    I know there has been some conversation about FSU and Clemson coming to the Big 12, which is obviously fine by me, because it bolsters UCF in the Big 12. But as a Cincinnati fan, I would really like to see Pitt and Louisville in the conference as well, to get some old rivalries back alongside our budding rivalries with Houston and UCF.

    First of all you might want to get a grip. We're called the pac-12. That's the brand, that what we'll always be, the brand. We know how many teams are in the pac-12 conference right now. Do you know how many teams are in the Big 12 conference? Yeah I figured you had to Google that. Frankly I think you're an idiot gamer.

    I think there is 3 charaters in this story and 1 side character. The PAC2, MWC, AND the ACC with the American in the sidelines. So we know the ACC situation is choppy. Clemson and FSU want out to the SEC. Are Wazzu and OR St waiting for the ACC to implode and then Cal and Stanford come back calling. Then those 4 rebuild the PAC with top MWC teams?

    I think the PAC2 should collect their paychecks, then after everything is paid and settled, and they have their money to themselves, they should merge with the MWC. The MWC could benefit from the PAC-12 (14) branding, and OSU & WSU would have their money.

    You're not gonna build this conference back up to P5 status.. With what schools?? Their goal basically has to be establishing THE undisputed top G5 conference. Whichever way they get there...

  • @YaowBucketHEAD
    @YaowBucketHEAD PĹ™ed 9 dny

    I think with the dust settling on realignment (which I could be very wrong and more schools bolt for a more "lucrative" conference) you have four schools "left behind" in a sense. Notre Dame (they will be fine) UConn Washington State Oregon State I'm not a college football expert by any means, but it seems being part of a conference provides stability and financial security. UConn football has not been the strongest for a while now. Maybe joining the MAC for a while while rebuilding and seeing what the future holds might be the smart move. As far as the "PAC 2" goes, unless Oregon State and Washington State somehow convince the Mountain West/top MW schools to join the PAC brand (which is essentially dead), I just don't see how this will end well for those two athletic programs. Unless you're Notre Dame with it's financial might and connections, things are only going to get tougher. Look at the desperate (at least in my opinion) scramble that Cal, Stanford, and SMU made to get into the ACC. Nobody wants to be left behind. If the P5 conferences have not invited (and there's a reason why they did not invite them) UConn, Oregon State, and Washington State, it might be time to latch onto a G5 conference, compete, perform, rebuild and retool and see what the future holds. All three of these schools are not exactly in a position of power negotiations wise. Go for the stability.

    Colorado state, San Diego State, Boise, and Air Force along with the Pac 2 would be amazing additions to the AAC. Having a west wing would definitely be a true American conference. However, I would even go a step further. At this point why not make a deal to absorb all of the teams from the Mountain West conference. Having a big conference is a plus for future TV deals. Having more basketball teams in the NCAA tournament is great for revenue. Being a small conference is not beneficial for the future.

    You don’t need UNLV. Put in Tulsa with SDStU, CStU, AF. The only schools from current AAC to be left out would be UNCC and Wichita State. You make all three service schools full members and could keep Wichita State and add a few other schools from WCC and Summit and Horizon non football leagues to have 24 Olympic sports schools and 20 football schools. So it would be as follows from the football side of things: OzzU, WazzU, Fresno, Boise SDStU, AF, CStU, Tulsa UNT, UTSA, Rice, Tulane Memphis, UAB, USF, FAU Army, Temple, Navy, ECU The Olympic Sports conference configuration would be the same plus the following division or pod of non football schools joined together: Wichita State, Oral Roberts, Gonzaga, St. Mary’s as non football but all Olympic sports pod/division OzzU, WazzU, Fresno, Boise SDStU, AFA, CStU, Tulsa UNT, UTSA, Rice, Tulane Memphis, USB, USF, FAU Army, Temple, Navy, ECU I do believe what I just created works well and contribute to the conference getting way more money than now at around 15-18 million dollars per year per school and maybe flirt with the 20 million dollars range.

    Let's stop pretending that Oregon State or Washington State have ever been relevant in college football or basketball. When the Big East crumbled and Cincy , UCF, USF, and Connecticut got relegated to G5 status. There wasn't any outrage. Cincy and Connecticut have far richer basketball histories than the Beavers or Cougars. They actually both appeared and won some BCS Bowls as well. What did those programs do though? UCONN basically shelved their football squad, moved to the Big East basketball league and dominated. USF went into an all in academic building mode and recently got AAU status. Now they are building a new football stadium. UCF and Cincy invested heavily into their football programs without any payout like Orrgon State and Washington State got. So what can the Beavers and Cougars do? How about trying to be relevant and invest into your program with your own dime. You've been PAC members for a hundred years and you've done nothing in that time. Oregon and Washington actually made themselves attractive. They just couldn't get their frumpy little sisters into the ball.

      If you go to 20 in football, you could just play your division (9 games) plus 3 non conference. Then the AAC champ would almost be guaranteed the CFP G5 spot. It would nearly cut about 40 some G5 teams out of the conversation, so in that sense it'd be a very alpha move.

      This is exactly the configuration I was thinking about too. It'd be so far above the other G5 leagues it'd be silly. Even if the AAC later lost a few members to the ACC, it'd be better positioned to remain the top G5 league by already having grown to 20 with two distinct divisions in the East and West.
