Extremely well executed demo. I hope you to pressure-test with a much more resistance from the one be thrown. It is so important to know how to react to real resistance. What will you do? I have always found the some of the most difficult situations to be with a very non-compliant, very aggressive victim resisting as if his life depends on it. Please post when you do this. You 2 are great! I would love to see this & learn what other technique you might have to revert to. Grest job!
Thank you. A few years ago I competed in a regional judo competition and won 2 of my 3 matches with this technique, so definitely pressure tested. You are right though this is the first stage of drilling the technique, the next one comes with resistance. 👍🏼
@jkgardiner I hope you pit it on this site. Congratulations on your judo win!! Judo or jujitsu is a great complement to karate.
@@stevesweeton131 I’ll have to see if I can find the video, they are definitely a great combination 👍🏼

We love you sensei OSs
Using this forsure
Can you do why do people hate karate video
Well said. After 40 of karate study I agree strength and conditioning training alongside your normal martial art practice is transformational.
540 kick step by step pls
That’s a taekwondo kick, not my area. I have many kicking tutorials on here though for Karate
👏👏👏
Why do I find the harder version of everything in this video easier
🙏
Pinan shodan
Hi Sensai 🤜🤚what's your opinions about American kenpo... Do you recommend it? I want to learn karate but still in confused that should i learn kenpo or uechi ryu.
I don’t know too much about American kenpo, best thing is to try both for a session or 2 and make a decision based on which you feel more comfortable at, it depends more on the instructor than the style.

Nije to takvo i ne probavaj ushiro geri ako je vjezba mavasi gerija. Svako ima svoj stil i rjetko ko zna to udarit
Excelente vídeo! Oss
Small adjustment step with the front leg clears the straight path for the rear. Mask it with a jab or jab fient.
I use this exercise in kumite quite a bit. If I miss the roundhouse kick, most people would immediately move in for a counterattack, and that’s when I re-chamber and deliver the side thrust kick. It works well because people don’t expect the second kick and actually move in within range.
Ive been doing nats excersizes everyday and my legs are also becoming tree trunks. John should be in karate combat
This is the hardest kick for me! Really struggle with it
Hopefully this helps a bit
Perfect technique great job brother
My favorite is anan I am shito ruy for 4 years now
Always great instructional examples and explanation. Kudos!! Sensei please include mindset before starting your training. Osu
2. Idk how to do a handstand without a wall or another person.
Agree entirely with all those points
Thanks prof. John for your tips...A must to have in our martial arts video collection.

Pinan shodan ( i go to wado ryu )
And that is a correctly done back kick! All glutes and hamstring- sighted w one eye(if you're sighting it w both eyes, your hips aren't correct, it's a side kick- unless you're an owl) toes down.... Well done!
I appreciate the technical details that often get overlooked, such as turning the support leg on the ball of the foot. Helps strengthen intentionality in training. Thanks!
I've always had problems with Mawashi geri, I was really desperate. Only when I learned these techniques during training did my Mawashi geri become so clean, neat and strong. What did we learn from this: Don't give up, just keep practicing and practicing! 🥋💪🏻 Thanks John for your super helpful videos, keep going!❤
Sensacional sensei! Oss
Good work 👍🏽
thank you 🙏🏼
Great! 👍

OMG your legs are huges 😮
Legs are essentials for martial artists.
Yeah, but Mass deacreases Speed and Flexibility ? But it is not a problem for John Gardiner apparently
@@doctorv7669 I think it's pretty much the opposite, the more mass you have, the more strenght you have. The more strenght you have, the more speed you have. I may be wrong tought, I'm no expert.
The difference is that John Gardiner has practiced those kicks thousands of ten thousands of times, his mastery of the technique makes it so that he knows how to use the muscle properly
@@natoonstopmotions181doctor is definitely wrong. Just look at the physical attributes of the worlds fastest people- more muscle. Yes there is a tipping point to where it goes down but it’s typically unnaturally developed physiques that this occurs in. Even still, that said…look up the video of Kevin Levrone, a retired bodybuilder (enhanced) sprinting. He is still very fast even with all the extra muscle. The “too much muscle = slow crowd still also probably believe fat is bad, egg yolks will kill you, and probably flat earth also.
Thank You! Great way of teaching. Osu! 😊
Gekisai dai ni
This song and the intensity of bro's gaze had me thinking this video was going into an entirely different place 😆
Needs to look at the target
I am looking at the target before the spin and then over my shoulder. If you need to spin, then the spot the target before kicking, you are already too late.
freeze the vid before he strikes and look at his right eye where it looks not where his head is pointing too .
In dojo you see terrible execution of kick especially. I think for many its mobility issues and of course lack of pratise and lack of concentration when practising. Its "too late" if you just practise at dojo when you have passed lets say first half year in your karate career. Kicking is great since you can do it almost everywhere if you dont mind people straing you weirdly =) You have to do the thinking process, understand what the kick is about. Watch good kickers and try to replicate them, usually much lower than good kickers perform. Do mental exercising what is really happening in the kick and then try to execute it physically. Some people just look like its a desperate task to try to teach them to kick properly since it takes also genetic exposure to motor skills which I would say many lack but thats not the point of karate, you cant change genes (even some studies these days you actualyl can change yoru genes a bit or at least their action). Point is to kick better every month, every year, with your ability range. Truth is everyone cant be good kickers but everyone can be the best kicker they can be (by hard work) and you got the rest of your life to perform, just a bit better than last time.
You def need that technique with them short legs my man.

I answer with a question...Can you be any fitter 🤪🤣
oss
Dude you're my inspiration with your videos and shorts i have become better at mi technique. Im actually working out, not a professional fighter but a martial artist. I want to look physically aesthetic since I don't looks strong. You have any video about how to plan/ mix a workout for the week with martial training and a gym or some sets?
There is a difference between a back kick and a back side kick.
Yes, and this video here shows the difference
Which muscle parts do you think are most important in terms of stretching during the mawashi geri kick?
Hamstrings, lower back (rotation) and adductors
Slap kick and spin kick (osh)
Pinan Sandan but with a much wider stance than what I’m used to doing
Please learn us the handstand🙏
