"Wexford Carol" (+ "Arabian Dance" from the Nutcracker)

I sat down with my cello today to do a little improv to the Wexford Carol and I decided to record it. Half-way through I realized it needed a little extra rhythm so I added the drone part to the Arabian Dance from the Nutcracker. Then I found a rhythm on Garage Band that I liked and wanted to add, but it was in 4/4 time not 3/4, so I decided to make a poly-rhythmic jam out of the tune using both meters. Then there's a really free section towards the end - feeling the harmonies. Enjoy. :)

Very interesting! One of my favorite pieces to play on my harp is Arabian Coffee. Im in the process of getting a cello and cant wait to put it to the test. I love the Arabian Coffee drone as well the melody. The characteristics of the cello so remind me of the flowing belly dancers scarf as it waves and creates the visual of a snake charmers veil.

Very very cool. I improvise over gothic/fantasy/celtic stuff like Adrian von Zeiger or BrunuhVille. The smartest thing I ever did was to "play and say" every note on each string till I had them cold.
