I really like the machine but the over-reliance on the app is a deal breaker for me. If only they put a screen in, instead of the speaker.

I think that these synthesizers are totally worth it. I purchased s deepmind 6 for 350 and a deep mind 12 for 500 and I have an excellent palat that is very versatile and analog. I downloaded the jorb patches for the Juno 106 and the jx3p and the quality 6 and what a great palat!

It's 2024 and this is still my favorite mono synth. It's got just 1osc,but it sounds so lush and good..

Thanks for the great review. I have a problem with the KeyStep Pro. When saving o pasting a pattern, playback is interrupted. The KeyStep doesn't lose the sync, but if you want to build your patterns live, it's obviously not possible that way... With my Beatstep Pro it works without any problems. Does your KeyStep Pro behave the same way? Is it possible that this behavior only occurred with a firmware update and that it still worked in the first versions?

Would I swap my Octatrack 2 and Digitakt 1 combo for this? No! The Digitakt 1 is a DRUM computer/mono sampler. You don't need to sample drums in stereo if you are using the stereo effects and panning each sample. I have never come close to using 1Gb of storage in Digitakt 1. The Digitakt 2 is a 16 track stereo sampler. The Drum Computer label appears to be missing. Does it have multi-sampling capability? That would be go nicely with the increased storage. However, the polyphony is very low for that. At the price range, D2 competes heavily with MPC Live 2, which is far more capable and advanced. In the Elektron range it seems to sit between a Basic Octatrack and a "samples only" Rytm. I think the price is on the high end for what the D2 is. I'd rather wait for the price drop and see what firmware updates bring to the machine before upgrading. I got too excited when Syntakt came out. I bought a used one in mint condition and ended up selling it and buying a Rytm mk2. No going to make another mistake.

REALLY now, sampling in mono is no longer possible with a stereo sampler? In any case, can you convert stereosamples to mono in the Digitakt? In any case, can you choose which channel L/R you want to keep after the sampling? If that doesn't work and I have to send my monosamples via the computer to the Digitakt , I'll send the part back. I got it yesterday and just connected it. Wanted to sample, in mono, didn't work. I turned off the box right away. Dude, I was so looking forward to the part, love his little brother, but so... Not with me

@loopop Looks really good. One thing I find missing is an FX track....... Since they are going all in on the machines idea, they should really implement an FX track as a selectable machine, like the sampler and midi machines. And also I think they should have left the isolator filter as a second filter. Filter 1 is the selectable on and then filter 2 is the HP/LP isolator filter. Anyway.... Really cool thing 🙂

Thank you! You just saved me $1000. I have an original and I think these updates are great but don’t justify the cost of an upgrade. Awesome for new users though. A lot of these features could have been a firmware update. I wonder if some will make it back to the original digitakt.

What does the Octatrack have that the DTII doesn't? Fader, slide trigs, ability to send cue out and metronome to monitoring and not to PA, loops and jumps in arranger mode, more in and outs, looper, anything else?

They should have just added midi echo on/off. They also should have added TRS jacks instead of TS. This would give two more outputs without changing the case design.

Hey I'm interested in the astrolab for live shows. My question is I have the v collection 9 and I have made some sequence arpeggios that match my tempo in my DAW, so my question is when I want to upload the preset to the astrolab, how do I make sure the arpeggio will match the tempo of my DAW for live use?

Can the Digitakt II 'forward' pitch and modulation Midi information from a master keyboard to another Midi instrument selected on another channel? The OG one could not...
