    Gosh, this makes more sense than the brand video! Having you show which side is left was critical (basically being behind the sprinkler). The user has to know that before they can begin in order to get that fixed side pointing correctly! That is what messed me up. Thank you for that help. Now, to your next video on installing the nozzle - I want distance, but have low pressure - hope you cover that there.

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! Super happy to hear this helped! Low pressure is always struggle and usually should be dealt with when designing sprinkler systems. A couple things to try if you are able to without adverse effects: Lower flow nozzle such as .75 nozzle. You may just need to install an additional area to cover an area. Another drastic option would be converting all the heads over to pop up heads and using the MP Rotator nozzles to be able to reach long distances still. Hope this helps in some way! Let us know what you end up doing or what ends up helping.

    Thanks. I bought a new one and installed it which I've done before. I tried to get the left spray setting exactly where I wanted it but it was slighty off and didnt want to break the pipe. I turned on the system and got the right stop where I wanted it using the screwdriver and cemented in my mind, counter clockwise less travel.
    Anyways not happy with the left setting so while running I turned the turet farther right then I wanted and let it go and the left spray now went to where I wanted it, then used the screwdriver again to reduce the right arc distance and it was perfecto. Thanks

    Just purchased a dozen of these with some hose end spikes and 3/4" to 1/2" reducers and a couple dual valve timers so I can get good coverage for our new house. The company laying the sod uses this setup for the unsold homes. I took a peak at their set up and thought, well their yards are looking good, so I am trying to mirror that. I think once I can get the starting point nailed down, this whole thing will be a lot less intimidating. I put two down on the side of the yard to start and just run them at 360 degrees for now since that is an easy setting to do. What I like about this sprinkler is it still has a good spray when it's in a series. I tried some cheaper impact sprinklers and the water pressure drop was enough that neither one would continue to spin. I cannot wait to get the timers set up and I can stop thinking about all the watering I have to do and the 5000s will help get the proper coverage on the yard.

Do you do move the entire thing, grabbing the very top or the middle, when the water is running or not? Some others have said to remove the entire body - so that means I would have to dig a foot down??? Thanks for any insight.

      I think you are saying how to change the starting position aka fixed side of the sprinkler head. If so, great question! You should be able to push down on the top of the head while its operating with your palm and twist it back left a little to change the left/fixed position. If you can't get that to work for you, you can unscrew the top out of the body pull it up and then reinstall it with the left point where you need the fixed side to be (just make sure it is off and the head is rotated all the way to the left before doing. Let me know if this answers / solves your problem. Hope this helps!

Since a “radius” is half the distance across a circle, the word is better suited to how far you want the water to travel from the head.

    I have set the radius to throw upto 10 ft and its working well. But how it will water like 4 to 7ft. Because most of the water is thrown 10ft distance. Any suggestions ?

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  Před 3 lety

      Hi San. So the Rain Bird 5000 will spray or throw water distances between 33 feet and 50 feet depending on nozzle selection and pressure at head. But maybe the answer to your question is that the rotor heads will appear as more water is getting thrown at the edge of the spray but in reality the water is getting dispersed evenly given the area it is covering. Let us know if this answers your question. Also make sure that your nozzle is still installed, otherwise you will have all the water going to one place.

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  Před 3 lety

      Hi B, Like Brandon stated, the only way to stop the flow entirely with the Hunter PGP is to remove the head and install a cap. It should be a 3/4" threaded cap. You may want to mark the are so you can find it again if you want to reinstall it at a later date. Another option is to replace it with a Rain Bird 5000 Plus that has the capability of turning off the sprinkler head. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the great video. I need to refresh myself with this info every time I need to replace a head. But I do have a question.
    I have a collection of Rain Bird oscillating sprinkler heads stacking up that don’t oscillate anymore. Do you know if anything can be done to get them back working? Is something broken or clogged? Or if nothing can be done are they worth keeping or taking them apart and keeping something that can be used to fix others?
    Do you know of a video that explains the inner working of the RB 5000 sprinkler?

    5:42 "...so you want to fix that arrow on top after you turn it to the left all the way. Then you make sure that arrow is facing down the edge of the lawn or fence." What if you turn it left all the way and it points out into the street? When I screw the spring-loaded telescoping head assembly down into the empty cylinder, it stops with the arrow pointing out into the street.

      The Rain Bird 5000 has a minimum rotate of 40 degrees. I am wondering if another solution might be best for your situation. There will be a video coming out in the near future related to park strips and the special nozzles that are intended to water narrow strips of grass such as park strips. Feel free to share more info of your current design on here so perhaps we can get a better idea of what your current design looks like

    • @thesprinklerchannel
      @thesprinklerchannel  Před 2 lety

      The minimum rotation for this type of rotor head is 40 degrees. If you are needing coverage for a park strip (narrow strip of grass). A pop-up head with a park strip nozzle is probably going to be what you need. I will put this on the list of videos to make.
