I like how Regan’s weakness becomes her strength and the monsters strength becomes their weakness, that’s pretty smart from a narrative and writing standpoint.
That’s super true, I never thought of that!
That was basically the entire first movie this one is pretty much the same just with a more adventurous side to it
It's a rather common trope, well executed nonetheless
In a comedic stand point it would be like the movie Mars Attack.
you spelt their wrong it's their as in its theirs how you spelt it was there as in over there

tbh
nah its easy , directing and acting is tough , he would be happy to kill it off
he prolly wanted to kill him off so he can focus more on the directing aspect
the movie was done tho he died at the end
I wish they played more with Day 1. That would’ve been amazing to see everything they did during the first day to prepare for what we saw in the first movie.
i think it would’ve just been repetitive to what we see them doing in the beginning of the first movie
I would’ve loved to see it from other perspectives, like people on planes or like, other countries. The most interesting part is the beginning when no one knows what’s going in
Same! I wanted a little bit more flashback
Apparently just announced we’re getting a day 1 prequel movie next!
you got your wish. It’s coming out soon
man on island was my favorite character

Yep, there can be other versions found of black men and women in movies who are intelligent but killed off way in the beginning or for zero reason.

I LOVED the original movie and honestly, I think this one delivers. It doesn’t have exactly the same emotional impact as the first one, but it’s still great and seeing it in theaters was wonderful. I understand it’s not perfect, however I still really loved it.
I think it’s better than the first

@@crowleymacloed1572 i literally went damnit John Krasinsky and your obsession with brutalizing feet in these movies.
The result is what you'd expect from a film that was supposed to end in the first movie, it's not bad at all, but it's not as impactful as the first film. I personally enjoyed it.
Honestly I don’t think it could have been, with the monsters being already revealed. You can’t be afraid of the boogeyman once you see him bleed. But definitely agree, I honestly loved it and thought it was incredible. :)
LilHeinz94 sounds like something you should do since you’re so worried about other people
@LilHeinz94 bro what?
Totally agree with your assessment. As I like to say to friends, “Just because a sequel isnt as good as the original, doesnt mean its bad. Thats NOT the bar for success/quality”
@LilHeinz94 damn right
The scene where the kid gets his leg caught in the bear trap was the MOST EXCRUCIATING scene I’ve ever watched. I was so upset for the mother and him and the pain in his screams were just heartbreaking. It was a beautifully done scene for handling such a traumatic moment. #emotionallysensitive
"It isn't a sequel, it's a continuation. "
I thought that was what sequels are supposed to be.
Yea so like what is the difference?
🤣🤣🤣exactly
I think they call it a continuation because it literally takes place seconds after the first one (besides the first part), rather then a sequel being able to have big time skips and sometimes be prequels
@@jorgehonorato7540 I think what he was trying to say is that he views sequels as just new movies with new plots that take place in the same world that sometimes have the same characters. For this one, he just wanted Part II to be like what would happen if Part I was a twice as long.
@@GaviiWavii
Doesn’t it take place at least an hour after the first film?
The only problem I have in this series is that the human race hasn’t found a way to kill any of the monsters? Really? That’s like the one thing we’re good at, killing things.
Like seriously with trillions of dollars we spend on weapons how come we didn't think about Sound weapons Or something like chemical bombs
We love to kill and torture each other, ourselves and animals but aliens are obviously off limits.
I think if they choose to expand on the universe, that would be a cool story to tell from another POV. We really only see the experiences of 1 family over a year's time but other areas may have found alternative ways to kill the aliens too but have not found a way to communicate that to other areas yet with everyone being radio silent. The 2 movies we saw take place over a short period of time so who knows.
Well considering how fast and powerful they are they probably wiped out 90% of humanity in like 3 days before they could do shit
I’m wheezing this is soooo true 😭😭😭
For a slight moment, I thought the alien monsters had infected the little girl and the boat people and made zombies.
me too haha
Literally my exact thought

