- Tearing down our 5.9 magnum build short block to see if our stroker crankshaft is still savable after it spun a rod bearing. We also show our new H beam eagle connecting rods that will be going in this 360 magnum. This stroker engine is going into our 4x4 drag truck build and the turbo 5.9 will be given all the boost.

I had the same crank out of a 408 short block I purchased. I ended up turning the rod and mains .10 under. Finding the bearings were a pain and they were pricey but still cheaper than buying a new crank and standard bearings. Biggest thing is having a good shop that can grind the crank.
Oh yes crankshaft supply does a amazing job
I've always heard that the I beam is stronger design.
Eagle I beam vs there H beam there H beam is way stronger. Idk other manufacturers
Ive heard from alot of of questionable sources that its best to go with scat over eagle , and also I changed cam in my 5.9 and had same chewed up bearing lol and ran it for thousands of miles with good oil pressure!. Obviously not ideal tho
Ya we’re going to try the eagles out see what happens
@@RacingRamFam since your filling the block you gonna run alcohol?
@@nickstephens2913 already on e85 so sorta
@@nickstephens2913 and just doing a half fill
I agree. I also noticed Eagle uses 3/8” rod bolts compared to Scats 7/16. Also there are plenty of photos of the Eagle cranks snapping on the front journal. That’s why I went with Scat in my 408 build.
👍💪
I'm taking heads and cam out of 5.9 Durango for my 5.2 ram. I'm doing a budget build after watching your channel .Maybe Whipple supercharger I can't afford the nitrous and turbos
5.9 and 5.2 have the same heads and a 5.3 stock camshaft is biggest then a 5.9. Also nitrous cost $300 to do
Dame that sucks 😕 I just got access to the 5.9 Durango for parts
@@charleyphillips4251 ya it’s all same stuff
Are the crankshafts 5.9 and 5.2 also identical? I mean, it may be possible to replace the crankshaft with a longer-stroke one with low pistons and get a little more internal combustion engine volume...
@@megasvarshik no cranks shafts are different strokes
Does any 5.2 mag 46RH Automatic trans torque converter have a big square weight on it? For any reason? First tranny swap i found one at the junkyard but my dakota 5.2 originally doesn't have a weight...PLEASE HELP thanks
How big? 5.9 magnums used the flex plate to balance the engine not the converter. La 5.9 used the converter with offset holes that’s how you know is if one hole on the converter is offset
@@RacingRamFam it's a little bigger than an inch by an inch it's welded on the front face of the torque converter.. I think the bolt holes are almost 90° maybe one being tricky to line up
@@jobehayes8444 5.2 we’re internal balanced. But sounds like a balance weight
Is it 8L v10 time yet?
No lol
damn now I'm worried about the crankshaft ruining the nice rods. I know its your money, but I'd just go with a new higher quality cranskshaft to the same exact specs. I'd be scared to push it unless I did
It’s a forged crankshaft it will be good! Or we’ll find out
@@RacingRamFam Planning on a 5.9 and stickshift for my 95 dakota. I found a kit that converts it to OBD2 from OBD1.5. Its like 2k though because its from PIE. It will be worth it though because of the options that immediately opens up for 96 and up. I would end up spending around 2k on another computer for the vehicle if I didn't just convert to OBD2 and then I would have to wire and learn a new one and program everything.
@@RacingRamFam I don't know if I should trust pie because I've heard bad things. Though they do make an excellent argument on the OBD2 kit product page.
@@timbrwolf1121 never heard of them
Y’all did 35 psi??????? What the heck how in the world?
And I’ll be doing it again cause the 318 going for one more season
