Free hand painting of black stripes over white scared me completely! One wrong move and it will be a quite an effort to fix. Great build of my favorite Hurricane modifications!
This is an incredible little kit. Some details are better than the Hasegawa's 1/48 Hurricane. Good thing about the 1/72 scale is that one can build an entire squadron of Hurricanes. You really did a great work with this kit.
The hasegawa kit is old. The best hurricane in 1/48 is the Italeri kit offering which is same tooling tamiya reboxed so you know its a good kit, it comes with engine etc.
When I was a kid if I liked the picture on the box I bought the model. Probably my farvorite part as I always kept the boxes. I could only afford the 1/72's so having the artwork was a cool extra.
I really enjoyed watching this build . Arma produce some fantastic kits, if you like them you will like Clear prop, their kits are of a similar standard. You make a good point about photo etch, sometimes 50% of the parts are redundant thanks to improvement in the tooling of contemporary injection parts and better decals.
Nice work Greg, I really like the kits Arma Hobby are producing, every one of them is an absolute gem! You've done a super job on this hurricane, well done!
I very rarely build 1/72 these days, for the same reason as you mentioned, failing eyesight and for me, a not so steady hand, but this Greg is awesome, if I hadn’t known I would have thought you were building a 1/48 example. No matter how good (or bad) the kit is, it is the modeller that brings them to life, and once again you have failed to disappoint. Just waiting on the Herc now 😂😂
You're so right and talking of the Herc. I've just finished the cockpit, which has great detailed crew supplied. So I'll try and get it out as soon as.
Beautiful work, as ever, Greg - when I compare this with the Airfix Hurricane I built in my youth, it really shows how much plastic moulding has improved...
Hi Greg, lovely job, I actually watch your stuff all the time, find the way you do thing's very informative and interesting. Learning all the time, thank you. 👍🏻
I'm building the 1.24 Huricane right now from trumpeter Thanks for the tips you said during the build of yours 1.24
Před rokem+1
Another wonderful build Greg. A very nice Hurricane indeed. It's just a shame you didn't choose the black one. It was flown by the Czech Karel Kuttelwascher. He was one of the best night fighters in the Battle of Britain. It does not matter. I plan to build it in 1:24 scale from Trumpeter. You inspired me a bit with your big model 🙂👍
It is totally awesome to see, how great You make that kit. Especially, how great You painted wheel wells with brush, using silver paint! And in the subject of Arma - I made two Hurricanes from them, Mk. I and Mk. IIC. These are great kits, and I personally think PE parts are "not fully necesary" in that kit. It will be also good, using simply "Model kit" standart, maybe with Yahu panel. And probably it is why Arma Hobby announced there be no more that standarts like "Expert set" or "Model kit" in the future. ;) I hope to see next sets from Arma Hobby from You in the future! All the best for You in whole 2023! ;)
Thanks Greg another great model of a fantastic aircraft. The Hurricane has always been on of my favorites and you've done it justice with this. It's good to see you back I hope all the home decor went ok and is now finished. Best wishes to you from NZ.😉
Thanks, yes, the spruce the house up task is finished. And the property went on the market about a week ago. Just have to sit and wait to see what happens 👍
Alright, sorry to be commenting on a 6-month old video. It's a great build, but I think you have been a tad unfair to Arma about the instrument panel - the reason for the two decal system they use is so that the back decal has the dials on, and the front decal is supposed to represent the glass cover - and it does work well. When you poked through the front decal I was going NOOOOO at the screen haha. It gives a lovely effect of depth to the dials [although obviously you can't see much once its all closed up].
Just a thought re masking undercarriage bays. If you intend the wheels to be down, use the other parts with them up to mask off the bays. Then remove them once the painting is done.
Hi Greg. Wonderful build as usual. I've done the Yak-b from Arma and I got the same problem with the photoetched parts. I rather prefer decals when it comes to the seatbelts or the instrument panel. Otherwise the kit was terrific. Very nice technique for the Invasion bands. They look superb!!!!!
Great little kit, it doesn’t need the PE, in some ways it takes away the pleasure of the build , i like the way you done the invasion stripes , i banked that for the future, cheers for a great build 👍👍👍