Same I was like “oh great, they gotta deal with zombies now” 😂
That’s literally what my mom thought
The sound designs are just Bone Chilling. You can’t tell me the sounds don’t tense you up everytime it goes silent
seriously though, the opening scenes with the thudding and clicking of the aliens and the wonderful cinematography had me uncontrollably, silently shaking. It was wonderful
@@plasmaxl8626 exactly
When John Krasinski was making the film, he asked Millie Simmonds (dear actress who plays Reagan) and her mum how much Millie can actually hear
They said she can hear louder noises as deep, low sounds
And any time it cuts to Millie’s character, the sound changes to that deep quality
Apparently the mother cried when she watched the movie, cause she was able to experience what her daughter does
But even watching it myself, the sound designs just take me so much deeper into the film, like I’m right there beside them
Truly remarkable
I just hated how easily they killed off “man on island” when they made him seem more integral to the plot in the trailers, the actor (Djimon Hounsou) is really underrated. Also what was the plan supposed to be once they got to the radio tower? If it was just a distraction wouldn’t the alien then just run back to the homes?
What are you talking about? They would broadcast the sound and kill it.
i don’t think he died tbh, he didn’t die on screen..
Absolutely
Waste of his character tbh
The point about Emmit (Cillian Murphy's character) not allowing a young family to join him doesn't hold much weight. This is a survival situation against creatures who can hear sound. He expects, and rightfully so, that the baby will cry. He hasn't had experience with this and doesn't know how to deal with it. He's starving going from his comment about there being no food and trying to save himself. I don't think it's really all that harsh to say they have to leave.
agreed
Additionally he's dealing with the fact that he couldn't protect his own family and he's obviously harbouring feelings of inadequacy
Sure, but what's the point in surviving alone for many years in this shelter anyway ? Would he really feel better to let them fend for themselves ? Plus he has a weapon to try and perfect, thanks to their resourcefulness. They're not that big of a burden.
that man was ready to die before evelyn and her children showed up.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly. Your crying poop machine isn't getting me killed. That kid was YOUR choice, not mine. It also pissed me off when she coerced him into going after Reagan. Lady, that isn't MY kid. Get her yourself.
Sometimes the aliens don’t hear them, sometimes they aren’t in range. So why risk making any noise. That’s why sometimes the rules seem off when you don’t look that deep. It’s why the broken lantern didn’t alert one but the raccoon did. It isn’t guaranteed one hears the noise it’s pretty simply why risk making any noise when one CAN hear you. And in the sequel like 5 are dead so the odd of being herd are even less
I got to watch this in 4D with like water spraying in my face when they killed the aliens and the chairs moving along with the car rides, smells when there was fire and or when they were in grass, etc. It's made the movie even more amazing. I loved this one! I thought it was a great continuation!
I’m I watched it but I’m going to rewatch in 4D!
I’ve heard of this. How does it work if you buying snacks or what if someone complains about getting wet?
@@gustavogutierrez2709 I mean if you complain you shouldn’t have gone to see a film in 4D

I actually had candy for the movie and I didn't know we were going to get sprayed on lol so I started coughing cause I swallowed the candy (they were gummys). But I was fine luckily! But yeah if you go to one just look around and see what's going to happen to you. It was our first time and we didn't really check and the water sprayer was perfectly visible as well as the places air would come out of (there were air holes in our seat behind our heads). There was also a little plastic long small tube near the feet so it would hit out feet at times, and the chairs and the hydraulic systems were clear to see. Everything's usually visible. But if you go to one you expect water to come at you.

I felt like the movie wasn’t long enough. It was 10/10 but i just felt like it wasn’t long enough. They easily could’ve finished off the story & had the mom & son go to the island so we could have some closure to the story because I don’t think krasinski is gonna make a pt 3.
im thinking it was made to possibly lead to a part 3 but also to stand on its own
i agree! I wanted to see more because it was so good!
@@plasmaxl8626 Low chance

@@plasmaxl8626 I’m hoping for a part 3 but then again it’s like how can they continue the story without it being boring. We know that the mom & son are probably gonna join them on the island so they really don’t have more story to work with, they’re just trying to survive, not really go in the world & meet new people. Well, they'll come out eventually.
The second movie was not as “impacting” because we were in the unknown during the first movie which is why it had more feeling to it, but the second one was still great, and like he said it isn’t a sequel because the storyline continues (continuation) onto exactly what happened after Lee dies. Anyways it was still a good movie so stop complaining.
I really liked this movie but the only thing that was bugging me was how the ending came very bluntly (slight pun) to me and how it didn’t feel truly resolved to me idk I truly did enjoy the movie though
possible lead to a part 3
Because if they didn't cut it immediately, part3 movie will only be 30minutes. Pretty sure they're running out of stuff to show, knowing this was only planned to be a 1 movie. But I'm just kidding who knows.. It actually felt the same with the part1 ending. It was too abrupt.
@@plasmaxl8626 If they do a part 3, they must go for a time jump. Noah Jupe was 12 in the first movie, he was obviously 14 and going through puberty in the second movie, and he's now 16 and couldn't pass for a 12 year-old if his life depended on it. Hopefully they don't overlook that. It would be a bit boring to watch Regan and Emmett go back anyway, this should be an ellipsis.
I definitely agree, when it ended I actually went “oh” like wow just left it open ended. I’m guessing it’s supposed to lead into a third movie to make it into a complete trilogy. But idk it did feel weird
I have a question if it’s suppose to be a sequel why did the story go back to the youngest child being an infant again as oppose to staying in present day with him being a toddler? And how did the father die??
He mentioned the “cannibal character” and honestly, I never thought in a million years that he was planning on eating Millie. Must have a really twisted mind.
thats not even as bad as what my twisted, scared mind came up with. Really shows the power of the imagination in horror eh?
I thought they were gonna take her in order to breed, this would be a common issue in most survival scenarios. 28 days later had this come up from what I can remember.
Well, I thought they might be cannibals, as well. It makes sense. Maybe I just have a twisted mind, idk
I thought they were gonna use her just like how they used the little girl to trick Emmett

