Based on my long experience playing Republic at war, I can say with certainty that the safest ship to be on is the Mandator II-class Star Dreadnaught. I just love the Pride of the core.
Its all fun and games when you have the mandator. Its a terrifying foe to fight when playing as the separatists. One time i had space battle going for almost 40 minutes trying to take the mandator and its support fleet down which mostly had small ships but there were a couple venators and one of the admirals from clone wars, i dont remember his name but that one guy who was captured by boba and aurra sing
@@falloutgamer347 Admiral Cillian, and that's a struggle, I'm impressed you didn't choose to hit and run its support fleet to death first
@@angelshadow990 that would have been faster honestly, i had a fleet of around 1000 population and after the battle i had below 300 left with the malevolence being the biggest ship standing. But i definetily had fun which i suppose was worth it
Only problem is: the mod wasnt made by lucasfilm or disney so you cant really say that the stats are accurate (even if the gameplay makes sence). But then again the empire ai loves to spam interdictors and siege frigates, when actually it should be spamming victory cruisers and imperial star destroyers.
Pride of the Core is also fanon, which doesn’t really help knowing if you’d survive or not
The acclamators deserved more screen time and the victory-class would have been epic to see in the show.
@@Geetsly_s imposter
Why am I not surprised the two most survivable ships have names that reflect aspects of the Sith Imperative?
Honestly, this whole video judges ship safety, mostly on the location of crew quarters. But if you think about it during combat, crew quarters are going to be virtually empty as the crew would be manning their battle stations. Furthermore, since this is the case, these empty crew quarters during battle could honestly act as a buffer between the rest of the ship and hull damage.
I’d love to see an assessment like this for the lesser-known Republic ships like the Pelta-class frigate, the Charger C70, and even Dreadnoughts like the Mandator II.
Another point for the Victory is you don't see too many Jedi serving aboard, meaning they can't do something incredibly reckless to endanger the ship. Plus they were prime targets during the war for numerous reasons. Their ships usually got destroyed to show the cost of war, which is nice for the audience but not the ensemble.
“Enemy Fighters and Bombers to waltz on in and plow into the hangar deck” - or be the place where General Grievous decides to board your ship.
I wonder how that would have gone if there was a point defence type cannon inside the hanger that only shot at targets when they were coming into the hanger.
I think it would be cool to see the Victory-Class Star Destroyer in The Bad Batch Season 2
Don't hold your breath. Current Lucasfilm has a moratorium on stuff they deem affliated with the Expanded Universe.
And the Victory was born in the EU. You're never going to see it, Lucas had his chance to portray it in the last scenes of SW:ROTS in 05, but he (for some unfathomably stupid reason) left it out. I want to see it too, but with the state of Star Wars since 2014, I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything.
@@sonofeyeabovealleffoff5462 Correct me if im wrong, but wasnt the Victory mentioned in the original trilogy?
My idea would have been to use a single prototype Imperial or victory class in the season 1 finale of Bad batch. It would have been perfect to show its bombardment capabilities
@sonofeyeabovealleffoff5462 well they have been adding legends stuff back into cannon all the time now, such as the Quasar class carrier
@@sonofeyeabovealleffoff5462 It is unfortunate that the Victory-Class Star Destroyer will probably won't be in the Bad Batch Season 2. If only Disney was smart (No offence to any works at Disney).
Gotta love seeing the Victory getting more love. It's my favorite capital ship in Star Wars after all. The Acclimator may be the best Republic ship over all, but the Victory is the better warship.
An Acclemator would probably be the most safest of all these Warships as they will never be present in a raging battle, and they mostly used as Transports that carried entire armies across the Galaxy in the safety of entire Fleets.
Except they were the landing ships for massive invasions, meaning bombers and AA targeted them first.
Venator-class: only 8 turbolasers, thousands of starship-killing fighters and 2 bridges
Imperial-class: much more armed, exposed power generator, only 2 highly exposed shield generators, only a few dozen TIEs and 1 bridge
*cue Yoda-like pondering*
The Star Destroyer was built like a battleship and the Venator served more as a carrier
Warfare changed from countless disposable droids and decent enemy ships to enemy being comprised of ragtag militias and ramshackle navies with armed insurgencies. Im not disagreeing with you, there were numerous design flaws with the ISD Imperator (Imperial) class and it's mk2 brother.
"Lack of Weaknesses" I dunno the Victory has those massive missile bays. Magazine explosion.
