Westside Garden 🌸🌼🌺
Right off the bat I can say great video 🌺🌺🌺
What about the perennials? Should we fertilize them now too? Some of my new hydrangeas have brown dried up leaves. Should I snip those off?
I usually fertilize my perennials with time-release pellets in spring and mid-summer (except sedum and echinacea which I don’t fertilize) and in the spring I add a layer of compost. So if you haven’t fertilized them, I’d do it. You can occasionally do water-soluble if that’s easier, but don’t feed them weekly.
Hmm who us thinking of going to miejer now
I have been hunting for my black and blue salvia I am not finding g it but it seems a least 2 plants from each place follows me home,, lol now I need more large pots lol.. vicious cycle being a plant addict
And then when you find good pots, you have to buy a whole bunch because you might never find them again. Then you need to fill them with more plants… yes, I can relate.
I was on vacay last week and my proven winners petunias and lantanas have dried out. Can I revive them? zone 6b. Thanks for your great videos.
Give them water gradually and see if they bounce back. If they do, you can cut back anything that is dead.
Hi Corey Great video as always. I don't know how you find the time but its impressive. I remember growing El brighto coleus years ago so when they said it was new I thought what the heck. I later came across the old tags and went ah ha i knew it. I do think the color is much improved though. I did read that their Boldly geraniums are just Calliope geraniums in their catalog. I guess the only way to know the difference in those double impatiens is to grow them side by side
It looks like the Dark Red shares a patent, so I'd guess the others do too. I was suprised to see PW dropped geraniums from their catalog for 2025
Good job, Corey everything looks great. You crack me up would love to have you in our area. I am considered rural oklahoma, so have to travel a ways to a nice garden center or nursery. Have learned from your experience and knowledge.
Beautiful soft combinations San Francisco Bay Area
Those are beautiful together❤
That was really interestin hearing about the patent, as well as considering the origin of plant grower.
Good morning. ☕️New subscriber here, this was my first video and already a fan. 👏🏻🌹🪻🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼💐
The big pkg was like a clown car, stuff just kept coming out. Lol
What a joy to watch you with your MIL Pat. You both are very lucky to have each other. Im glad that your seeds were germinating but the best outcome was the memories made :)
One additional comment... Could you please do a 101 on canna lilies?
This is my second year growing them. To be honest, I just plant ina large pot (15” or larger) and keep them consistently moist and fertilize once a week with a water-soluble fertilizer. Sometimes I deadhead, sometimes I just leave the spent flowers - I don’t do anything special and they just grow and grow.
@@UpNorthGardenMI thanks Corey for your feedback;)
I keep telling myself before I leave home that I'm absolutely only going to pick up what I only need to get from town and it's funny how I walk by the plants they pull me in. Like seeing all these little flower petals up saying "pick me!" 😂. I'm the one that messaged you about what colors to put with my fushia color plants. You hit it on the head of what I was trying to figure out. What pinks to put with fushia color or putting any pinks together. I wish I had your eyes to figure out what color tones of pinks works together. Any suggestions???? Can't wait to see what follows you home next😂😂😂
Hi Corey Love watching your videos.
Love the Rex Begonias! Very pretty! I added them to my list for next year so I’ll be checking to see if you do end up carrying them. 😉
You are just the sweetest, so honest 🥰 What pretty plants and combinations, I have not ever seen any of them! Where the heck have I been!?? 🤣 Thank you so much for sharing a new to me recipe!
The opening had me dying laughing. While ill admit to myself and the cashiers that i have a plant problem, ill never admit it to my husband which is why i hide them in the trunk and wait for him to go to bed to bring them out. And no receipts. Ever. I cant have him finding evidence.
Well now I am just going to watch you more based on your need to know! Similar to mine, hence why I could never finish writing my PhD lol. I appreciate your geekiness and willingness to say you think you did something wrong, but like another commenter stated you should contact PW and see what kind of tricks they are up to- I mean confirm that the catalogue patents weren’t misprints. Because mistakes happen.
I did send a message to our Four Star sales rep… asking her if they have some kind of magic fairy dust they use 😆
Thank you so much for the great video! I bought two petunia wave baskets 4 weeks ago, and I have watched all your petunia videos. I have done everything including sunlight for more than 6 hours. I water every other day and fertilize weekly and cut off 20% but they don't look lush and full 😢 nothing like the ones you show in this video Infact one has developed a big empty space in the middle. I live in Northeast Ohio. I have spent hours taking care of these plants but it is just not working😩 I'd really appreciate it if you could please help me. I wish I could share pictures of them.
