Do you know we're to Find he's other patch, the ones not for 4CM ?? I know he makes amazing patch on the boss gt 1000, but can't find them
I’m lured in by the maple necks .
This is by far the greatest instructional GT 1000 video, thank you, I really appreciate this!
Wow, thank you!
@@rnodern I'm hoping if I can ask you a question, after a patch is saved is it in the USER area or will it also be in PRESET area?
@@clifforddang5947hey mate, no it isn’t available in both areas. I tend to always save my patches in the user banks, that way I don’t have to cycle through to the preset banks to land on the patch I’m looking for.
@@rnodern Thank you so much!
Saved, appreciate it, thanks
so good
When the fuck is this album coming out?!
Thank you for the explanations! I've got a question: what if my amp has got only 2 channels? what kind of cable should I use?
That will depend on what your footswitch cable looks like for your amp. Is it a TRS cable or a Mono cable? Keep in mind that some amps need to be controlled by MIDI
@@rnodern It’s a mono cable (Orange TH30) I tried with it but it doesn’t seem to work so I’ll try with a trs cable ..
Eh buddy I’m using this method I’m using the gt to switch the 3 channels in my boogie I want to insert an external distortion pedal for my rythem and lead channels where would I put this pedal so it automatically turns on and off when I switch channels
Hey mate, I do this too. Take a look at my pedalboard now: i.imgur.com/TXMEo6i.jpg Okay, so I am assuming you’re using 4CM as described in this video. In the second send/return on the GT1000, run a cable from the send to the in on your pedal, and run a cable from the out of your pedal back into the return of the gt1000. Send/return Loop one is used for the 4CM, and the second send/return loop can be used for additional analog pedals. When you are designing your patch, start with selecting which amp channel you want to use. Engage send and return 1 and 2 (1 is required unless you don’t want to use the amplifier preamp) then place send/return block 2 wherever you want it in your signal chain. If it’s distortion, place it just before send return block 1. Save the patch and it will change channels and engage your analog pedal when you switch to that patch. Note: the pedal has to always be on and engaged, you’re just inserting and removing it from the signal chain in your patch design. You may notice I have many pedals. I’m using a Voodoo hex midi switcher. So, the send/return block loop is sent to/from the voodoo hex. All my analog pedals are plugged into the hex. Then, I send a midi signal to the hex to activate certain pedals in my patch design. It’s super cool if you want to combine the GT1000 with multiple analog pedals.
@@rnodern thanx bro
Eh buddy one more question lol I made a patch I can’t figure out how to assign it to bank 1? Or any of the banks lol when I go to the control function menu and click on any of the banks it doesn’t give me the option to download my patch I made
@@billhinsperger8120hey mate, you select which patch (bank) when you save or write the patch. Something like U1-1 will be patch one bank one
@@rnodern ya I followed your method it’s Awsome but once I complete my patch I go to write and it saves but does not give me an option to assign it to a bank? And when I go to the assign menu it shows all the banks but when I click on any of them it just brings up effects not patch options, are u saying once I write it atomically goes to bank 1?
Wow! Learned a lot.

is there a way to record 4cm in a daw without using a mic?
Take a look at a “Universal Audio OX Amp Top Box”. Sits between the amplifier 4,8,16 ohm out and the speaker. Basically it is a reactive load box, but capable of emulation and has xlr/usb connectivity

The thing is, can I connect it to iPad
Yep, the Boss GT1000 app is available on iOS devices. It connects to the GT1000 via Bluetooth.
Just back because I can’t wait for this album to come out 😢
Best comparison video I've seen on these 2. I just bought the SE, so it's good to know.
It may have been interesting to note that the neck profiles have changed over the years as well. From what I understand it is now closer to an SE standard/custom neck, wide thin. I remember playing one of these guitars at Sam Ash around 04, and the neck was way fatter than my Les Paul. So much so I wasn't interested. I have an SE standard that I love and I'm hoping the new Tremonti has the same neck like it says.
hi AJ, the 2nd patch you made, is that for lead / solo? I 'd like to get tone of Kirk Hammet which is also a lot of tapping on his solo.
Hey mate, it wasn’t - I just made it for demonstration :) For a Kirk lead tone start with the amplifier. Go for the modern voicing on your rectifier, channel 2, or if you have a 3 channel recto, then channel 3. Bass just above half way, mids below half maybe 9:30, 10 o’clock..and treble above half. Presence can add fizz so use sparingly. Then on the GT1000 throw a crybaby wah up the very front, followed by a tube screamer. Chug away and keep increasing the gain on the tube screamer until you’re happy with it. Won’t really need much to push the preamp on the recto and result in a nice tight gain sound. A compressor helps if you’re tapping to keep your notes more consistent. He’d also probably be using reverb in the fx loop. This isn’t a recipe, just how I’d approach getting close to his sound
@rnodern will try that mate. How about the drive knob? Should it be after 12:00 or before? I heard this amp can be hard to get a lead tone. We'll see. THANKS much bro!
hi AJ, I tried 4cm on my Dual Recto with gt 1000 but the problem is when I put the effects (delay) after the send/return1 I can't hear the delay. However if I put it before the send/return it works. I can't figure out the problem. Any thoughts? thanks
Thanks for the question. Hmmm that’s really interesting. First thing I’d check is the 4CM cabling, making sure it’s actually going through your effects loop. Next I’d check the back of the amp to make sure the fx loop is on (not bypassed) and volume is turned up. My dual recto has a fx loop volume on the back. Next check the two master volume knobs over on the left side near the power switch (not the master volumes on each respective channel). Perhaps the delay is sitting in one of those switching loops that isn’t engaged? - in tone studio the part of the signal chain that splits off into two separate paths. Lastly maybe a wet/dry setting on the delay but I’d expect that would also be apparent either side of the send return block. Good luck man! Let me know how you go
@@rnodern thanks bro, it's working now after I switch the fx loop to on.
Do you also have some video explaining connection the GT-1000 in front of the valve amp ?
Do you share those patches?
Best 4 CM explanation I ever seen, thanks for all that !!
this 1000%!!!!
Man, you should work in some Radio Station !!!
Wat output setting on the gt should I be on with this setup?
Thanks for the question. It depends on your amp. Take a look at page 39 here static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/GT-1000_parameter_eng08_W.pdf - Find the closest to your amp and select the one ending in RETURN if you are using 4CM.
For example. With the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier I am using (with either a 412 or 212 cabinet), I set the Output Select setting to "Rectifier 412 RETURN"
@@rnodern thanx dude. One more thing can I use the gt in front of the amp like a pedal board only and still use channel switching on my messa?
@@billhinsperger8120 sure can. Just connect the main out of the gt to the main in on your amp. (Change output settings) to whatever suits the amp/situation. Design your patches without engaging any send and return blocks (green box when engaged with up and down arrow). Roll all the way to the right to the last block and inside there is the amp channel selection. Connect the foot switch jack on your amp to the foot switch out on the GT and you’re good to go.
From memory, on the GT it’s called Amp CTL or something
This is awesome! Thank you!
Thanks mate!
USB connection to computer creates a ground loop that i cannot break with the GTs onboard settings. No screen editor for me i guess :/

