- ::THIS IS NOT OUR WORK:: A scientific experiment unknowingly brings extraterrestrial life forms to the Earth through a laser beam. First is the cigar smoking drake Howard from the duck's planet. A few kids try to keep him from the greedy scientists and help him back to his planet. But then a much less friendly being arrives through the beam.

@@retrofan4963 You know what? Yeah, you're right. There are a ton of continuity errors upon second inspection that makes the MCU not very well thought out. Thor series is a mess, Iron Man series feels very head-scratching, etc.
Here, it's a lot more comic accurate. It's like majority of the movies are afraid to be comic book hero movies.
@@ZZtheDark Glad to find someone else who agrees with me. Exactly, the MCU films suffers these terrible flaws that bothers my enjoyment of em and not to mention lot of the MCU films are soulless. Howard the Duck film on the other hand is a really fun film that has lot of charm and heart. And like you mention it's not afraid to be a comic book film and gets the spirit of the comic really well.
Howard the Duck, Rocket Raccoon, Beta Ray Bill, Squirrel Girl, And Spider-Ham need to be the next Avengers style movie.

I don't know why this movie got so much hate I think it's a competently made movie that's funny and fun to watch. And I think the actor (Chip Zien) voicing Howard does a pretty good job, he's funny, cynical and serious when he needs to be. I watched a documentary on the making of this movie. And they worked really hard this movie, it wasn't exactly easy. I appreciate the effort they put into the movie. I think the duck animatronics were pretty good for the time. The special effects were also pretty dang good. I think this movie gets a lot of undeserved hate. I've seen way worse then this.
It's rumored that two execs at Universal (who bankrolled this film) got into a HUGE argument that resulted in a fistfight! Surprisingly, it didn't totally flop. It made back its entire budget plus about a million bucks or so.
@@largol33t1 Yeah it didn't probably do too bad financially. There has been worse box office movies from the 80s that are well loved and appreciated today. I just don't quite understand why critics and audiences hated on it so much. I guess its easy to mimic the hate for it when everyone else seems to hate on it. But I watched it fairly recently and I thought it was pretty entertaining and I think a lot love for the craft and hard work went into this movie.

I swear the guy with the black fedora in between Ritchie and Ginger used to be this guy on an all-night party commercial that spilled over to the 90's from the 80's. I believe he was the host asking the viewers at home to dial the 1-900 number. I don't know the guy's name as I can't seem to find him credited to this movie.

It's called "It Don't Come Cheap", and was by all reports written by Lea Thompson herself. It's on the soundtrack album (which can be found with a quick search).

I kept renting this film back in the 80s because the VHS cover looked like it was a cartoon.
I despised this film, who would have though George Lucas was involved in this monstrosity?.

I enjoy the movie Howard the Duck. However, I do recommend the original Howard the Duck comics by Steve Gerber, it's a very amazing comic book series, waaay better than this movie in my opinion.