Sounds like you’re doing all the steps (however, I’d say water only when they need it rather than strictly every other day). How many plants were in the baskets and how big was the basket? That could be playing a role. You could try fertilizing twice a week for two weeks in a row to see if that gets it to produce. 🤞🤞🤞
@@UpNorthGardenMI thank you for your quick reply! I bought them from Petitti Garden Centers that are local to our area here. But the workers didn't know how many were planted in the baskets. Is it possible that I email the pictures to the address on your website?
I won’t be able to determine the number of plants from a photo. Did the find at your nursery see your pics… did they have any thoughts?
@@UpNorthGardenMI Yes I understand. I just thought if you see them you might be able to tell whether I need to repot them or devide them into two like you did in your "Mother's Day basket" video. The people at the nursery were not very helpful unfortunately 😕
@@shahrzaddavarpanahjazi9469 I’m bummed to hear they weren’t helpful. I wonder if they were pots they got in from a grower or something they planted themselves - if it’s the latter, I’d be very disappointed. There’s an email address in the channel description. Send over some pics.
So interesting! I love how you look into things!
So interesting to learn this!
It was nice to hear you mention 4 star greenhouse because it’s only a couple miles from me
Me too!
I think people put plants in my car when I am not looking. That is what I tell my husband and I am sticking to it!! Also regarding the patent information , I wish there is a place to figure all that out. I hate over paying for a PW plant when it is same as the “black pots”. I don’t mind paying move if they have improved/tested the plant. They deserve to be paid for their time and research. I appreciate the fact that you talk about this type of information. Your knowledge is helping us all.
I’m certain there is a plant gang stuffing plants in my car wherever I go 😀 Knowing the plant patent info isn’t always that helpful because there’s not an easy way to find out where to buy the alternative - and very few places would carry both. Depending on where you live, it can be a good idea to shop around for PW plants - I’ve found the prices tend to highest in suburban areas - meanwhile, I’ve been to rural areas where they charge exactly the same for PW and non-PW plants.
I have the same problem🧐😂💜
Glad I'm not alone 😅
Ha! That's a new take on us who obsessively by plants
@@UpNorthGardenMI. My local GREENHOUSE charges the same for PROVEN WINNERS as other plants. They go by pot size. Unfortunately they don’t carry a wide variety. I would love it if they did.
I’m in SE MI spend a lot of my work/home gardens budget with them. I’m headed to Meijer garden center to see what goodies they have now. I hope they have the trailing zinnia. Love the Rex begonia.
LOLOLOLOLOL!! Me TOOOI!!
I bought some new pots today and they do not have holes. The bottoms are flat. Should we drill holes in the bottom or sides? Love your videos. I learn so much. :)
I’d drill on the bottom… depending on what surface they are on, they may benefit from pot feet/risers (I’ve used plastic bottle caps).
@@UpNorthGardenMI Thank you. They will be sitting on rubber mulch with Dewitt weed barrier underneath the mulch.
Hi Corey from Connecticut! I'm new and love your channel, such great information! I purchased a premade Proven Winners Container Style from my local Lowe's that has Rockapulco in it. It's the "Gloria Rose" and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! It has Diamond Frost Euphorbia, Proven Accents Hippo Rose Hypoestese Phyllostachya and the Rockapulco Rose. I replanted it in a larger pot. It is one of my favorites, so very pretty. I saved the tag hoping to make my own next year.
That sounds gorgeous… and I’m so glad you transplanted it. I picked up a different combo from Lowe’s and it’s taking forever to grow (I didn’t repot).
I know you don’t have time to make long vids, but I could watch you for hours!🥰
Wow you blew my mind about glimmer and rockapulco! I always look up my plants! Your lucky to have grower catalogs!
I ended up using the internet to connect the dots. Both Proven Winners and BallFloraPlant are forthright about the patents numbers - it just takes some sleuthing. I’m still dumbfounded as to why I’m seeing such a difference in the Glimmer vs Rockapulco that I’ve grown.
I love giving my containers haircuts! It makes a huge difference!
Three beautiful containers.......... very colorful and quite attractive!!!!! Thanks!
You are AMAZING! You have such knowledge of the plants, colors, techniques! Love what you’re teaching all of us! Thank you so much!
I know - why is it always ME they follow home? 😂 I think if space allowed a purple potato vine would be stunning in the first pot.
Oooooooo. Why didn’t one of those follow me home? That would look beautiful - and a little bigger pot would do the trick 😀
Yes plants follow me home too!😂
I look so forward to all your videos!!!