The Acclimators were built tough, but that's because their usual mission was slugging it through ground defenses, and delivering a fighting force safely to the surface. A tough ship for tough missions.
Im pretty sure the best ship to serve on is actually the Arquitens is probably the best ship to serve on, its a patrol craft, designed to keep an eye on small systems and in larger engagements deal with fighters, which it was more than equipped to deal with. The example from TCW wasn't a showcase of it awfulness, it was a showcase of that ship commanders incompetence, it would be like a WW2 destroyer going up against a Battleship and expecting to win, or to bring it back to starwars, like Leia's corvette in starwars ep 4 trying to 1v1 a star destroyer, simply not what it was designed to do. In terms of survivability it may actually be the best due to the simple fact its faster than most large warships, and most importantly of all, NO ONE expects you to fight a Providence in that thing, you wont be court-martialed or executed for running away because thats part of your job, in a Venator or Victory I they would expect you to take the 50/50 odds.
The guys at Samar would say something about the "WW2 destroyer against a battleship and expecting to win" thing, yeah 2 of the 3 got sunk, but they put up a valiant fight. Their armor was so thin that the huge AP rounds for the CAs and BBs just passed right through them, until they finally switched to HE shells. And the American Taffy 3 WON, even though outmanned, outgunned, outweighed ,and outnumbered heavily by the IJN Center Force.
The true comparison is the light cruiser vs a battleship; armor thin enough to let the round through, thick enough to arm the shell, causing catastrophic damage.

Clone Trooper: "Alright time to make an important decision which will benefit the Grand Army of the Republic for my brothers."
I appreciate you using the “victory” class in the thumbnail. Everyone always forgets about it because it never appears canonically in TCW tv show. that ship advanced naval warfare for the republic by a large margin and won so many key victories and battles and is never given credit. The Fractalsponge depiction is my favorite.
Video Idea: Why The Clones were better characters than the Jedi in the Clone Wars Show
Good idea.
And why the opposite is true in the CWMMP.
I will argue that on the Arquitens you would see few large scale battles and would mostly be relegated to patrols and anti piracy operations. so by being in battle far less often it becomes relatively safer
Sometimes the best ship is the most dangerous. In a battle, the enemy is going to want to take down the best enemy player.
I love these types of videos about quarters and living conditions. Keep it up!
No matter the ship, it’s an honor to serve in the Republic Navy!
I feel that another factor you should've examined was the roles and situations the various ships were used in. For example, the Arquitens was an escort used to screen larger vessels, and was usually going to be in dangerous positions during fleet combat. Also, the Venator was essentially the ship of the line, meaning that it was at the forefront of the war, was relied on for direct capital ship combat (at which it did not excel), and was almost used as expendable cannon fodder due to its ubiquity and relative versatility. Having said that, I agree with your assessments and rankings. The Acclamator was a well-made, durable, and versatile, but lacked the heavy firepower of the Victory that allowed it to effectively fight back.
The Acclamator may be the best workhorse of the republic, getting troops, supplies, vehicles, fighters in and out, but it's not a warship meant for direct combat. It's weapons/armor/shiedling are meant mainly for self defense while it preforms its primary role as a transport, moving troops from battlefield to battlefield. In regard to combat it is the worst of the four ships.
The venator (or at least the one Cal Kestis was on) had that cool training room, though...
So the Victory is in a weird place in Star Wars cannon right now, due to a Vader comic, Armada game, and the Tarken novel, it is technically canon, but we never actually see it in any of the digital media; movies, TV shows, cartoons, video games. And I think this is a real shame, because recently Disney has been making a shit tone of content based on the time line the Victory would have been in use; the last year of the clone wars and the beginning years of the Empire. It could have fit so well into the final season of the Clone Wars, into Bad Batch, Andor, Kenobi, Rebels, Rogue One, just soooo many missed opertunities.
Since we know that there's gonna be a Clone Rebellion led by Captain Rex in Bad Batch Season 2, they're gonna have to steal some Republic ships as their new mobile base of operations.
And then it gets destroyed later on, as experience with the first Normandy (Mass Effect), the Infinity (343 Halo), the MC80 Liberty (Star Wars: Ep. VI - Return of the Jedi and X-Wing Alliance), and a bunch of FreeSpace homeships have shown.
I would have loved to be a galactic janitor 😂
I wouldn't be too hard on the arquitensns class of ship. It is a light cruiser made for patrols, recon, and to aid in fighter screening. It's 4 twin mounted light turbolasers can make short work of freighters or help against light frigates. The 4 quad laser cannons help against fighters. And it can also carry 4 missile/ proton torpedo tubes.