thanks for putting this up! this will qualm the vool thirst for a while...
I picked up a used 2019 MIK SE. They call it charcoal burst, but it's more like deep emerald green with 10-top appearance on the flame veneer. The stock neck pickup is fantastically clear with great note separation...more so than the Duncan Jazz model IMO. And the bridge pickup just roars with a dirty amp. Once I filed the nut slots a little wider and tweaked the trem' springs, this one stays in tune very nicely. Plus a trem' on an LP is a rarity. There is just nothing I would change including tuners. They work fine. This pattern-thin neck plays like a dream and she weighs just north of 8 lbs. The core looks beautiful, but I don't think I could justify the extra cost when this SE is just so good. PRS (and Tremonti) deserve some real credit for taking the LP model into the future. Gibson got stuck in 1959 and never looked forward.

Awesome video! Here is a very noob question (got my GT today). My setup is also the 4CM. Let say I am using wah (using exp1), chorus and delay. If I want the wah to get in my EVH 5150 50W preamp input and the chorus/delay in the effects loop, how does the patch would look like? I am a little bit confuse on that one. I am able to set a patch and send the chorus/delay to the effects loop, no issues there. The confusion comes from the wah I want to go to the EHV preamp. Thank you in advance.
Hey mate, thanks for the comment. Take a look at 10:05 where I put the delay in the effects loop of my amp. Provided you’re using the GT1000 fx loop 1 in your 4CM setup, anything to the left of the green send return block 1 in the signal chain will be before your amp preamp, and anything to the right will be sent to your amp effects loop. Just make sure that green block with the 1 and the up/down arrows is activated :)
Also, look at 18:45 onwards, where I move the tremolo before the amp preamp, and into the amp effects loop by moving the FX1 block before the send and return block, and then after the send return block. So, make sure your wah is to the LEFT of send return block.
@@rnodern Thank you so much for taking time to answer my question! This solved my issue and now I can set my own patches the way I want it!
When using a wireless, where is the receiver placed in the chain?
I use a Shure GLXD16 on my board. Not sure if they make this product anymore. I just place it anywhere on the board and run it directly into the input of the GT1000.
Awesome man. Very helpful
If I wanted to just use the Boss as a post preamp fx processor (in the loop) and not utilise the 4cm, would I just connect my amps loop send and return into one of the send and returns on the boss ?
Yep, you could do that. Just use the main input and output on GT1000 and connect into your amp’s fx loop. Disable all preamp & emulation in your patches. The GT1000 has 2 more fx loops, so you can add more pedals to those loops if you wanted. You won’t be able to use any overdrive or pre preamp effects in the GT1000 however, you’ll need to run your guitar through any pedals you want before the preamp, then into the front of the amp.
Hi. Can you make a demo of using GT 1000 and the Mesa as a stereo rig with 4 Cabel Metod? GT-1000 use IR Cab in the unit and Mesa ovn cab?? Drivepedal in front of Mesa and GT-1000 amp with delay, reverb and so on with both amps? 🙂

Why aren't they releasing more these? All it takes was such a new and fresh cut, I really hope this leads to an album...
You and me both, mate! I remember seeing them say in an interview a while back that they sit on new songs and sculpt them until the band feels that they’re done. Looking at a version of this song performed +12 months ago, it has changed a bit. I guess their process is very slow because they’re all perfectionists.
In the Sydney monolith show they said as long as their fans keep supporting them they’re gonna keep writing new music and touring so it sounds like something’s in the works! Good things come to those who wait
Apparently.... During their UK tour it was said they are not making enough money to continue touring...
@@rnodern Honestly, i get that its art but i think at this point its almost a disservice to them AND the music. This really sounds NO different than the one we heard years ago! So I think that's a bit of an excuse and they just seem to have a hard to releasing music.
