    This sounds so cool. It doesn't sound so much as Mr. Ozio but it sounds really interesting. I want to hear more. Joel is just one of the best man.

    I read somewhere that Mr.Oizo gets his "grain" by filtering all his sounds through a Korg MS-20. Never thought about that, but it gives something kinda unique.

      Olsak Wouldn't be surprising. Mine is noisy as shit and he used one all over Analog Worms Attack. There's a fair amount of noise or air in his samples. It would definitely add a lot of character.

    OUCH!! around 10:20 ... searching the FX Parameters list manually .. O.O
    Someone's got to show him the "Show Automation Lane For Last Touched Parameter" command. You can make a shortcut key for it, or even button on your toolbar. ESSENTIAL tool really.
    Also, if the track is set to "Automation Write" mode (normally in Read/Trim mode) then, even when NOT recording AND while not even playing, any parameter you touch has an automation lane automatically made for it. (This seems to make the previous command redundant, but as a keyboard shortcut, you can rapidly just touch a bunch of controls and hit the shortcut key for each. Without needing to enable "write" mode, which you might then forget you turned on and accidentally overwrite automation LOL. ... Options are there)
    It's the little things in life, eh? The deeper features of Reaper could certainly be more ... visible .. to the end user.
    Interface customization is a big one too. Reaper's interface can change with you and your working style as you grow, by the user adding or removing buttons for commands, and even adding additional commands (the SWS Extensions are pretty essential really). Setting up various "interface setups" which you can quickly switch between. .... I ramble. sry

      IMO the second you get Reaper you should spend time setting it up to be exactly how you want it to be.
      For instance I think Joel should drag the media explorer tab to the right side of the DAW. You can make it look basically like ableton when you do that, and it saves you going back and forth between the mixer and the explorer.
      Shortcut keys are huge as well, there's a ton of shortcuts that can be made to increase workflow in Reaper.
      The other thing I always change is the looping behavior, I find it needlessly complicated so I turn it off.
      Also get REAPack if you're going to get SWS, then you're fully equipped to handle any workflow hurdle you come across.

    The sampler in Reaper (Resamplomatic5000) looks too basic compared to Ableton's Simpler and Sampler which he uses a lot. Don't know if that will bother him that much.

    The irrational amount of hate this video has gotten just because of a harmless Mr. Oizo comparison goes to prove that elitists would rather choose to be elitists than to use their ears. This is some of the best sound design I've heard recently and some people apparently aren't able to enjoy it. Reason ofc being that they refuse to associate with the name deadmau5 out of obedience to their contrarian senses. Being open-minded is apparently a trait only musicians have, not listeners.

    • @klausherbert3040
      @klausherbert3040 Před 6 lety +4

      Nope. Ableton is outdated. Only positive: There is so much turials, packs etc. etc. for it. But the program itself is outdated and butt-ugly, even with other skins. I used Ableton for years but now I cant stand to look at it

    • @TheDeathknight23
      @TheDeathknight23 Před 6 lety +9

      Strange, I have both Ableton and Reaper. I switched to Reaper because I just have 2gb of RAM so nothing was running on it lol but still Ableton is the most widely preferred daw. Push, Push 2, Novation Launchpad are all created for Ableton. Don't know why you find it ugly, the environment is the least of someone's concern when they are focused on something. Like deadmau5 who has been using ableton for years using the same default skins. Don't know why you call it outdated. It has better CPU usage than most DAWs out there IMO