It is made for light duties, so unless you charge in against a larger vessel like you have one brain cell you should be alright. Just sit beside or behind some victory class ships, screen fighters and help destroy light frigates so the victory can more easily focus fire.
This. The clip used showed a Arquitens trying to facetank a Frigate known for it's firepower, as well as a Destroyer, and being damaged but intact despite running directly into the fire of 2 ships that significantly outgunned it. Given it's basically a heavy corvette, the fact it got that close without immediately blowing up is impressive.
That being said, it should be behind a larger ship putting missiles and turbolaser fire on larger ships with wear down the shields, and hitting fighters and bombers with the light lasers.
My favorite Clone Wars-era Republic capital ship is the Venator-class Star Destroyer.
Can you do one of these on old republic era ships?
To be entirely fair to the Arquitens, it was only a light cruiser, of course its not going to be as survivable as ships that are quite literally several times the size and mass as it.
i love these ships, they have the perfect size
If I had to be on a one of those battleships, the Victory is probably what I'd prefer myself. Even aside from the survivability, being a gunner would be one of the best jobs to have, and Victory-class SDs had plenty of need for them.
I wouldn't really say that Arquitens could compare to aby of those, just because of the size comparison. Its like having a motorboat against a battleship(i know, the size difference here Is larger, but my point still stands)
Agreed. This is especially true as the Arquitens role would be to shield these vessels.
Could there possibly be a Separatist version of this 😅
So we just gonna forget that one time an Acclamator got destroyed by a single shot on it's engine section during the Battle of Ryloth? That's quiet a catastrophic design flaw to say the least.
Yeah, I've noticed that they cherry-pick some of the data. They do the same with the Venator to show how bad it is.
They're having a bit of a love affair with the Acclamator at the moment.
6:45 Remember the scene in clone wars where a venator gets shot and we get the POV of the medbay where the clones fall of the beds etc? Yeah no that ship is the worst to be on.
Hey! I just want to thank you for the content. I've been watching your vids for a while and I love the lore, love your voice and love your takes on the galaxy. This is a real comfort for me while I've been going through a lot. Keep it up dude, I know it's a labor of love. Star wars is fucking awesome and so are you.
PS I especially love these videos about ships :)
I believe the Acclamator should have been the Nr.1, due to it’s troop carrying ability many were kept at the rear of formations to protect the ground troops. The victory class star destroyers were brawlers meant to dive into enemy formations and get into heavy slugging matches.
The risk to your life was much greater on a victory class than on an Acclamator.
Also the Victories only were introduced fairly late in the war so for the first years the Acclamator would reign supreme anyways.
Victory Star Destroyers were literally called space coffins! They were prone to electrical and power issues, and have repeated incidents of failure of life support. They were also known for often having corners cut during construction leading to structural failure. There is a reason captains and admirals who were unliked were stationed on these things by the empire later on. Not just no, but hell-no!
Republic Venator
There is also the fact that the victory class star destroyer utilises concussion missile launchers for long range engangements, meaning that is can perform attacks from secure positions.
it also sounded like the crew courters was deeper in the ship on the victory than on the acclimator. i would think that also had something to sey, because it would mean more things that needed to be breached before it reached the crews living areas. then aigen most of the crew would be able to survive long enough to get to their battle stations on both the ships even if suprise attacks. unless it was the ship with the ion cannon that apeard ofc (From early in the war)
Another point against the Venators; they look like a charicature of Jar-Jar's head.
I love the acclamator but I gotta say that there was a scene in the clone wars (the landing on ryloth) where one got destroyed by one shot to the engine, by what seemed to be not so much anti air
It was projectile not laser based only reason why it took it down something about the metal material not built for it. Also, its a video on this channel and metanerdz or eckhartladder I forget lol.
Can you make a video on all star wars metals,
All mandalorian houses canon and ledgions,
The mining guld
It's safe to say all republic vessels lacked survivability. Sure, you can argue the acclamator, but they get also obliterated by geonosian starfighters enne mass in the first invasion of geonosis, and...well. we all know the victory class in empire at war is significantly weak once you take out it's shield generators, and crumple under sustained fire just like the venators.
i would say whatever ship Anakin isn't on, if he's on it its probably gonna crash or blow up
And only those with plot armor will survive then.
Mandatory dreadnought. You just sit in orbit around Kuwat in the largestband most armored ship built till the executor surrounded by a defense fleet and orbital defense stations better than even the capital.
