Thanks for letting me know I can't do it in Windows Home, because most don't explain it. Good for you.
It was a unique tutorial I had never seen or heard of; all I knew about windows encryption was BitLocker. Thank you so much, sir, for making this tutorial for us! 🙂
Well explained and no roaming around the bush, no flowery words it just direct to the point.
I like you cuz you're explaining what decrypt means as well you're good at explaining stuff
Bro, your presentation is so damn pristine and thorough. I can listen and watch you present the freaking ABC's. Bravo. I was looking for someone to explain the Windows 10 Encryption in layman's terminology, and you did the PERFECT job. Thank you so much!
What a complement! You're very welcome. Mike has some great Microsoft training courses on our website if you're interested in certification training from him!
Very nicely explained (straight to the point, without ANY FLUFF)! 👍
Zero Fluff, Agreed and Subscribed.
Straight to the point? This should take 5 minutes at most.
1. How to encrypt.
2. How to decrypt/open both on your device and on another device.
3. How to send/email the file and open it elsewhere.
This covers virtually every scenarios a person would encounter. There is no reason this video needs to be 14 minutes.
Brilliant, really helpful and informative, very clearly described, thank you.
Thank you for sharing this .
Thank you for your good explanation!
Most excellent. Thanks very much! 🙂
Thank you. Is this encryption possible if the folder if synced on Onedrive? Will it still be password protected?
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Your content is good more progress 🌷
Appreciate it! 😀
Fucking clutch man!!!!!! you guys are seriously the best I was able to fix my computer because of this . Thank you 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
You're so welcome!!!
Good job🥰🥰
Thank you
You're welcome!
excellent
Is there a way to encrypt my data with the command prompt? How to decrypt it after I have transmitted it to my other device ?
awsome
If someone uses my user (maybe my system is hacked or I left it open) to access the file they'll be able to see it. Doesn't that break the purpose of encryption? How can I prevent this?
That's why you re-lock everything once you're done. What is the purpose of encrypting something if you're going to leave it open 24/7 on your main account? I think this was mostly meant for things you only access when you are intentional about it.
Your question is extremely valid. This process is extremely convoluted. People just want to password protect files and email files so big data doesn't have access to them.
Isn’t it safer and easier to set up BitLocker for these purposes?
In Order to Open The File Do we need to Click on Key Or Just on File
How do you put a password on a folder where you have to type it in every time?
For mine, the encryption couldn't work.
if i send file to team viewer to another computer for remote do i have to put the password
I dont like the fact that its stored to your profile on your PC. anyone who might know your login can then access your encrypted files. It would make more sense that ONLY when your THUMBDRIVE IS CONNECTED you ONLY have access then.
can you help me to solve this issue
while trying to encrypt the file the option to click is not available
what should I do to solve this issue?
what should i do i did window without encryting and the key was also in the disk C so it is also deleted my folder is not opening ????? please answer me !!!!!!
God damn it, I knew choosing Windows 10 Home would come back to bite me someday...
Like say I want to protect from my personal information that's very very personal but multiple people log on my computer sometimes
I have the Windows Home version. I saw instructions on how to bypass the blocked encryption feature but I'm a little nervous about trying it. Is it safe to do?
how do you do that?
I am not able to check the box for "encrypt contents to secure data"
which screen recording software does this instructor use?
OBS is great for screen recording
what do i do if the "encrypt contents to secure data" is not clickable, please help me
Check if you are running windows 10 home edition
One big caveat. If you encrypt folders in this way and try to open them up on _another computer_, you cannot get in even if you use the correct key. So, if your computer fails and will no longer start, those files and folders are gone for good. I used this method on some folders, took the drive with me out of the country on vacation thinking I'd access it on an external drive enclosure, and was shocked to find that I was locked out. Now I use a 3rd party app where all I need is the key and the 3rd party software. The Windows approach is dancing with the devil.
Thanks for the warning!
which third-party software are you using to encrypt your files? thanks!
You can if you export the encryptioin key and then import it on another machine you're reading from. It's not using passwords. It's using key/cert. So you need the key. The keys are in the certificate managaer and can be exported and imported.
Ya, I do not understand "if I encrypt a file then double click to open it will open , anyone else it will not"?
I have to decrypt file of my previous window. help plz!!!
Does it work on Windows 11 Home
👍
👍 thanks for watching!
I fell at the first hurdle. The Encryption option is greyed-out, and will not accept a check.
Ive followed the process but not locked
I am using windows ten but when I followed what you are saying , it did not work . i can not click on Incript button , it was like blank and can not work by clicking on it .
Same thing happened to me :( but after doing research I found out that this only works for windows 10 pro and I own a windows 10 home. To check, click on your windows key and type system information, on the OS Name you will see what type of windows 10 you have.
I encrypted my file with a password however I can see my files still. It shows a lock on each file but i'm able to see the info. What can I do to solve this.?
That’s because you’re the authorized user. If you login as another user, you won’t be able to get into the file.
I encrypted a text file. I sent this file to a friend, he was able to read the contents of the file without having the key. What am I doing wrong?
cipher /e /a C:\file.txt \X
Saved the key file on the same directoru of file.txt.
I sent only the file.txt to a friend. He oppened the file e read the content.
If you send the key as well, you might as well not encrypt it at all. Anyone who gets the email will also have access to the key.
So what if the file is shared to someone else
I have a God tier Nvidia 3080 how much will it take out of my computer
So, I can just make an encrypted file with nothing in it, then later on a safer computer drop all my stuff into it?
Don't care about 90% of this. Just show me how to use it. I only need a few pieces of info.
1. How to encrypt.
2. How to decrypt/open both on your device and on another device
3. How to send/email the file and open it elsewhere.
Let's face it, pretty much everyone here wants to password protect a file to keep it private and they want to be able to email it without giving big data access to the info.
This covers virtually every scenarios a person would encounter. There is no reason this video needs to be 14 minutes.
How to encrypt files in Windows 10 Home edition? I mean some other way to encrypt.
Good info, pity you didn't mention that it doesn't work with Home OS at the outset, you'd have saved a F bomb
why does this video have a 00s vibe..
bro keeps yapping
too much messing around. easier way is to create a bat file. put pass word on it and thats it
