Great video Chris! That lighting trick is very cool. A few questions; I'm wondering who on a crew makes the decision to shoot virtual production? I'd guess DP, but maybe director or producer(s)? Do you bring the monitor that the wheels were setup next to, or does someone else provide that for you? Also I noticed the lighting console guys had in-ear walkies and also headsets with mics, what's with that?
I think the decision came from the production company/producers/directors. Mostly about cost here, and we also had a dog in the car for some of it. Just much easier on a stage. The walkies are for interdepartmental coms and the headset is give to department heads so the DP can communicate with everyone. The camera guys also have walkies on so they can talk without bothering the main headset line.

I’ve only gotten the chance to work on 2 different systems, the ILM stagecraft I find to be the best, they have everything really dialed in.

I'm more interested in the R2, heavier loads, real cinema builds type stuff than the RS2/RS3 stuff, unless you've got some way to show something like a Raptor or Komodo build, matte box, filters, cinema lenses, wireless FF, video etc.... that can fly on a gimbal that small. Also, Yolo.

Yep! We also just threw it straight in on the dolly for lock offs, and on a low hat inside the car for a few shots.
We had one shot where I just paused the head, locked the motors and laid it on the floor of the car for a shot of the sunroof.
