doublewide6 Repairs LLC Clear, concise, Well Done!!!
great process
Hey man, I don't usually comment on these homemade DIY videos but I wanted to let you know you did a great job. Not only were your instructions simple and concise, but you spoke really well. Nothing annoys me more than people who um & um through these and waste time trying to search their minds for what they want to say. Thanks
Thanks, Dude! A year since the last comment and you're still helping people!
Great fix...You really are creative in repair methods!!!...I have owned an exhaust shop for years and love making stuff like this....but I have to say this is genius!!!
Good idea, great job executing it. It is nice to see how sometimes one man sees it differently than another and comes up with a solution with things on hand. Keep up the fixing, I need ideas, all my stuff is falling apart and I ran out of duct tape and bailing twine!
Yes a great video, this is a good example of what we in the Army called “field expediency”, we found ourselves making things work with a minimum of tools or material and repair parts. Keep up the great work!
...and in the non-military world we call it "MacGyvering"... lol :D
Brilliant work, mate. Would never have thought of that.
Don't you just love how this stuff is engineered sometimes? Another nice tip from you. Thanks!
+1crazynordlander Yes the manufacture the fastest and cheapest they can.
Nice work man. Wish I had seen this years ago when I was working on a bunch of quads.
Great job. I've been doing this kind of plastic repair for many years. Just one thing to add - if you don't get the metal piece in far enough before it cools, you can press it in further with a soldering gun as it heats it up again.
Brilliant thanks! I'll definitely put this to good use!
Extreme smart idea, I salute you, Sir.
Saving the wallet, mind and the planet one smart repair at a time! Keep em coming, plastic trims and body work are especially hard to fix and, for some strange reason hmm, expensive..
Nice idea, thabks for sharing it, mechanic here from the philippines
Thankyou ,this helped me out..great video and very clear explanation..cheers from New Zealand
Saves trying to plastic weld and it's a strong repair. I'll have to remember this one.
Cheers
Martin
+retrorestore Plastic welding is not as strong as this method or as easy.
Thanks, been doing this but using Epoxy to hold the wire in, you just saved me some $$
Thank you for sharing the idea.
Great info. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks dw6 for this trick. Good life.
That was a handy bit of information ! Thanks for sharing ...
Good tip. If you need more strength I have found roughing it up on the inside with sandpaper and using fiberglass cloth with one of the marine two part epoxies (I happened to use West System) does the trick. You can build it up as thick as necessary. I did the fan shroud on my truck six or seven years ago with a couple of layers of cloth (chop strand matt actually is even stronger and tends to give a tapered edge where important). Even in the hot environment it is still as good as new. It would be u/v sensitive so a protective top layer of paint would be needed if out in the sun. Now if there were a way to repair those little spring tabs on plastic electrical connectors on cars etc.!! Made to fail. Take care. Doug
Ingenious... thx for posting.
I've got one of those Bayou 4-runners at my camp in north Fl..Looks like the same model..
Thanks for the great tip,I'm sure I'll be using it..
+just1fiX x your welcome.

Question; what is advantage with aluminum wire? I would have guessed it would be music/piano wire.
Good idea thanks

Is that a Charles Parker & Co vise? I have a very old vise that looks identical to some of the C Parker Co vise's but mine is unbranded

Good job, Dude!!
Nice. Mike.
Hi I have a question, I made the mistake of putting a side cover in the oven to quick dry the paint and turned it too high so it sagged a bit. I know real bonehead move. Side panels are hard to come by due the age of my bike so I intend to do it again and form it back into shape but have no clue what temp I should use. can you shed some light on this?
very interesting method... broken plastic tabs are one of the most frustrating problems DIY's face
What else
Nice job
Good video, but I was looking for a fix on my tail light asm. both attaching point are broken off, not sure how or why?

+anhtuanvidi Thanks
Great idea. Could save a lot of bucks.
It's probably stronger than the original. Looks good.
I`v been using that torch since I can`t remember when. Say`s it first available 2005. Thought I was using it longer than that. But good trick.
slick fix! that pliers is a fencing pliers but I'm bettin you know that
fencing pliers, claw hammer, and a propane torch to fix plastic.
Awesome
Real nice!!! I love McGyver people , why buy when you can improvise .
Good presentation, DW-6. Perhaps we could just use a pair of pliers for holding the hot wire. So many items we have break and we just throw it away without trying to repair it - saving time and dollars. Some items are made to break [such as plastic connectors, etc.]. [Thanks for holding back on wild music or almost speaking English.] Waiting for your next video.
Very clever!
+paulsjunkcars Thanks, I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Yep. Good idea, like it
Superb
Cool.
you're a genius and I'm not being sarcastic great video thank you
+gene hensley Thanks too bad my SAT's did not reflect that.

Im thinking I can maybe do something like this to fix the broken tab on my fridge door shelf
Smart idea. I have some options now
Very cleaver! Seems like a great fix.
+MidwestMotoRider Thanks.
Aluminium melts if it is red hot (Al mpt=660 deg. C red-hot iron=800 deg. C). I know that from experience and from Google to back me up.
Nice!!!!
+Enbloc3 Thanks Comments and thumbs up help the video preform.
good idea
+Ozzstar Thanks I this this tip will help tons of people. Sometimes you have to think outside the box.
Pretty clever imagineering.
love it
+rtzapper Thanks for taking the time to comment, I'm happy you liked it. Comments and thumbs up help the video.
Wow - I tried rebuilding my tabs out of epoxy, but they failed after a couple months, can't wait to try this...
Report back how it works for you.
20 seconds in "Not so fast".. priceless! .. my own impression is that if you are going to use heat then you probably only have to drill the hole less than 1/2 the diameter of the aluminum wire.
Damn good idea.
cool fix. thanks
2 THUMBS UP BROTHER!!!
Just wish we didn't have to fix so much plastic. Great idea for fixing busted tabs.
+Mac Fisher I run into broken tabs all the time usually I just leave one or two broken and attach the rest.
thanks
