  • FHP Trooper Bobby Simmons and FHP Trooper John Sewell inspect several brake components on tractor-trailers ahead of the June 4-6 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance International Roadcheck blitz. The top three out-of-service violations for last year’s blitz were for brake systems (28.4 percent), tires and wheels (19.1 percent) and brake adjustment (16.3 percent).

    A driver can check only so much on a daily Pre Trip Inspection, companies are squeezing you for every second, neglecting proper intervals of maintenance, a driver complaint is never heard, you hook up to so many different trailers and change so many trucks it's just not realistic to be able to inspect everything to this level, but you sure do sign your name and you sure do pay the fines and you sure have a record on your CVOR and you sure can't get a good job after someone elses neglect costs a driver dearly. Fellow drivers will understand this. This DOT officers should visit Trucking company fleet yards and inspect trucks before the driver sits in it and write tickets to the company.

      @alexk5442 Před 3 lety +4

      DOT does check company yards and fleet, area vehicle inspectors do that job, they also check all inspection facilities( companies which do annual inspections , car dealers etc. )

      @@alexk5442 It's not enough. I think it should be law that every trucking company (operating a certain amount of trucks) should be required to staff an FMCSA certified inspector who can clear road vehicles, and do away with field inspections. They're going to have to do this eventually anyway if completely autonomous trucks are to become a reality.

I don't know how they haven't made a license requirement or at least a general knowledge test for some of the one's that are as big as my truck. Some people shouldn't be behind the wheel of one of those.

    Every truck stop needs a pit like this so truckers can actually do a post trip inspection and find some of those pesky things they skip on pre-trips. I'm thorough on my pretrips but people look at me weirdly. I have pulled so many bad trailers that got fixed cause I'm the one who took the time to report it and bring it to the shop.

      I read this comment as the video was playing and looked for the “excitement”. Didn’t hear any. DOT has to do a certain number of inspections a month (by state policy). They don’t get paid any extra to inspect nasty trucks and find citations. In fact, admittingly an inspector said on Mother Truckers channel they often pull over nice clean newer trucks to simply “check the block” and turn in an inspection. Citations are not bonus points.

SMH. The disrespect Troopers show truckers is appalling! One of the reasons inflation is through the roof is the supply chain issues created from not enough truckers on the road.