Top draw Greg i am really glad you built this marrra between the kit detail and your building skills its an absolute gem . Look after yourself ! Regards Gav.
Hi Greg - super little kit and a nice build, thanks. Agree that in this scale (and in this kit, which is detailed nicely) the photo etch contributes little. But don't be in too much of a Hurri (sorry) to dismiss it, I think the belts are still worth adding, rather than decals. Where I find PE most useful is to replace seriously overscale bits like wing fences and bomb/missile fins, especially in 1/72. Looking forward to the next one, keep 'em coming, cheers.
That is a great looking model and you did a fantastic job with the finish.... I especially take note and appreciate the description of how you did the D-Day stripes; very good idea.... 👍 I have a version of the Arma Hurricane kit; six versions but without the masks or photo-etch.... looks nice, but I really think the detail present on the newer Airfix kit is sharper and crisper, and there looks to be more of it! I've built a few of them now, and the kit goes together superbly; in some ways it's a smaller version of their 1/48 kit - without the cockpit cage framework details! However, yeah, your finished model is a very fine example of a good kit! 🙂
Really great job done Greg, I have sausage fingers and deteriorating eyesight too. Probably why I prefer larger scale kits. You’ve done a great job with this one, it’s a really nice finished model well done my friend
Once again, tremendous work sir! Looks like a lovely kit but I suffer with the same affliction, sausage fingers and failing eyesight!! Haha! Thanks for sharing your talents and take care.
That's a stunning little kit and great for people who have limited space for models. As for PE it drives me up the wall at the best of times and at 1/72 I don't really see the need for it. I hate using CA glue to fix it also as I find it difficult to get just the right amount of glue to stick the piece without having a big blob of the stuff.
Hopefully we'll see a 1:48th Hurricane from Arma Hobby some day! They certainly know their stuff. I agree, in 1:72nd some of the cockpit PE details are superfluous... Good mainly for skill building.
Nice job Greg, good technique for the invasion stripes. I have Revells new tool Hurricane on the bench and it has stalled at the primer stage as I don't like any of the color schemes supplied with the kit, but thanks;, you have given me some ideas so I am now looking for an invasion stripe scheme. You should try this kit as its not to bad. 👌
The Arma kit its nicely detailed even without the etched fret. I have two of them one the standard kit the other the expert kit. Thanks for the inclusion of your 'problems' with the photo etched parts I'm not thrilled with photo etch at the best of times. Arma does make some very nice kits , any plans to do more of them? Looking forward to your next build.
Nice review. Just a heads up. The Eduard Hurricane mk1 kit is the same kit as the Arma one, for less money. Am hoping Eduard bring out the Sea Hurricane 👍
Iwata Eclipse SBS. This airbrush is very old and has served me well, but is long overdue for replacement. So whether I'll stick with Iwata I don't know. But they are very good and reliable.
Nice cheeky little build Greg but like you my digits and eyes mean I'm waiting for something bigger! Have you changed to Tamiya Clear coats now then Greg?
Good work sir. Ive heard nothing but good things about Arma, but 72 is just too small for my eyes. Have you tried UV glue for delicates in place of CA? I recently started using it and it is much more forgiving if used with care. I say this after detailling the inside of a An-2 canopy. I got the cheapest avaialble on Ebay, very pleased with it
It looks great but it also proves my prejudice against 1/72 scale. It’s just too damn small to really appreciate the model with my awful eyes. Might get better now that I’ve had cataract surgery in both eyes. But I think I’ll stick with 1/48th. My wife won’t tolerate 1/32nd for some reason. 🤷♂️ 😄
Free hand painting of black stripes over white scared me completely! One wrong move and it will be a quite an effort to fix. Great build of my favorite Hurricane modifications!
Arma Hobby are looking like leaders in 1/72 right now. Lovely build Greg - I really like how you approached the invasion stripes.
This is an incredible little kit. Some details are better than the Hasegawa's 1/48 Hurricane. Good thing about the 1/72 scale is that one can build an entire squadron of Hurricanes. You really did a great work with this kit.

