A Bach solo cello piece to end the evening? BBC2 was a very different, and more civilised, animal, then. Note the extra flexibility in the schedule from allowing Newsnight to 'float' - although 11.05 is the latest placing I've ever seen for it. The lack of lifestyle rubbish in peak time is also very welcome.
I vaguely remember that having some music to end BBC2's night this way was only shown in Autumn 1985, although I am not too sure on that one though. Thank you!!
I used to watch Tele-journal after Newsnight, doing A-level French at the time. I'm glad the BBC has seen sense and shows nothing French any more. (double bluff irony there btw, I hate the French) I remember Newsnight never being on at the same time and thus always missing it.
