Props for giving so much love to "Crave". That tune was seriously overlooked. Please give MDNA a few more listens, it took a while but its one of my favourites now. Love the vid stay safe..... And that Erotica cover is still yours if you want it!
Thank you! I love “Crave”! Definitely one of her more underrated ones! I will try with MDNA- my opinions and favourites change all the time! Stay safe too- thanks!

How she responded to Justify my love was amazing though. She could not understand the fuss as it showed people loving each other - but had it shown them killing each other - well that would have not got a hoot of attention. I was 14 when it came out and just ate it up. I had the pictures of her in bondage gear and pumped lips on my wall and I brought the video single.

Agree again with my 2 favourite songs Number 1 Like a Prayer, Number 2 Vogue and for me Number 3 is Express Yourself. Funny because our Number 1 for Michael Jackson and Madonna were songs with a big gospel choir. Prince was playing the guitar on Like a Prayer, by the way, but I think he didn't want to appear on the credits.

Nice video! That last "like a prayer/virgin" moment was hilarious :P I would post my personal ranking but I have to say it's quite controversial. Firstly, I actually prefer a lot of leeser known singles and non-singles (usually her ballads), and secondly, I am guilty of being quite fond of her 2010s output, particularly MDNA (I know that's your least fave M album). But just like you and Borderline/ Lucky Star, I have a strong emotional, nostalgic attachment to MDNA. I moved to London in 2011, and that kinda started a whole new chapter for me. MDNA became my soundtrack and it has remained an important record for me to today (even if I've been a hardcore M fan since 1998). Anyway, hope you're keeping safe!
@@RayofHIStory lol you don't have to. But I think a lot of fans still forget that MDNA is actually quite deep (in its superficiality)... It encapsules a lot of her anger/sadness and need for escapism after her divorce... I found this article on that, maybe you've read it before? www.glamour.com/story/madonna-mdna-divorce-album (I'm by no means trying to convince you to like MDNA, of course, just adding more to the picture. I also don't forget MDNA was put together within 2-3 months amid a lot of contractual pressures and a hectic schedule - W.E. film release, Superbowl and a huge tour being planned. Madonna herself has admitted her lack of motivation for this album as well as for Rebel Heart.)

Okay, I was going to come for you for some of your earlier complete disses of songs I would put maybe in her top 20 or 30, but you got me back with Like a Prayer, Vogue and Frozen. My list would be very, very different, but you've identified some of her strongest works here. But Material Girl? Ugh... the video is iconic, however that song did not age well. Madonna at her most 'Minnie Mouse' sounding. No. Also, wasn't God Control released as a single? I'm confused.
To clarify, I don’t dislike or “diss” most of the songs I ranked lower! Just have my favourites like everyone! I’d love to know the songs you’d rank higher! I love God Control, according to Wiki it wasn’t a single- but then again when has Wikipedia ever been reliable 😂
@@RayofHIStory lol... it's all good. all lists like this are going to be subjective. I get that. It may have something to do with age as well because I'm a lot older than you and I remember all these songs when they originally came out, so I think that adds a little more context and perhaps 'emotional' weight to how I would rank them versus someone who would be more used to her newer material and has to go back to listen to her whole discography. That's not a read, just that I think it's interesting to compare how people rate her body of work, based on how they discovered her and 'lived' through her career. For example, older songs might seem like classics to me, but to younger listeners, they sound dated and didn't age well, and on the flip side someone older might get the cultural context of the songs and how impactful they were on the music scene at the time. So, songs I'd rate higher, after going back to re-watch you video: Turn Up the Radio (not like super high, but there are far worse singles than putting this dead last), Revolver, Gambler, Hollywood, Bye Bye Baby, I Rise (I'd put this MUCH higher), Don't Tell Me, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, Burning Up, Bedtime Story, Dress You Up, Celebration, Masterpiece, Ghosttown (among my top five favourite ballads), Erotica (holy shit, this would be in my top ten), Human Nature, Secret (easily another top five ballad), and Express Yourself (probably top five period, or top ten). Songs I'd rate lower: This Used to be My Playground (ugh), You'll See, Me Against the Music (Britney's affected voice is a hard no for me, personally), Drowned World, Jump, Crave, Take a BOw (it's fine but more middle of the road for me), Borderline (I never cared for this song), Material Girl (as mentioned before, I can't take her high pitched squeaky voice, which I get is ironic like Barbie Girl was, but I can't listen to it anymore), Crazy for You (also, never cared for this song, personally), Power of Goodbye (I mean, it's fine, but over Express Yourself? nah), 4 Minutes, Justify My Love (over Erotica? nah), and Live to Tell, which is fine, but nowhere near as good as Secret or Ghosttown. Anyhow, thanks for doing this video. It's great to see someone passionate about Madonna's music. I always enjoy seeing reviews and rankings. Gives me an idea of what other people think of her amazing career.
Great taste! I really do love those songs you mentioned, Ghosttown is beautiful, as is masterpiece. Human Nature and Bedtime Story are among my personal favourites too, I tried to make the list as unbias as I could otherwise my list would probably have been different! Also, I really appreciate your initial point about living through the releases, I do think this makes such a difference, I don’t have the same nostalgic attachment to some of her work, whereas other fans will; so I don’t take offence I think that’s a valid point! Thank you for your comment, I love seeing everyone’s different views!
@@RayofHIStory Thanks, Ray. I've been tempted to do reviews of Madonna's music and videos for a while, because of younger people doing their own video reviews and I find it so interesting and informative to hear such different perspectives, often very insightful. It's kind of cool to see how Madonna may be seen as an artist 10/20/50 years from now and what people will remember her for, even if they weren't alive during her peak of popularity. I thought it might be interesting to offer an older perspective that is not better or worse than anyone else's, but just different based on life experiences. Anyway, I suppose if I was going to do it, now would be the time but maybe just being inexperienced and self conscious of being filmed is holding me back. I see how some commentators come for Madonna just for her age and her looks, and who needs to set themselves up for that garbage, right? lol.
