´t have to tie and open the laces everytime you use them. You can get them on even already tied. Unless you want them to be really tightly on :)

I’m in need of another sweatshirt and sneakers as well! I struggle with sweatshirts because I’ll buy a nicer one and then end up wearing it around the house and it becomes not as nice to wear out anymore 🤪

I am having similar realizations about my wardrobe and "silhouette." Just because I still have a tiny bit of a waist post having my son doesn't mean I need to accentuate it all the dang time! 😂 I have been slowly collecting shirts/long sleeve t shirts/ sweatshirts from local businesses in Austin where I live and am from because it's been changing so much and a lot of the places I grew up with are unfortunately disappearing. Anywhooooo. Loved this one! I've found that new balances are the most comfy "fun, athletic" shoes and am now pretty much loyal to them haha. I do also like Asics, but haven't gotten a pair of those in a good while. Agree with you on the converse. Also, even though I like the look of high tops I think because of my legs or ankles or something they don't usually work out and I would have been better off with the low tops. 🤷♀️
I tried on a couple of new balance sneakers last week, and I really liked them! I am debating between them and some nikes.. 🥰

🍵 I just so love and enjoy your videos Val! And I would really love to see some sewing🧵projects! I also have a goal this year of tailoring a few of my pieces! I don’t think I am desiring to make my own clothing/outfit from scratch, but I would really love to tailor a few pairs of pants and other items. I am also looking to put a little more edge to my style as well this year! My confidence has improved quite a bit and wearing my own personal style as opposed to what is my local cultural norm. I’m super excited for the warmer weather because I found some pretty amazing pieces at the thrift over the winter time!

✂️ I’m really short and am sick to death of not being able to wear new clothes because I need to take them to get shortened, it’s so inconvenient, ridiculously expensive and takes weeks to get back. I don’t know how to sew so I use hemming tape sometimes but I am considering buying a sewing machine!
A sewing machine really is a great investment! Even though I don't use mine a lot, I'm so glad that I have it! 🥰
