98% of Homeowners Don't Know this About their Sprinkler Controller! Be the 2%
Welcome back everyone to The Sprinkler Channel! Subscribe to easily find all our tutorials on sprinklers. Today we are talking about the awesome seasonal adjust feature found on basically every sprinkler system controller, clock, or timer that has been installed in the last 10+ years (a guess, maybe it's 20+). Watch this video and get pumped to find out that you can change one setting and all your station run times will be changed instantaneously! Like magic but not, well, unless you don't understand how it works then I guess it is magic then. At any rate, you can be that magician simply by watching this video. Why not just watch it all the way through so you aren't back here watching it again later on because you skipped over a detail. Just throwing that option out there. The seasonal adjust feature is found on most brands whether it be Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Orbit, or any other control whether it be a smart controller or a regular sprinkler controller like this Hunter Pro-C one I am using for this video. If you have read this far in the description, high-five. ✋. Ok that is enough jibber jabber, let's get to watching and doing. Until next time, chau!

    Thanks for the explanation. I thought this would solve my problem, but I didn't. I have a Rainbird 5000plus that doesn't spin. It comes up when watering, but only sprays in one direction. I can adjust the radius with the screw, it can be turned from right to left and back. I took out the head and cleaned it with water and found no abnormality, put it back, but it does not turn. Water pressure is fine, other heads work fine. What could be the reason?

    • @thesprinklerchannel

      Gears are probably stripped internally- replacement is the only probable solution from the sounds of it.

      Electrical Tape or wire nut if exported loose ends or simply fold back to let me know unused wire strands.

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel Před 3 dny

      Solenoids can go bad, you can swap with another to test but more often it is corrosion in wire connections especially if not using silicon wire nuts.

      Not super versed on all the electrical specs. Might be better off asking electrical engineer but I would imagine you’d be safe with a thicker gauge versus a thinner gauge wire. I’m used to just using the standard sprinkler wire and valves

    Great video! A couple ?? 1) to move the left stop clockwise - the reverse of what you did - going from 9 to 8 o’clock - you have to turn it counter clockwise 7,6,5….10,9, right? 2) I’ve seen pros twist the head counterclockwise to move the left stop like you did. But while sprinkler is working. I think I read that you shouldn’t do it with water on. Thoughts?

    • @thesprinklerchannel

      Depending on the age of the clock, sometimes the motherboards are shot and the clock will need to be replaced. Hard to say without more info but if it’s old I’d try replacing it. Check wire connections before doing that though.

    Is "funny pipe" the same thing as "swing pipe?"

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel Před 14 dny

      No, swing pipe is referred to in similar function of sprinkler system but usually is made of schedule 80 with elbow fittings and allows more directions for the head to swing - left right, back and forth, up and down.

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel Před 14 dny

      Flex pipe would be the more common alternative description for funny pipe.

  • @WeGoWalk
    @WeGoWalk Před 16 dny

    Why not use 3/4” funny pipe instead of half inch? By going 1/2” you are effectively reducing the water flow to that sprinkler head, right?

  • @WeGoWalk
    @WeGoWalk Před 16 dny

  • @WeGoWalk

  • @WeGoWalk
    @WeGoWalk Před 16 dny

    You may want to edit this video to add in some B-Roll close-up footage of the exact way to install that nozzle. Do you drop in the lower portion first or the upper portion of that red nozzle first and then snap it in place? You state a couple times the “45-degree angle” but you don’t tell us whether the bottom of that red nozzle goes in first or the top. I think some B-Roll close-up video there would clarify that and make it crystal clear. Nice video. Keep up the good work.

    I have a white wire that’s been cut and I found it when the pipe near it got a leak. I think the guy who worked on my system cut both but I just found it. My system has 7 zones. Your wires are all in that nice black sheath, this white wire is super tiny and just laying nearby all on its own. I haven’t even found both ends. So frustrating. Can you tell me what to look for when I go to Lowe’s because I’m going to need more wire, I think I’ll have trouble getting ends to meet otherwise but not sure what wire I’ll need.
