San Diego is about a seven hour drive from my house and I was really nervous about making the trip alone, which is why I decided to venture outside my comfort zone. I'll get home Saturday then turn around Tuesday and drive to Northern California to visit another dear friend for a few days. When my traveling is done I'll break ground on the sheshed. Tawanda!

As frustrating as it is, the neighbor did nothing wrong, or at least nothing actionable, where the drilling was concerned. Water availability is a gamble in the foothills of the Sierras, and I'm thankful that our well has produced for so many years.

@@VictoriaTheBoss-dz5wk Funny you should mention that! Every time I shoot a video from the porch I ponder my spider webs (daddy long legs) and think that I really should take a break from my other jobs and dedicate a morning to scrubbing down the porch.

@@cherylcoyote lol hahaha , you are so sweet , reason I said that was nothing negative, just a spider bit me while walking my dog , my toe got swollen so bad had hard time to bend or walk on it, ended up in ER and got steroids and antibiotics for it and took a week to heal , just be very careful this time of the year. @@VictoriaTheBoss-dz5wk Oh my gosh, how horrible! Years ago I was bitten by a black widow. It caused awful abdominal pain and a nasty wound, although your experience sounds much worse than mine.

@@cherylcoyote yes, they bite nasty , it hurts so bad but am healed now however I always look for spider webs and the minute I see them around my windows or enterance door , come out my broom and towels to wash it all away lol and even kill the spiders if I see them , have no feelings for them at all lol

Thanks! Emerald green reminds me of my beautiful mother, who was a green-eyed natural redhead with a penchant for emerald jewelry. Mama was a true southern belle, magnolia-skinned and soft spoken, but tough as nails. I miss her acutely.

200F(about 95C?) - I set the oven at 275F but a viewer suggested 200F for less color loss. I tried it and I agree. A little less heat was preferable.

That's the point - people aren't sending me or the neighbors money, they're sending money to the horses. What difference does it make as long as the cash is used to support them? People want a happy ending and I want to provide it. Consequently, I'll be posting frequent updates on their feeding, care, and progress. Hey Daniel! I was wondering when you'd weigh in on this. I've got them on rice bran with a little feed grain, plus an apple and a carrot each day. We're starting slow and watching their poops and behavior. I'll add alfalfa soon. Meantime, they're chomping the ample grass in my upper pasture. I know that the impulse is to just turn them in, but one of the things that comes with age is wisdom. What's best for all concerned? Keeping them in the neighborhood and together makes the most sense. Keeps tensions at bay and gives the horses a chance to fatten up under my supervision. If the neighbors had refused my offer to help then this story would have ended differently, with a call to the SPCA. Discretion is the greater part of valor, my friend.

I've struck a balance between pushing myself and being reasonable about hydration, frequent breaks, moving carefully, and all the rest of it. Let's hope my enthusiasm doesn't get the better of me!🤣

Thanks! Yes, so many gardeners I've spoken with this summer are having trouble with low yields. I suspect that pollinators are in short supply. I rarely see bees anymore. But, like you said, next year is a new opportunity!

Yep, that's an eternal struggle. I'm cutting myself some slack about stress eating, while staying on top of my weight and making some changes. Right now I'm most concerned with getting enough water and protein, while continuing the intense physical exercise. I don't normally weigh every day but I'm doing it now, and probably into next month.

If the neighbor decides to relinquish the horses, I'll foster them while they find a new home. Properly cared for horses are very expensive, more than I can commit to in the long term, but I'll help as much as possible. The situation is heartbreaking.

Indeed, and let's all pray that they respond quickly to the feed supplements, without colic or any other issues. I haven't taken a good look at their hooves yet, but that's upcoming. The little filly needs to be handled daily, although I have very little experience with horses. But, I'm intrepid so I'm going to wade into the horse problem and see how much progress I can make. This project is a great example of my latest mantra: Do as much good and have as much fun as possible!

It's a huge bummer when you are foced to make the decision to drop a dime on someone with the SPCA, but it is what it is. Normally I'm a live and let live kinda person, but where neglected kids or animals are concerned, call me Karen and let me speak to your manager! They had a load of alfalfa delivered, but I'm going to watch those animals anyhow.
