Those guitar chords at about 0.07 remind me of the end of 'Brighton Rock' by Queen.
This must be before the implementation of the 1972 Local Government Act, as Clay Cross ceased to be a district when that was implemented.
I can't be sure if the BBC did two versions of this competition. But I have seen a clip where they showed three entries that won and were made in to actual costumes/props by the BBC. Can't seem to find that clip on CZcams. 1) Steel Octopus - An actual prop that skidded across the floor, but had no other articulation. 2) Hypnotron - Vasically, a Skull Crawler from the Monsterverse. But with a large eye, instead of a reptile head. 3) Aquaman/ Aquatron (cant really remember the name - A kind of frogman. But it looked more like a brand mascot costume. So not the best of the three.
I’m not sure if this is actually from October because of 0:53
Donny Macleod! Marvellous to see him again!

Okay, but this was recorded on 1982. The last time ATV is on air, but; Nice Anthem!! But ATV is gone when it dissappears.😏
If he were still around I bet he would have some good Viagra gags for Everard.....I remember when Viagra arrived on the scene, quite a big pill originally, I took one without water, it got stuck in my throat, I had a stiff neck for days, awful thing....down by the Liverpool docks an entire container load of Viagra was stolen, police put out a message via the media for everyone to be on the lookout in Liverpool for a gang of hardened criminal, true story.
The batwings and the harp music used to scare the living daylights out of me. Don't know why, but it did. Great to see it again though all these years later.
1982 Central Moon Flash The Scary Logo Alliance
Saw this on Australian TV in the 70s - the image of throwing the burning rag up to ignite the gas pipes always stuck in my mind.
Mine too! The fireball going up was awesome, and a bit scary for a kid in England in the 1960s.
@@carolebarker2195 Vague memory - about 1970 (I would have been 8) I thought I saw what looked like a Mogul Oil sign on a building in North Sydney! Many years later it occurred to me it would have been in the right spot for an 'establishing shot' showing that it was in Sydney, with a view across to the Harbour Bridge and (under construction) Opera House. Is my memory playing tricks or was there an episode set in Australia?
@@Elitist20 I don't know, and there's not much footage left of the series from what I can gather. But Ray Barrett, an Australian actor, was in it, and the series seemed to have quite a large budget for the time. So it's possible there was an Australian episode. I remember my mum and her friends talking about "Mogul" and how they enjoyed watching it. I think it was a real phenom of its time !! Futuristic almost.
Awfully posh back then . What what
0:00 - I don't think I've seen that BBC Two logo before.
That 6 O'Clock News intro featured was AMAZING back in the day. I was in awe of it as a kid.
I don't remember this title sequence.
Mike In Space As The 1982 Central Moon

You can still listen to judy on boom radio

The off-screen characters (that you never actually see) are brilliantly described by Larry, eg Slack Alice, Everard, pop-it-in Pete etc. Great entertainment and very funny.
Brilliant entertainment. If it was possible ,he was better at The Generation Game than Brucie. No higher praise!
I like how around 0:45 the next few idents sound similar to the final one
''We would like to say that in our opinion, This is not suitable for children or some of you may have a nervous disposition.''

And today we have the dreariest local news programme Central News with the dullest presenters on television
The set looks like it’s where the PM would address the nation from in a nuclear bunker 😂
