    318WR, this video came at a perfect time. I was given an SFI balancer similar to the one in the video for my 318. However, I had no instructions included. Figured an internal balanced 318 wouldn't need any weights, but good to see some additional notes/confirmation on this type of part.

    I know I am going dirt track on this comment and the world will hate me for it. But, I am an explorer.
    Engines, I love everything about them and everything is a circle.
    So here is my bomb. Your videos are getting better. You have a knack for logic and common sense. No BS.
    But, I can see something that could be planned well out. Then executed with a quickness towards perfect as perfect can get.
    How about this?
    A 45 minute long video with both you and Uncle Tony building a Speedmaster budget hot rod engine. You talk the logic and concepts, while Tony touches up the metal and works/talks/smokes his wisdom. Both of you assemble it.
    Think of the viewers you both would gain, plus the recognition. Also it is more Mopar facetime.
    What if 318WillRun built a budget engine with Uncle Tony using only Speedmaster parts then get a time in the duster with it.
    Heads
    Crank
    Rods
    Pistons
    Bearings
    Cam
    Cam gear
    Rockers
    Manifold
    Ignition
    Everything and all of it on a 360 magnum. Bore and stroke are limited to the top end (longest stroke, bigest bore) of Speedmaster parts.
    Anything Speedmaster for a 360. Then hit the dyno then the track in the 318WillRun Duster, Then one of Uncle Tony's cars, like his fully drilled out lightend car. See the change in times from the weight.
    If you make this they will watch...

    I'm in the process of getting my rebuilt 727 automatic with racing shift kit back in my D150 . this time I decided to do an upgrade which I'll be doing a video on. I bought a B & M flex plate. On my stock pick of torque converters from CVC I could go with the stock converter or use a stock converter that had more stall to it say 300 more so I went with more stall. I'll show the brand and part numbers and specs in the video as well. sound like you have a good combo for the drag truck 😎👍🏁

    Im getting my 360 la together, the guy i got the block from gave me a torque converter and flex plate, said it was for my engine, ive been looking and looking and cant find a small block 727 anywhere near me in central Illinois, just found a small block 904 up in quad cities, do you know will my 360 flex plate and converter work with either transmission or are they not interchangeable? heard the input shafts on the 904 were two different sizes depending on the year of transmission possibly not letting my converter and 904 mate up? did the no names already happen this year? i drive down thru sikeston every once in a while on deliveries, is the track by 57 and 60, ill look it up, thanks as always sir

    • @318willrun
      @318willrun  Před 11 měsíci

      The 904 and 727's will not cross torque converters. You'll need one specific for the transmission you use. Also, beware that the 360 is externally balanced, so you'll need either a torque converter that is balanced for the 360 or a balanced flexplate for the 360 that will work with a neutral balanced converter. Also, just as a heads up, the 904 tranny is shorter than the 727 requiring a different length drive shaft.

    Don’t 904 & 727 converters have different bolt pattern diameters?

    • @318willrun
      @318willrun  Před 2 lety

      They can have different bolt patterns, but not always. Depends, 727's have 2 bolt patterns I do believe.

  • @molinelligarage1004

    So if I'm installing a 5.9 magnum in my 87 d150 ..use to be slant 6 904 powered ....I'm hunting the scrapyard for a 727 ...so all I need to make sure is that the 727 I pick out has no weights on the converter since I'm using the magnum flexplate right?

    • @318willrun
      @318willrun  Před 14 dny +1

      Correct. It will have the small thin weights (maybe) that balance the converter, but not balance weights for the engine.

    Currently I have 1 5.9 magnum & 2 360 LA cranks in my shop. I have studied them carefully & can't tell a nickels worth of difference between the LA & magnum cranks. Same with the rods. Perhaps the difference is in the pistons. Next time I'm at the machine shop I'll ask if he knows. Whatever the difference is it must be vary slight.