True but thats kind of the point of the first movie too. The survive vs. thrive argument that Blunt and Krasinski's characters were having. Bringing a baby into the world shows that you're not letting the monsters control you and you're going to continue living your life as best as you can.

I personally really liked it. The ending impacted me a lot, but it feels like a stand-alone movie and not just a sequel. It ends with the same solution that the family came up with in the first one, except with both kids using it. The only really new things in the sequel were the people who live by the boats and the island. I’m not too picky about movies so it didn’t bother me too much lol but I still think the ending could have been different

I kinda like that we as viewers don't know more than the characters. Its an interesting difference between this and othee monster/alien movies. It really puts you in the characters place and makes you feel the suspense and major plot points even more. This way, you're not yelling at the screen because the characters are doing stupid stuff.
I saw the second one in theatres without seeing the first one. I was quickly able to piece together some aspects of the story from the first movie, but the second one has to be the better of the two. Watching the kids kill a death angel in parallel to each other was an amazing way to end the film. And the movie had me gripping the armrests, man. Good experience I say

I was yelling at my computer everytime Marcus did something stupid. Apart from the bear trap, he was a useless liability most of the movie.
Noah Jupe deserves an award for his performance. He did so much with so little dialogue like every scene he had made me so anxious especially when he got in the bunker with the baby
4:03 they didn’t wear shoes to keep their footprints quiet. Additionally, I don’t understand why they didn’t cover their feet in fabric/bandages at least tho. They could find protective coverings that don’t create additional sound.
Literally like wearing socks would still keep their footprints silent. Going around barefoot wouldn't that just be painful, especially considering it's not paved smooth roads there walking on.

Nothing like a good ol franchise amirite. Still enjoyable 7/10
The characters turned into absolute fools in this movie. They had dumb decisions in part 1, but they crank it up to 11 with the three mc's constantly doing the worst thing they can given the situation.
One of the first logical comments ive read in here. THANK YOU
I saw this in theaters today, in 4DX was well, so it was pretty much a literal rollercoaster lol. The quiet and then a sudden thud or jump made the seats jolt, causing many in the theater to yelp or scream! It highly raises the tension/suspense of not only what will happen in the movie, but in real life, I'd highly recommend seeing it that way if you can!
Same
I mean I also watched it on 6-5-21
i loved every minute of this movie. truly did a great job continuing the story of living in a silent world.
Not gonna lie, this sequel was really underwhelming. My mom and I left frustrated at the kids for always putting themselves in bad situations. I appreciated the cinematic effect and quality editing, but this movie felt so stretched out just to make it to the hour and 30 min mark. Post-production essentially saved this movie. This sequel didn't add anything to the story (no new info about the aliens) and the ending was quite blunt. I definitely recommend renting the movie as it was not worth the $30 trip to the theater. Some people were even complaining in the theater saying, "that's it?"
Edit: I understand putting the family in danger is what makes the movie "scary", but the plot (or lack of) relied too heavily on the children in my opinion. I see how they wanted the story to focus more on them, but they couldn't carry the story well enough which made it fall flat.
[SPOILERS] Some decisions that bothered me the most: The deaf daughter venturing out when she could have took the whole family to the island. Marcus exploring the creepy factory (when he was told to stay put) and finding the corpse of Emmet's wife- which made viewers think Emmet was secretly crazy, but this scene never came. Marcus, again, nearly suffocating the baby with the oxygen tank and then almost himself. The mom should have told him the oxygen tank was low and not to use it.
After seeing this yesterday, the plot and story was quite underwhelming. The visuals and the way it’s directed is INSANELY GOOD. It was an experience perfectly meant to be in theaters and I enjoyed that part of the movie BUT the plot and decisions were HORRIBLE
Honestly, I've given up hope on horror movies having good plots with good decision-making from its characters. Of course, there have been exceptions, but it's like throwing spaghetti at a wall until one sticks because, in the end, you've still wasted a ton of spaghetti
Putting them in danger is what makes the movie scary
@@nicholasadamec7888 the only bad decision in the movie that had no justification was the kid nosing around the place. Every other decision had a purpose.