I'm also biased, i think is the imperator class (The future imperial star destroyer lmao)
Anything but a Venator class ship, since that is the only ship the Republic ever seemed to send into battle.
Victory for me, as long as it's made with missile spamming in mind. Ace Combat/Project Wingman SPAMRAAMS, anime like Macross, and Homeworld's Missile Destroyers have spoiled me.
Another even worse case for the Arquitens is the Marauder, which was destroyed by one strafing run from a fricken U-Wing
I’d agree, also the victory is a sexy sexy ship
Only comment that I have would be this.
During a battle (i.e Battlestations) just who on the crew would actually be in their quarters?
On ships when at battlestations/actions stations no one is in their quarters or in their rack.
Everyone is up and manning a post or performing some duty.
How do i know?
Well that's what we do in the Navy.
So to say that such and such is horrible cause of where the crew quarters are located I think causes error when trying to assess crew risk.
Having said that I generally dont have an issue with the overall rankings.
I mean after the fighting is done and over those folks whos quarters no longer exist will see a marked decline in their moral since they most likely will end up hot bunking with those who still have intact accomodations until the ship is repaired in a dock.
Cis- *Laughs in buzzer droid*
Venator-class star destroy would be the best place to serve on, IF they were filled to the brim with V-wings.
When it comes to crew survival the #1 answer is the Carrack class
Considering that the aclemators were designed for planetary assault it would stand to reason that they are required to be heavily armored relying more on defense rather and offense since it would suck to have a single acclator blow up loosing hundreds and thousands of men and more importantly materials such as all of the tanks, LAAT’s, speeders, munitions ect that are packed into these things only for one to be blown out of the high orbit to come crashing down onto a planet due to a planetary defense weapon and so personally
The acclemator is by far one of the most safest ship to be on when not in a fight but even if that’s the case then there’s still a higher possibility of survival than any of the other but, considering that you’re on a high priority target it makes the ship’s durability almost redundant since most enemy warships or planetary defenses would be targeting your ship more so than any of the others, hence negating the fact that the ship has the strongest shields and thickest of armor when in reality your the the biggest and mostly likeliest of targets
Id turned the damn Arquentens into a damn minelayer .
If I had to create a fleet configuration it would be 4 Victory I's, either 1 Imperator I or 2 Venators, and eithee 4 carrier Acclamators or Acclamators in frigate configuration.
I have a better option. an escape pod. That way you could desert to the other side so that you can sit on a providence which has this new fangled tech called *good shields* and *good offensive capability* and *good fighter space* which none of the other factions can seem to have at the same time. I mean come on mon cals, where are your turbolasers and fighters? Come on empire, where is your shields? Come on republic, where is any of that?! Oh sorry, you had pilots? Where are they? Oh yeah, all dead, because they are terrible.
{Brings in Venator with SPHAAT cannon}
{Providence uses overshield!}
{Venator uses SPHAAT cannon!}
...... {providence remains online}
{Providence sends out droid fighters, they are very effective}
{Venator blows up}.
In my opinion the Venetor class could be a very good ship in battle since they are carriers, carriers typical are best behind the main force since its very vulnerable in its hanger , carriers also typically should never be alone , so my point is is that it was used wrong in the Clone wars nice videos too
Too bad Clone Wars never actually used better fleet tactics and more ship variety. I wish they actually used other vessels besides the Venator to show the republic being more competent
Lol that's a great thumbnail pic.
Hey Geets, can you make a video on Nossor Ri? His post-Clone Wars history is really interesting and his sacrifice is one of the best stories in the Sequel Era
The Venator would be fine, if you got stationed with an Admiral who understood its strengths and weaknesses, and had a decent enough picketline of ships to match his fleet. Really, anyone smart knew the Venator was a great ship if you kept it behind the main line as a battle-carrier with a scary point defense line and decent range. It was just fine to serve on, problem was, everyone who captained one was an idiot outside of Yularen and even he was forced to throw the Resolute into some stupid situations because, well, plot. All in all, you get a conservative fleet commander who knows what he or she is doing, you'll be fine on that thing.
@2:16 that's... not what happened in that scene. The wreck you say it collides with, passes between the camera and the cruiser, and when we see it next, there is damage on the topside.
The way he says arquitens lol
The safest ship to be on is the one with the main characters, thats where the plot armor is.
0:50 Thats a skeleton crew if I've ever heard of one. Ship probably only needs men on the bridge and engineers for MINIMUM operations.