I keep all my old Airfix boxes for the Roy Cross artwork.
I really enjoyed watching this build . Arma produce some fantastic kits, if you like them you will like Clear prop, their kits are of a similar standard.

Lovely kit and a build that did it justice. Thanks.
I always look forward to your videos, Greg. Awesome work!
Cheers, and thank you for your contribution it's very much appreciated, thanks👍
Beautiful work, as ever, Greg - when I compare this with the Airfix Hurricane I built in my youth, it really shows how much plastic moulding has improved...
That detail is incredible! I need to get this kit. Stunning work as ever
FANTASTIC WORK AND SUPERB RESULT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks David👍
Excellent build Greg! 👍🏼
She came out nice!
I admire anyone that can work on these small scale models.

As always Greg, a great video / build with all relevant content and no annoying music. Thanks for sharing

Yes, they are great little kits. And there will be more builds in the future, for sure.
Love your work, Greg!
Fantastic work as always. Lovely little kit.
Cheers👍
Very nice. I liked the effect you achieved with the D-Day stripes.
Thanks for the fair review and awesome build of this Hurri. Nice jobe once again!🥇
very nice ... and interesting pick on the version you picked.
Thanks Greg another great model of a fantastic aircraft. The Hurricane has always been on of my favorites and you've done it justice with this.

Nice job Greg, looks a nice kit overall. Thanks for sharing and explaining the issues. Cheers Bob 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice work Greg!
Купил такую модель...очень хорошая детализация!🎉

I gotta say, before these steps not so much, but after a flat coat and a wash, those invasion stripes are quite convincing in this scale!
Yes its believing that it will all come together at the end, not always the case though👍
Once again, tremendous work sir! Looks like a lovely kit but I suffer with the same affliction, sausage fingers and failing eyesight!! Haha! Thanks for sharing your talents and take care.

Lovely work as usual, miss your post build introduction/ waffle tho ☺
Noted😊👍
Cracking build Gregg but I missed the intro chat and the Vulcan Squadron pic :)
It hasn't gone completely, it should be back.
Nice work as always Greg. I’m hoping Arma release the Hurricane in 1/48 as I can’t be doing with Brazil scale!
That would be very nice, especially with these colour schemes. Hasegawa did some great 1/48 Hurricanes, which I think Hobby 2000 issued recently 👍
pretty sure they confirmed they're working on just that during an interview on the Sprue Cutters Union
Nice review. Just a heads up. The Eduard Hurricane mk1 kit is the same kit as the Arma one, for less money. Am hoping Eduard bring out the Sea Hurricane 👍
I love the Sea Hurricane and built the 1/72 Airfix one some years ago. So at some point, I will build another.
*Wonderful Hurri-bomber, the unfairly forgotten britain fighter of WW!*
So true👍
👍👍
what airbrush did you use to paint the white band? looks classic
Iwata Eclipse SBS. This airbrush is very old and has served me well, but is long overdue for replacement. So whether I'll stick with Iwata I don't know. But they are very good and reliable.
@@GregsModels you can try mr hobby (gsi creos) which is similar to iwata but at a fraction of the price. Made in Japan too
I always buy the expert with Arma, it is worth it for the canopy masks. I use SOME of the PE, I hate the PE knobs and levers.
Yes the masks are a must
👍
Nice cheeky little build Greg but like you my digits and eyes mean I'm waiting for something bigger! Have you changed to Tamiya Clear coats now then Greg?
I sealed the paint and decals with Tamiya's satin. Then after the panel wash I added a Winsor and Newton acrylic matt varnish.
@@GregsModels Ah ok. Is that Winsor and Newton stuff tricky to use? I think you mentione dit was in on eof your otehr builds

Nobody does it like Greg

There, fixed it.
It looks great but it also proves my prejudice against 1/72 scale. It’s just too damn small to really appreciate the model with my awful eyes. Might get better now that I’ve had cataract surgery in both eyes. But I think I’ll stick with 1/48th.
