- Today I'm sharing 5 Style/Wardrobe mistakes that I made this year that I regret. At the end of each year I like to look back and reflect on my style choices and wardrobe purchases to see if there's anything that I can learn from. Hopefully you guys will find this helpful and it will inspire you to reflect on your year as well!

I’m a lot older than you are, but you actually inspired me to stop dressing as if I’m still hiding from Covid. I am able to spend more on clothes, but I have mostly shopped my closet and now I’m wearing nicer clothes, even to the store, than I did-because I own some cute clothes!! Today, to visit my son and then visit a coin laundry to wash a big mattress topper, I wore cords, a blue crew neck cashmere sweater (from TJMaxx) and cowboy boots I’ve owned for years and not worn. I felt like a million $$.
I spent 50 years buying jeans that I never wore, because they’re so incredibly uncomfortable. I finally stopped waisting all that time and money. I have only one, reasonably comfortable, pair now, from the men’s department (the first pair that ever fit me), in case nothing else will do for outdoor things where my silk trousers, etc., won’t work. You might try simple knit dresses for a change, Val, that’s what I often wear at home. They are super-comfy, no waistband, no riding up, no stiffness and easy care. I wear mine with matching-color knee-high socks and my house clogs, then just change to knee-high boots to go out. I wear my best items at home because they’re in the fabrics I love, silk, cotton, cashmere, etc., but I don’t have kids, pets or messy work to do, like you do.
You can find some jeans that are super comfy... I have some of the stiff rigid ones but also some that have so much stretch that they feel like sweats! And with oversize jeans being on trend, those can be really comfy too!!
All of your mistakes resonated with me, but the biggest one is saving my favorite good stuff for special times with others around to admire my beautiful top. :D The problem is, we are well into retirement and our social circle has shrunk to miniscule. Our big outing for each week is doing a group of errands, then having lunch at a chain restaurant. Just the two of us. So now I dress up for that. I have to or all my beautiful tops will mold in the closet. : ) I still have enough new tops to be the best dressed woman at Applebee's for the whole of 2023. Hmm. I had better work on that.
I also love how you are creating a wishlist of items that you plan to purchase over the next 5-10 years! How exciting! My wishlist is composed of items that i can wear in my current lifestyle. Now I'm excited to build a wishlist for my future lifestyle without getting trapped in the "fantasy shoppiing"

I'm right there with you when it comes to loungewear and pjs. The ease, the comfort, it's just so darn inconvenient to change. It's something I'd like to work on in the coming year, so I feel less like a slug.
yeah I don't mind wearing comfy clothes a couple days in a row, but when it starts to become a daily habit... that's when I know its time to stop 😅

Love how you created another uniform! Wearing a sweatshirt styled with jeans gives you a more edgy look! Also love how you are being intentional about wearing "nicer clothes" for yourself! This is also an intention for me for 2023!

I wore loungewear everyday for two months at the beginning of lockdown and hated it, so I went back to regular clothes. My everyday clothes are equally comfortable, but nicer.
yes, I really need to balance wearing my loungewear and regular clothes from now on 😅

I would be curious to see one on packing (always stressful) and how you take care of your clothes to keep them looking nice, especially when you have a smaller wardrobe so things get worn more often or we decided to buy a higher quality, more expensive piece that we want to last.