If prefer to serve on an acclimator: my logic being on top of being extremely durable, their intended role as heavy transports often kept them out of the most intense fighting to begin with.
I would rather be on a venator than most other ships
Well, that battle had been going on for a while when that Arquitens got shredded…
The venator is not a bad ship
I like doing an RP session playing the Interregnum mod for Sins of a Solar Empire. Play as Empire but only use Venators, Acclimators and Arquintens. It's entertaining.
Cheers
I mean the clone wars movie that was before the show pants a clear picture of how dangerous working on a venator class star destroyer when Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano tried to jabbas son medical attention.
You just **know** the Kaminoans put the crew quarters along the edges on purpose to serve as an extra expendable buffer layer for damage.
More important things can be protected further inside, and the clones can just sleep at their stations if they need to.
I think the actual best should take everything into account everything combining both this video and the previous best ship balancing everything out. That would give the best awnser, and yes it means some of the mediocre ships from either list could be better as a whole and some even worse
could you do a simular video for the CIS?
Could you do some videos on the ships and stations on the show “legends of the galactic heroes”?
My first guess will be Mandator 2 or Praetor
@Geetsly's That clip you showed of the Arquitens was misinterpreted. If you look at the last shot of the Arquitens when it's on fire it isn't next to the Munificent, rather it is next to the Recusant (you can see the edge of the Munificent on the left hand side of the screen). It is a weird jump between the two scenes but that would make the Arquitens a bit more survivable.
These military vids y'all have been doing would really translate well to real life counterparts.
No
The acclimators are super op in empire at war in the early stages of the game.
The one where Anakin isn't on, probably.
I think being on acclamator would be best for both quality of life and survivability. In general land battles seem much more survivable than space battles, and clones seem relatively glory driven and fighting on the ground or flying an LAAT seems more rewarding for a clone than crewing a turbolaser. Since the acclamator usually sends most of its crew to the surface as soon as it is in range I think a clone would rather be stationed there.
Aquitaines is probably pretty comfortable for the crew.
I think that the problem with the arqutens is the incorrect way they’ve been used and designed where personally I would lower the bridge giving it a more fatter appear similar to the lower section of a venators bridge underneath the two bridge towers, after that I would fill in the blank section of the front to give it a more interdictor look and then add two to three point defenses on the spine if not more to give it a better anti star fighter capability as well as increase the internal capacity as well as up armoring the front, am again the arquitens was designed to be a corvette where it’s designed to deal with things like smaller capital class starships, as well as an anti Star fighter screener protecting the venators from droid bombers and fighters not as a frontline warship, personally the problem with the republic navy was its lack of dedicated anti ship capability’s where yes relying on what is essentially a cruiser/ carrier hybrid which relys of its fighters is great however as a ship to ship fighter it utterly sucks, which is why ships like the victory and other small destroyers were ideal, where in a typical fleet, it would have three to four venators, one or two victories and four or six arqutens being that the victory’s are the heavy hitters, all guns and not much else, where if the enemy are to get in really close then the fleet should have a higher chance of doing more direct damage saving more precious fighters, the venators would act as fleet carriers providing long range fire support and direct bombing attacks be it with Y-wings and fighter support all the while having the firepower to deal with enemy fighters as well as deal some damage when engaging with enemy ships and would hang back behind the victory’s relying on them to soak up most of the damage and incoming shots, all the while arqutens provide anti fighter protection where two are on the flanks whilst one is in between the two victories whilst the other is guarding the center of the three venators
As a Venator fan, I don't know how to feel about the entire Venator part being full of slander :(
I would combine the best qualities of the Venator with the Victory.
So Imperial-class 😈
Question: Why the Republic did not use the Victory-class Star Destroyers as the poster boys instead of the Venator-class Star Destroyers?
Can you please do Separatist ships next . Thanks
The acclamator was meant to be tough if it had to be the main troop transport in the clone wars.
what about the imperator and the tector?
A definite flaw I see with the Acclamator is that if it were to be brought down so much would be lost in just one ship.
You will have to pry me out of the Harbinger. No ship has the survivability, durability, or service time that it has.
Correction I save the first group of clones you find and kill the trandosion before he can hack the turrets so I like to think I at least saved them so the crew could of be 6or7 in Republic commandos
Wait, if the stock acclamator didn't have windows on the bridge, then why in the name of all that is holy did they still make it a tower? Elevated position + no windows = needlessly exposed crew.
